Chapter 75：Things That Go Bump In The Night

Ace walks over to pick up my shoes and I quickly yell "Don't touch them! Just leave them there." Ace looks confused but he nods and leaves them there as he looks around the wooded area. Alec quickly carries me back as Chip asks "Are you okay? You should have waited for us! When we get inside I want to do a full body check!"

I roll my eyes and say "There's nothing wrong with my body... it's my heart and head you should be worried about." Alec chuckles again and brings me to the couch. Instead of putting me down he turns and sits so that I remain in his arms and for once I don't fight.

To be honest I was shaken. Chip does a full body scan and by the end of it, I'm okay to walk. Alec looks like he wants to pout and I give him a death glare. He chuckles again as I get a water bottle from the fridge.

"Look, give me murderers, psychos, serial killers, hell anything else and I'd be fine but this!? I don't do creepy!! I don't even watch scary movies!" I say slamming the water down as the guys try their best not to laugh but I still feel my cheeks burning.

"Let's see how all of you big bad guys would handle having that creepy ass thing chasing you!" I say and watch as they all bust out laughing. "Fine! Laugh it up!" I take an angry sip of the water as I walk over to the computers and pull up the cameras. The guys fight to control their laughter but fail miserably.

"What the hell was that Alec?" Alec looks at me gently and says "To be completely honest, I'm not sure. I've never seen anything like that in my entire life but my beast seemed to be familiar with it so I can only guess that this is the next wave..."

I feel my heart drop even more... I can't deal with things like this. The others all look at each other in worry. This wasn't looking good. "We need to find the book and Demon Heart. We need to close the portal now!" I say biting my lip. Chip places a small paw on my hand and says "Don't worry Maya we will get them and fix everything."

What no one realized was that when they heard Maya's scream everyone went running outside and left the door wide open. The pit in the forest did indeed have things in it but things have also already escaped the pit. The creature was black like it was covered in the tar-like substance and had long distorted arms and legs that bent at odd angles but it moves quickly with ease.

It was as large as a human but skinny like it hadn't eaten in years. It makes its way into the house and lifts its head, taking a deep breath. It's head jerks towards Maya's room as it latches onto the smell of a Charmer. It makes a clicking noise as it quickly crawls across the living room and down the hall.

It crawls around her room looking... looking for a spot to hide. Its eyes were so sunken in that it looked as if nothing was there but it did have eyes. Small pinpoint eyes that glowed a yellow color. Its fingers were long and slightly twisted like its feet. Its black body was covered in skin that was decaying and hanging off but the creature didn't seem to notice or care.

It walks to Maya's bed and stops at the side. It slowly tilts its head and strands of black hair can be seen hanging from its scalp. It smiles again showing a row of sharp jagged teeth as it lowers its creepy body and crawls under the bed. Here it will wait for the Charmer...

Maya and the others begin making plans for the rest of the day. With everything that's been happening they would need to keep an eye on the house and the surrounding area. Nero, Alec, and Remi all agreed that if something else came close to the house that it would be them to go out and deal with it.
