Chapter 47：Work Together?

"Look I'm trying to be serious... do you want to work together or not?" I ask in irritation as I do my best to fix my clothes. His eyes watch me with dark promises but he says "I thought we're already doing that? Was I mistaken?"

I give him another look before I lean over a grab my phone. "If we're working together, then you need to tell me what you know about the markings and the book," I say walking back to the kitchen. The couch was obviously not safe... I pull out a water and take a large sip, keeping my back to him.

It wasn't safe to keep looking at him...

I feel myself shudder at the feeling of his breath against my neck and ear. "A guide? To what?" I ask trying to keep my head clear. His low chuckle has my insides clenching again as I bite my lip in determination. "From what I've found so far, it looks like a guide to what's called a Beast Charmer."

I feel myself frowning at the term. "Beast Charmer?" I ask in question and he says "Hmmm.." as he presses his lips against my neck. "It's someone who can control the Beast inside me..." His lips brush against my neck with every word and I feel myself wanting to melt.

I slam the water bottle on the counter and do my best to slow my heart as I say "So how do we find this Beast Charmer?" I can feel him smile against my neck as he says "I already have..." He suddenly grabs the water bottle and walks away leaving me feeling cold and confused.

"You already have? Who?" I ask turning around and walking to him by the large windows. The sun was beginning to set washing everything in its familiar golden glow. He took a drink of water before he says "Well, I'm not completely sure but I'm pretty certain I have."

I lift my eyebrows and say "Well let's go find out. Where are they?" I ask pulling out my phone. "She's standing right next to me," Alec says causing me to freeze. I snap my head back up and look at him in confusion. "Meee?" I ask in disbelief and he begins to laugh.

"Yes, you." he says looking back out the windows as I begin resembling a fish. Me?? Like hell! "What makes you think that?" I ask clearly unconvinced. He gives me a small smile as he says "My Beast actually likes you... wants you. That's a first and when I get around you he's easier to control but I'm not completely certain."

I look at him with doubt and think about our interactions. I find myself frowning and before I think about it I blurt out "Is that why you're always wanting to touch me? Because your Beast likes me?" He looks back to me and says "I touch you because I want to touch you... we both like you but I won't let my Beast touch you."

I blink several times and ask "Why?" even though I feel like I already know why... "Because I don't trust him with you." He says with a serious look and suddenly I see his eyes shift as his Beast pushes at him trying to break free. I watch with fascination and then frown when I realize I should probably be running not staring in awe.

"And if I am a Charmer?" I ask feeling a cold chill running down my back when his eyes watch me with his Beast riding him like this. "Then there's no more running Kitten, you're mine... ours." His voice causes me to shiver as the promise hangs in the air.

"Ha..ha.. well, we don't know if I really am a Charmer right?? Until we know that for sure we shouldn't just jump to conclusions, you know?" I say with a strained smile and he returns it with a dark grin as he says "Sure Kitten, Whatever you say."
