About half a year passed…
Rumbling and fluctuations of powers were being seen and heard from the Heavenly Emperor Palace at times.
Everyone in the Jun family recognized them as signs that meant Jun Xiaoyao was making breakthroughs again.
Several disciples of the Jun family were astonished by the rate of progress that Jun Xiaoyao achieved.
Having all of that happening so often, however, no one found any of it to be unusual anymore.
The people of the Jun family would have felt it to be out of place if such a rate of breakthroughs was not seen as often.
Bai Yu’er had been kneeling right outside the Heavenly Emperor Palace throughout the past half a year.
She looked shriveled with an ashen face, appearing much thinner than she was over half a year ago.
Due to her being a cultivator herself, she managed to survive despite haven’t been eating and drinking for half a year. Nevertheless, she appeared very weak.
Now, she looked nothing like a high and mighty princess of a kingdom.
Instead, she looked more like a lowly female slave who was begging for Jun Xiaoyao’s forgiveness.
Jun Xiaoyao completely ignored her throughout the past half a year. Even when he ran into her when he was venturing outside of the Heavenly Emperor Palace, he wouldn’t bat an eye on her. He would treat her as if she wasn’t there, to begin with.
Bai Yu’er did little other than flashing a self-deprecating smirk at the treatment.
She brought all of that unto herself; she got what she deserved.
Jun Xiaoyao sat cross-legged in a secret room in the Heavenly Emperor Palace as he trained.
A rumble was heard as his aura climbed to new heights; it was a sign of him making yet another breakthrough.
“I’m at the Ninth Level of Divinity Stage now,” Jun Xiaoyao mumbled to himself.
Beginning from the five stages of the Physique Stage, he broke through the five stages of the Divine Treasure Stage and the Nine Levels of the Spirit Sea Stage. He then moved on to breaking all nine levels of the Divinity Stage.
He was only eight years old, yet he had been breaking through 28 cultivation stages during his whole life.
Such a rate of progress was deemed absolutely terrifying.
Conventionally-speaking, it would have taken several talented geniuses about 20 years to break through that many cultivation stages.
Even so, Jun Xiaoyao was able to get that far in just eight years.
“Not good enough. I’d need to make a breakthrough into the True Spirit Stage at last by the time my 10 years old party comes up. It’s around the corner,” Jun Xiaoyao mumbled to himself.
He had a feeling that his Ten Years Old Banquet would be anything but peaceful.
“Ah, that’s right. There’s still the matter of the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix to take care of.”
Jun Xiaoyao then sent a telepathic message to Jun Linglong shortly afterward.
Jun Linglong pushed the door open and entered mere moments later.
Jun Xiaoyao flipped his hand and took out a precious herb that shimmered with a violet aura, somewhat resembling the Qilin from his void ring.
That herb was none other than the Immortality Herb of the Qilin.
One such stalk of the herb would drive people to kill each other for it if it were to be thrown out into the world.
“Sir Divine Child, are you…” Jun Linglong’s eyes flickered.
She was wondering if Jun Xiaoyao was finally beginning to think about handling the matter regarding the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix.
“Linglong, make a trip to the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix on my behalf. Tell the king that if he were to be willing to submit to me, I shall give him the Immortality Herb of the Qilin to save his life.” Jun Xiaoyao said and handed the herb over to Jun Linglong.
“I shall see to it. I’ll inform Bai Yu’er right away,” Jun Linglong said.
Bai Yu’er was still kneeling outside the Heavenly Emperor Palace as she had been doing so for over half a year. Jun Linglong saw that the princess was genuinely sincere in making amends.
Jun Xiaoyao waved his hand and added, “Hold on, don’t tell Bai Yu’er just yet. Leave her kneeling. Tell those at the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix to not let Bai Yu’er know about the herb.”
He was planning to tell her only after she stayed kneeling where she was for a year.
He wanted her to hear that her father had been cured at last, only when she was on the verge of complete despair.
One could imagine just how Bai Yu’er would feel by then.
She would have sworn absolute loyalty to Jun Xiaoyao for what he did.
“Hell, why am I finding myself behaving more and more like a villain…?” Jun Xiaoyao stroked his chin for a bit and mumbled to himself.
Jun Linglong was wise enough to know what her master was trying to pull.
She was very impressed at how Jun Xiaoyao went about his affairs.
A genius who knew little else other than fighting had little future to speak of, after all.
Only a genius armed with both brawn and brains would have what it takes to reach the very top.
