I stretch my neck from side to side as I grab a water bottle. I look up at the top of the temple to look at the sun and moon symbols. I realized that they told the time in a way. Since there weren't any windows or clocks it was impossible to tell how long you've been in here.
The symbol of the sun will slowly start to glow and the farther in the day it became the brighter it grew. Once the sun started to go down it would start to dim as the moon began to glow. It was incredibly cool but that was the least of my concerns.
I had been in here an entire night and full day. It was now growing dark once again and I could hear the creatures coming closer. It seems that they are mostly active at night... interesting. I take a few sips of the water and try not to think about my full bladder.
There wasn't a bathroom in here and there was no way in hell I was going out there... I put the water back and do my best to forget my bladder and my stomach growling in hunger. I still have no idea on how to get out of here so I need to save my food and water.
I turn back to the writing and continue reading. After another few hours, I jump up in excitement. Technically this could work... maybe? I run to my bag and dig through it looking for a marker or a pen but I find nothing. I look around the temple but it's still just as empty as it was before.
Shit... think Maya, think! I reach up to my necklace and quickly pull it off. I flick the necklace and watch with satisfaction as it grows into a lethal whip. The small discrete blades on the ends of the whip are wicked sharp so I take it and carefully hold it to draw on the ground.
The text said that you can summon smaller creatures to you... so maybe I could summon Chip. I'm not of this world... or maybe I am in a way. I'm a Charmer so maybe my ancestors came from this world? I have no idea but I'm willing to try anything at this moment.
After following the instructions I carve the symbols and wait.
Nothing happens... "I don't understand...." I look back to the text and reread it but I find myself wanting to cry. I snatch my whip up in anger and suck in when I accidentally cut myself. "Damnit.." I go to tear my shirt but then freeze. Wait a minute...
I squeeze my hand and frown at the pain. After more blood comes I begin writing the symbols again and this time I watch in wonder when they begin to glow a golden color. I close my eyes and focus on Chip but when I feel the air pressure shift I quickly open my eyes.
"Chip!!" I yell and run to him. Chip looks around in confusion but when he sees me his eyes light up in joy. "Maya!!" He meets me halfway. I wrap my arms around his neck and he wraps his big heavy paws around me.
I break down in tears knowing that this was real. I did it and it means that I can get out of here, plus I no longer had to be alone or worry about where Chip was. I pull back wiping at my tears "Where have you been?" Chip looks at me with sorrow as he says "I jumped in after you but I hit something and the next thing I know I'm in a desert of some kind... all alone."
"I couldn't establish a connection to the satellites or anything... I'm not a real cat so I couldn't even sniff you out!!" He roars out in a cry and I find my heart growing in warmth. I reach out to hug him again as I say "This is another world... they don't have satellites or anything like that here..."
Chip nods his head saying "I have noticed that. After a day of roaming, I was able to gather as much. How did I get here?" Chip finally asks as he begins looking around the temple. I stand up and rip the bottom of my shirt to wrap my hand.
"What happened!? Are you okay??" Chip asks coming closer to look. I wave him off and say "I'm fine, it's not bad. I was able to bring you here using this text." I step back lifting my arms as I look around the large glowing text.
Chip looks around in shock before he says "This is the language I was trying to understand back in our world... you didn't know this before right? How are you able to understand now?" He tilts his head to the side in an adorable manner as he looks at me in confusion.
