Chapter 89 - 89. Avoid Her

"Now I realize that my feelings for Elise do not love. My feelings for Elise are limited to protecting, sympaty and not wanting her to be hurt at all. But it's different from my feelings for Elena."

"I've always wanted to be with Elena until my death. And I don't want to be away from her. It feels like I really can't breathe properly if she's not around me. It feels like my lungs are tight every time, I think and miss her."

"That's why I have to keep myself busy with work. To get rid of Elena's shadow from my mind. I also can't afford to go home early because I don't want Elise to realize that now my heart has changed for her."

Freddy took a deep breath. Seeing the look on Brian's face has proven how frustrated and tormented he is with his current heart problem.

"Then what do you want to do? You can't keep torturing yourself with work like this."

Brian rubbed his face in a huff. Frustrated by the situation on this one. He missed Elena a lot. Brian was eager to meet her. Even just hearing Elena's voice was enough to treat Brian's longing. But that is impossible. Brian has ordered several people to find Elena's whereabouts. But there are still no results and there are no signs or traces of Elena's whereabouts. Elena or Diego disappeared as if swallowed by the earth.

"You already have Elise, so you have to forget about Elena and bury your love."

"I've tried to do it. But the more I try, the more I can't forget it. I even dream about it every night."

"Then what about Elise? You can't go on like this. You will only hurt Elise by avoiding and getting away from her."

Brian brushed and ruffled his hair. He was getting frustrated by Freddy's question.

"If you can't forget Elena, you better let Elise go. Don't hold Elise to stay with you while your heart doesn't belong to her. I'm sure Elise will be sad and tormented by your attitude. She deserves to be happy."

Brian looked up at Freddy, "you mean?"

"You just divorce Elise and pursue Elena's love."

"Can't. I can't do that. I promised Elise that I would never divorce or leave her. How could I break my promise."

"Then, are you going to continue like this?"

Brian was silent and did not answer Freddy. He closed his eyes tired. All of this tormented his mind. On the one hand, he loves and misses Elena. But on the one hand he was also unable to tell Elise the truth. Plus he had promised Elise that he would not divorce her. Since childhood Brian has always kept every promise he made. His late father always emphasized that a man must keep his promises. So, Brian couldn't break the promise he had made to Elise.

Night's getting late. The night wind blows slowly. Makes the atmosphere even cooler. But that didn't make Elise budge. She was still standing on the edge of the balcony wearing only her red pajamas. Even though the clock showed eleven o'clock at night, Elise was not sleepy at all. Lots of things to keep her awake, all of them related to Brian.

Brian had been home late for more than two weeks. Every time Elise asked Brian always said the company was having a new project that made him have to overtime. But Elise could tell that Brian just wanted to avoid her. The man has changed. He only spoke modestly and didn't pay attention to Elise anymore like before. Even Brian always avoided when Elise wanted to kiss or make out with him.

Ever since Elise listened to Brian to baby Dean about missing Elena.  then she has always been suspicious and watched Brian's every move. And even though Elise denies and rejects all her perceptions, she realizes that now Brian doesn't love her like before. Elena was already inside Brian's mind and heart. Things that Elise had never imagined and dreamed of. It's like a nightmare for her.

She always believed that Brian loved her very much. Love Elise so much that Brian dared to oppose Rena's decision and marry her. Brian even survived and did not leave her when he found out that her body was no longer a virgin. Brian even always defended her in front of his mother. That has always led Elise to believe that Brian will never turn away or be attracted to another woman.

But she was wrong. She was so self-conscious that she didn't realize that anything could happen. Brian turned and was attracted to another woman. The woman that Elise had handed Brian herself. The woman who is her only family. Her twin sister, Elena.

Elise would never have imagined Brian would be attracted and fall in love with Elena. But apparently anything can happen. Brian falls in love with Elena.

Previously, Elise thought Brian's feelings for Elena were temporary. Just because Elena was always with Brian for a few months while she was away. And she is sure that Brian will forget about Elena with time.

But again, it was only Elise's hope. It's not that Brian forgot Elena, but the man is getting away and away from her. Elise knew Brian was working overtime so he could avoid her. That man never wanted to talk to Elise for a long time. She don't know, maybe because Brian feels guilty, or because he doesn't want Elise to know that he doesn't love Elise the way he used to.

What should Elise do? She really loves Brian. She didn't want Brian to go and leave her. For Elise, Brian is everything. It was the man who had pulled her from her dark past, that man was her place to shelter and depend. If Brian left her ....

Not! Whatever happens, Brian can't leave her. Brian had promised not to divorce and leave her. Elise will survive even though now Brian's heart has turned away.
