Chapter 13 - Not Be Alone

Just as Xie Eun was about to escape, a young boy was poised to knock on the door.Stepping back, she looked at him carefully and ascertaining that it was not her husband, she smiled at him and asked,"Yes?"

The boy was bedazzled by the girl and almost forgot him purpose before the eyes of the man who had ordered the flowers flashed in front of him. No wonder the man had said that he should not take too long..Shuddering the boy pushed the bouquet of flowers into her hands and stepped back at a high speed. Once at a safe distance, the boy repeated the message he was supposed to give,"Miss, these flowers are from your husband for you.He asks that you see the card and keep the flowers if you want to get your wish.." The boy felt that it was a very cryptic message but related it word for word nonetheless before making his escape.

Xie Eun stared at the bouquet of flowers. She had received many types of flowers but never this color. She was intrigued as she thought about the meaning behingthese flowers. But she was now curious about the card and the message. It was true that she would have discarded the flowers on learning they were from their husband but he had attached a bait to it.To get her wish..her only wish at present that he could fulfill was giving her an annulment and so she decisively put the message envelope in her back pocket and the flowers in her hand before walking out of the lobby. She was about to ask the reception to book a car for her when she saw Aunt Su waving at her madly from her old camper van parked just outside the hotel.

Shaking her head, she walked out of the hotel and straight and hopped straight into the van.

Aunt Su observed Xie Eun for a while in silence and then sighed. Obviously the girl was still angry at being forced to wed.

Keeping her silence on the matter, Aunt Subdrove towards the farm house. Only after they had reached and Xie Eun would have gone down did Aunt Su stop her and say,"Young Miss.Old master wants to talk to you."

Xie Eun nodded quietly and walked into the house and straight into the study where she knew her father would be waiting for her.

And there in the big chair sat General Xie. For a moment, Xie Eun froze as she realized just how much her father's appearance had changed right in front of her eyes. The man who had always been a grand presence looked frail against the big chair. He had lost weight so much weight. All her anger at him seemed to disappear as she saw him. What was done was done.He had her well being in his heart and even though she did not agree with his actions she knew his heart.

Running to him, she hugged him like she used to as a kid and placed a kiss on his forehead,"Daddy, I am sorry I was so cold to you these days.."

General Xie patted his daughter's hand and smiled in understanding."My Eun-a, I know your stubbornness and still love you.Dont you worry about your father.I know you were angry and you have every right to be. But now you are married and I want you to listen to me carefully.."

Xie Eun did not want to talk about her marriage. As far as she was concerned, yesterday was all a play to pacify her father. Soon she would have her annulment with our her father knowing and that would be the end of it. Since the matter was resolved as far as she was concerned, she decided to be patient with her sick father and hear him out. She really had been too angry to do any thinking.

So Xie Eun sat near her father's feet and pouted up at him,"Daddy!I dont want to talk about all that. And talking will make you cough.I just want to be with my daddy.Let us keep the serious talk for another day."

General Xie looked down at his daughter and patted her head. She was always like this when she wanted to escape talking just like the times she would commit some mischief and then act all cute to evade punishment. He looked at the legal papers in front of him, the one's that had made him forcefully marry his own daughter and sighed,"All that could wait. Moments with his daughter were precious."

As Xie Eun closed her eyes, General Xie looked down at his little girl. Soon, she would be orphaned. He had acted as her mother and father all her life. He had wished that he would be able to see her grow well but fate had other plans for him. He had no choice to hand her into someone's care and Wolf, he knew was the best choice for his daughter. General Xie had never known what to do with a daughter but he had learnt...but Wolf was also like a son to him. By playing this card and forcing them to marry, he had actually created a family for his two most precious people in the world. So that when he finally left this world, they would both have each other..and not be alone..
