He grinned like a malicious ghost and swiped the green button to answer. "Hello, may I ask who it is?" he said comfortably sinking into his beach lounge chair.
Qie Ranzhe's brows creased as he had already realised that this wasn't Wen Qinxi's voice. This voice was a few decibels deeper than Wen Qinxi's. "It's his boss. May you put him on the phone please," said Qie Ranzhe not forgetting to be polite. His mama taught him well.
"Uh, I am his brother Wen Danzhe and I am pretty sure he is on leave so if you have anything to discuss with him you can discuss it when he gets back to work," replied Wen Danzhe wishing he could choke this bastard through the phone, "Oh and I highly suggest you stay the fuck away from him from now on so you don't fuck with his emotions anymore. He is going on blind dates and trying to move on so let's keep the relationship between the two of you impersonal."
Wen Danzhe had made a conscious decision to be an antagonist of the highest order. If Qie Ranzhe really liked his brother then he would have to work hard for it. Nothing comes for free.
Qie Ranzhe felt a suffocating feeling rise to his throat trying to keep his sanity and not go off on Wen Qinxi's brother. What blind dates? What emotions? What did he do to Gecko in the game? A barrage of questions flooded his mind forgetting to respond to Wen Danzhe. He hadn't even come up with a response yet when he heard Wen Danzhe say, "Oh my gosh Ma, stop introducing him to just anyone. Shit..... Is she trying to auction him out or something?"
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Was the sound of a dropped phone call echoing in Qie Ranzhe's ear. To be fair, Wen Danzhe didn't mean for the CEO to hear the last part but he couldn't help it. His mother was introducing his brother to anyone who looked decent and judging from Wen Qinxi's expression, he was going to get even with him later.
Qie Ranzhe on the other hand was as green as a leprechaun's hat clutching his cellphone tightly. Machu noticed something was up so he asked, "What? Did he hang up on you? I don't blame him. You should see the shit you put him through inside that game. His reaction is totally understandable," recalling the distraught look on Wen Qinxi's face at the hospital.
Qie Ranzhe suddenly stood up heading to the door in huge strides. He had to see it for himself.
"Wait, where are you going?" asked Machu wondering what was going through Qie Ranzhe's mind. He decided to go after him and when he finally caught up, he found him in the gaming room with the two other nerds running out of there at high speed.
He was in such a terrible mood that he chased everyone out of the gaming room before accessing the server by himself. He was the only one in GameX with complete access to Flagship's servers for safety reasons. There are parts of the server that the system wouldn't grant even Wen Qinxi access.
Machu sat in the swivel chair silently watching his friend who seemed to have lost it. "I highly suggest you watch it at home.... just saying," he said after recalling some of the gossips the system shared with them.
Qie Ranzhe ignored him and scanned his fingerprint before saying, "System, open server TX791 and download all the footage," with a scowl on his handsome face.
The system that had been gallivanting lately celebrating independence suddenly felt terrified shrinking into its circuits. To put it in simple terms, it was scared shitless when it recalled all the mean retorts it said to Wen Qinxi while in the game. Based on this CEO's character he wouldn't let it off.
It didn't even bother correcting his method of address. Who cares if the boss wanted to call it system? Even if he called it idiot or dumbass it wouldn't complain. "Sir, no need to see such, such things. This lowly servant can summarise what happened. There's no need to waste the great buddha's time," it said trying its luck but who was it talking to? Qie Ranzhe wasn't the type to negotiate.
Machu couldn't help but chuckle recalling how much money he lost to the system. Who would have thought this sassy thing would turn docile and humble in front of Qie Ranzhe.
"Do I look like I am in the mood to bargain with you?" he asked feeling somewhat irritated. Whatever he did in that game must have been big.
"No, no sir. This footage is months worth which will interfere with your work. I was, was being considerate," said the system wishing it was dealing with Wen Qinxi instead.
"No need, now make the transfer and don't you dare leave anything out," he said in a commanding tone.
Jolie was left with no choice but to transfer the footage into a portable storage device weeping tears of blood. It hoped Wen Qinxi would come back soon to save it from the big bad wolf.
While waiting for the transfer to complete he received a notification on his cellphone. Qie Ranzhe unlocked it only to find a message about a delivery of a care package he didn't order. He raised his head to look at Machu who showed his cellphone screen.
"I won't have time to come to see you for the next two days so I bought you a care package with snacks, tissues and some lube cause you will need it," said Machu with a sly grin, "Oh and don't overdo it..... shit! Hahaha.... so aggressive." The latter part of the sentence was said when a Hello kitty stress ball that belonged to Xia Bai was thrown at him. He dashed out of the room in a hurry because his safety wasn't guaranteed.
"What I did in the game.... is it that deep?" he asked the system rubbing his forehead.
"I think the appropriate question would be how deep did you drill into his well and how many times you did it..... hahaha..... just, just kidding," said the system before it remembered who it was talking to. You can't blame it. It has a problem. A day without screwing with someone is like going a day without food.
"Bear in mind that you are expensive but replaceable," he said taking out the portable drive. He left the gaming room after dropping such a bomb leaving behind a terrified system. Its boss was too scary.
GameX employees watched their CEO who had just returned today leave before the clock even struck 10 am. This was incredibly strange no matter how you looked at it but no one had the balls to approach him and ask if he was okay especially when his expression was as dark as the bottom of a charcoal pot.
