Under Qie Ranzhe's constant provocation, Wen Qinxi felt the heat in his body rise sharply that his face was as red as a tomato by the time he ran out of that office. He had to calm himself down otherwise he wouldn't be able to get any work done.
He was in such a rush that he didn't pay attention to the person who was knocking on the door. Wen Qinxi ducked into the fifth-floor bathroom and splashed his face with some cold water to cool himself down.
After splashing his face a couple of times he stared at himself in the mirror with his hands on either side of the sink. His damp eyelashes fluttered as drops of water flowed down his face. But on closer inspection, it turned out that some of the so-called water droplets were actually tears.
A self-deprecating smile appeared on his handsome face as a wave of complicated feelings surged within him. He could clearly see that Qie Ranzhe liked him or at least believed he did. But the scene in the hospital constantly replayed in his mind making him anxious.
Was Qie Ranzhe a slag man? Was he the kind of guy who would play on two playing fields? Wen Qinxi didn't want to be the man's expensive male pet who sold his precious chrysanthemum for a quarter of a multi-billion company.
He knew he should take a step back and stay as far away from Qie Ranzhe since the man was still entangled with Zhao Huangzhi but he couldn't do it. Wen Qinxi had never felt the urge to fight this hard for someone.
He always mocked the dog blood dramas where the cannon fodder brainlessly screwed with the female lead for the male lead but now he had become one of them in a short span of time. Wen Qinxi took a tissue paper and wiped his face before putting his glasses back on. He had to find out how to remove this tattoo otherwise each time he looked at his shoulder his heart would break.
While Wen Qinxi was consulting the only other person who knew more about tattoos than him, Qie Ranzhe was faced with his mother's probing gaze. "What?" he asked as his secretary placed a steaming cup of coffee on the table.
Yes, he would make a cup of warm water for Wen Qinxi but would let his secretary make his mother a cup of coffee. If she knew her son was a henpecked husband who had already handed over half his shares to his future wife how would she react?
"So you aren't going to tell me who you are buying out or... are you selling some of your shares?" she asked but as soon as her words fell Li Menxie's hand shook spilling some of the coffee on the counter. She had a little suspicion that these shares weren't sold but gifted to a certain someone. The two tyrants stared at her as she hurriedly apologized while cleaning the mess.
"Leave..... and don't forget to take the coffee with you. I don't want it anymore," said Dai Lee feeling dissatisfied, "it's truly hard to find good help these days."
Qie Ranzhe didn't comment. Who knows what was going on with his mother today. "I will tell you when it's time..... anyway, what brings you here?" he asked fully aware that his mother didn't trot over to have a cup of coffee.
"Fine, don't tell me. Your father called saying something about setting up a meeting with you. He wants you to come over to the Qie Mansion for the spring festival since your last name is still Qie..... hahaha can you believe the nerve that man has?" she said with a mocking smile.
Qie Ranzhe's jaw tightened restraining himself. What else could that bastard want except to use him? They hadn't dealt with each other for almost a decade so why now? He was about to refuse when his mother said, "According to clause 38.1 of the divorce agreement I am meant to make you meet your father whenever he summons you otherwise you will be stripped of your legal right to the Qie group shares."
Qie Ranzhe chuckled in amusement. It's funny that his father thought he cared so much for such little money. This is exactly why he built an empire so that man wouldn't have any control over his life. "Well, then he can go fuck himself. There is no way in hell I am ever stepping into that house."
Dai Lee smiled and leaned closer to her son seated opposite her. "That's my boy. Stay as far away as possible from them so I can be at ease," she said pinching his cheek like she used to do when he was young, "now how about you gift me with a daughter in law so this spring festival it won't be just us?"
Qie Ranzhe, "....."
"It's never just us. Dai Yu and Shao Lan are always there causing trouble. And your sister as well so what's this talk of being alone? That's enough people as it is," he said unwilling to introduce her to Wen Qinxi as yet. He had to hog his bunny first before he would have to share him with everyone else.
In the game, he had to share with Qie Xieling for three worlds straight. He hadn't spent enough time with Wen Qinxi so why would he want to share him with all those relatives?
Qie Ranzhe soon managed to drive his mother away claiming he had a lot of work to do. This daughter in law talk was driving him nuts that he simply wanted to get rid of her. As soon as his mother left, he received a call from one of his men concerning Ba Gua.
There had been reports about the disappearance of Ba Gua which were blowing up online. Qie Ranzhe knew this was all smoke and mirrors created by Qie Anzhie to cause trouble.
This was the reason why he didn't kill Ba Gua because his brother planned to have the programmer's family accuse him of murder which would, in turn, cause trouble for his company. Unfortunately for Qie Anzhie, he was dealing with a master manipulator.
He might not have killed Ba Gua but his method of dealing with him was especially ruthless. According to his instructions, Ba Gua was ditched in a cheap motel across the country high on whatever drug his bodyguards could find and threw him in an orgy with a bunch of women. When the police found him he was as high as a kite and assaulted the female police officer in the process.
While he was locked up he received an envelope with pictures of his deeds in his birthday suit with a video attached. He was about to claim he been framed but if these images got out then he's basically a dead man. His wife would divorce him and he would lose everything.
There was no way Ba Gua was talking. He had already been granted amnesty and the next time he might not be so lucky.
