Priscilla held my arm as I forcefully walked down the corridor of the bottom floor. The sound of Johannes's footsteps behind us filled my ears. Priscilla's daughter continued to sleep in my arms. She was small and weighed as light as a feather. I sighed.
I was mentally preparing myself for the sight of what I had read in my history textbooks in my first quarter at Uni. The TransAtlantic trade was a brutal trade which involved slaves and cargo. This was the first time that humans were treated as property and bought as such.
The corridor kept getting narrower and narrower as we walked down it. Only several lamps hung above creating a grim and dimly lit feel. My nausea wouldn't abate from the movement of the Ocean under us. For some reason as we neared the large room of the passengers I thought of Baron. I sighed.
His smile would most likely brighten my mood right now. The melancholy and sadness that I've been feeling lately unhealthy. I've been on the edge for quite some time. I hope that after I take care of this event I can be t some rest and relax.
Priscilla stopped in front of two large mahogany doors.
Lord above this ship sure was fucking huge. The door itself was almost bigger than my ship. I inhaled and exhaled as I stretched my bandages arm out. Priscilla pulled on my shoulder as I turned to face her. Concern filled her face as she said.
"Are you sure that you want to go in Miss Mila."
Frankly I did not want to go in. I was afraid. Afraid of seeing the terrible truth. Afraid of watching them suffer while I could do nothing but watch. Afraid of my helplessness and frustration. I sighed for the nth time today as I smiled at Priscilla and handed her daughter to her.
"Miss Mila they might not treat you well as first. Put yourself in their shoes and understand that the only thing that they've see from your people is suffering."
I nodded at the reality of the situation. I did not want to see their faces grow fearful as they watch me. I turned to look at a smirking Johannes. One day I will use a dagger and carve that smirk right off of his face. I chuckled at the thought.
"You know my dear Mila. You might just be more chivalrous than a man with your brave antics."
I stopped in my tracks as I turned and glared at Johannes.
"I'm not chivalrous Johannes. It's just that I might be more of a human than a devil like yourself. If you call what I'm doing chivalrous then I call your behavior bitchy and immature. You remind me of a privileged child who has never felt pain. That's why you're so fascinated by it. But mark my words Johannes, if it isn't me, one day someone will hurt you. And that's the day where you'll wish that you've never messed with pain."
"Now stop pissing me off Johannes and scram."
As I placed my right hand on the door handle I quickly turned and said.
"If you dare touch Priscilla or her daughter I'll come to you while you're sleeping and cut your d*** off. Do you understand?"
Johannes nodded as he chuckled and turned on his heel. He then started to walk in the opposite direction towards the stairs to the upper levels of the ship. He waved as he said.
"Don't say that I didn't warn you about what you're going to see my dear."
I ignored him as I pulled open both doors. As I looked at the sight in front of my only one thought filled my mind.
I wished that I had heeded their warnings. I wish that I had not ate anything before walking here. I wish that I had just minded my one business. I wish that I did not do such a thing so quickly. I wish that o wasn't such a stupid fuck.
