85 His father was a good man

Alicia was crying as she explained the incidents. Both John and Mrs Smith felt pain on their chest. Mrs Smith could not keep her tears.

"My poor child! You had to go a hard time."Mrs Smith told as she hugs Alicia. They both cried together for a long time. John could not see more. He silently comes out from the study room and moves towards the garden. He must clear his mind. He sat on a bench near the fountain and lost in deep thought.

' Lucas, this Lucas killed my father and grandfather both. He killed his own father too. But why? Why he hates our family so much? If my speculations are right, then he is the same man who tried to kill me too. Mom said that he and his companion are searching for a map. But what map is he searching I never heard about any map in my life. I have to discuss the matter with grandma. Maybe she knows him and the map."

He called Charlie and gave him instructions on Lucas' matter. Now he has got a name along with the sketch. So, now investigation would be easier for him.

John got up and entered the manor absent-minded. Mrs Smith and Alicia were already in the dining place with others.

" Come John. We are having tea."Mrs Smith called him. John nodded and joined them.

"Mom! Are you ok ?" He asked worriedly.

"Yes, my son. Don't worry about me."Alicia smiled.

She felt better after talking to Mrs Smith.

" John after tea let's go to study room. I have something to discuss with you."Mrs Smith in a serious tone.

"Ok.grandma."

After the tea, John left along with his grandmother.

" Second Grandma, will you help me to practice my songs?"Ronnie asked Alicia. Music director of the movie sent some notes for Ronnie's practice.

"Sure. Let's go."

"Ok."

In the study room, John and Mrs Smith were sitting on a couch. Mrs Smith knew that John was curious about Lucas. She never thought that this Lucas would make her life so miserable, otherwise, she would have talked to him.

"Who is Lucas? Do you know him?"

"Yes. I know him. I met him twice. He is Lucas Smith. He is a distant relative of your grandfather."

John's eyes widen in shock.

"Are you saying that he is also a Smith?"

"Yes. He is also a Smith." Mrs Smith replied in a calm voice.

John stunned. That means despite being their relative, Lucas has some grudges against his family from his grandfather's time. But why he is trying to harm his family. John got up and brought the sketch of the old man who tried to harm his company.

"Grandma. Please look at this. Is this Lucas Smith?"

Mrs Smith took the sketch and look at the sketch. She looked like lost in her past.

"Yes. He is Lucas Smith. But I met him when he was younger. First time I met him when he proposed me for marriage, but I rejected his proposal as I was already secretly engaged with Oliver. Oliver and I loved each other for more than five years. But my father did not want to get me married to Oliver, who was raised in an orphanage. He wanted to marry me to Lucas instead, as he was the richest person in the city.

Both Lucas and Oliver's father were cousins as well as good friends. They both were diamond miners. Some unknown person killed the parents of Oliver and he was sent to an orphanage. When Oliver was sixteen, he started his own business. Lucas's father helped him to grow his business. But I don't know why Lucas hated Oliver very much.

Although they both were cousins, they are enemy more than relatives.

Lucas was very angry when I rejected his marriage proposal. My father was also very upset. I tried to convince my father to marry me to Oliver but failed. He tried to marry me to Lucas by force. So, I left my house and married Oliver.

After marriage, Oliver bought a house for us. He started a business of textiles. His business was growing day by day. We were very happy when Victor came into our life.

I met Lucas for the second time when we went to meet Lucas's father after our marriage. Lucas didn't speak to me or Oliver. His father was a good man. They talked for a long time that day, as I was spending my time with Lucas's mother. We left their house at night. But next morning we got the bad news of the death of Lucas's father. He had a heart attack at night. His wife brought him to the hospital, but he was already dead. We were present at the funeral but we didn't saw Lucas. Somebody was telling that he left the home the previous night, after fighting with his father. After that incident, I never heard about Lucas."