Jun Linglong then left the Heavenly Emperor Palace shortly afterward, summoning the mystic guardian of her line in the family before preparing to depart for the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix.
The mystic guardian was a crone who didn’t feel all that comfortable seeing how Jun Linglong kept running about taking care of Jun Xiaoyao’s affairs. She then said, “Is it worth it for you to keep doing this, my lady? The divine child is only treating you like a maid after all.”
“Grandma Hua, please don’t ask me such things anymore. The achievements of Sir Divine Child in the future would be something that you could never imagine. I would be glad to serve by his side, even just as a maid,” Jun Linglong added.
In response, Grandma Hua sighed to herself.
Naturally, there was no way for her to tell that Jun Linglong saw a glimpse of the future.
Being a maid serving the heavenly emperor didn’t seem so bad after all…
Both Jun Linglong and Grandma Hua made their way to the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix without making any stops.
Meanwhile, in the Cang State, one of the 3000 mystical states of the Huangtian Mystic Realm…
The entire Cang State was right beside the Fire State, with both states being of similar size.
The top-notch orthodoxy that ruled all over the Cang State was the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon.
Unlike the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix that was declining with each passing day, the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon was getting increasingly powerful and prosperous. As a result, it looked as if it was the leader of the four ancient kingdoms.
At that moment, in a grand hall within the royal palace of the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon, a young man dressed in a robe with a motif of a four-clawed dragon was seen kneeling on the ground.
The young man looked scholarly and attractive. He looked to be about 16 or 17 years of age.
His powers had reached the Divinity Stage.
Being able to reach the Divinity Stage would make him an uncanny genius even among those in the Clans of the Ancients.
That fact was even more pronounced when compared to the rest of the world; he would have been deemed absolutely among the best of the best.
That young man was none other than Bai Yu’er’s fiancé and the crown prince of the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon: Xiao Chen.
Xiao Chen’s eyes looked bloodshot at the moment as his face looked to be vaguely twisted by rage. He was seen cupping his hands as he faced the throne before him, speaking with someone sitting there and shrouded in the boundless glow of power.
“Father, please give me a stalk of the Immortality Herb so that I could present it to the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix.”
The king of the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon seemed to be vaguely coalescing his powers in the form of a dragon as he sat on the throne, making his presence and aura unbelievably magnificent.
The king simply replied, “My son, the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon only has a single stalk of Immortality Herb, and it is something passed down by our ancestors. How could we simply give away something so precious to the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix?”
“As we speak, Bai Yu’er is being humiliated at the Jun family, kneeling at their place. As her fiancé, how could I do nothing when she is suffering such indignity?”
Xiao Chen was burning in rage as he clenched his fist. His nails stabbed right into his palms, driving intense pain into his heart.
The news of Bai Yu’er kneeling before the divine child’s bed chambers spread far and wide.
Even though many people wondered what that mysterious divine child was doing, they were also making a laughing stock out of the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon.
After all, having one’s fiancé kneeling before the bedchambers of yet another man was a humiliation like no other.
To make matters worse, Bai Yu’er had always been a childhood friend of Xiao Chen, to begin with. He was simply unable to stomach what Bai Yu’er was currently going.
“You have to be patient, my son. I have my own plans regarding the matter with the Ancient Kingdom of Phoenix,” the king of the Ancient Kingdom of Dragon replied.
“What’s so great about that divine child of the Jun family after all? He’s nothing but a bully who’s backed by his status! Could he still call himself a human while he bullies a girl like that?” Xiao Chen berated right away.
He never bothered to think of the idea that Bai Yu’er had done something wrong.
To him, his fiancé could do no wrong. He believed this was all Jun Xiaoyao’s fault.
“Silence! Do not ever say such things about the matter! You’re dismissed. The people of the Jun family are not people whom you could just throw insults about,” the king frowned and said.
Xiao Chen gritted his teeth and walked out of the grand hall.
‘Just you wait. What’s great about that divine child of the Jun family anyway? I’d take Yu’er back from the Jun family when I’m done mastering that move, and I’d teach the divine child a lesson along the way,’ Xiao Chen thought to himself as he rubbed his finger on his Panlong Ring.
The ring was an heirloom left for him by his late queen mother.
The Panlong Ring began transmitting powerful methods and refined powers to him a few years ago.
It was thanks to the ring that Xiao Chen was able to get so far with his cultivation.
“With the Panlong Ring left behind by my mother, I’ll surely be able to stomp down on even the likes of that divine child of the Jun family,” Xiao Chen asserted with a cold and pointed expression, somehow appearing very confident.
