I looked towards her as she was curled inside the blanket with her head covered too, like a cat. I sighed and asked her, "Jeez… do devils get cranky when they're sick?"
"Shut up!" Her irritated voice replied from under the covers, as I looked at her childish behaviour in confusion and waited for sometime while the silence grew louder in the room. Taking a slight pause, I asked in an uncertain tone, "Are you cold?"
"Huh?" She popped her head out of the blanket and stared at me in apparent confusion on her face. We stared at each other awkwardly for a while, before I nervously chuckled and started, "I mean, winter is coming, and you sleep on the floor. Wait… do you guys get cold like us humans?"
That was really embarrassing for me as Lilith was probably getting second hand embarrassment from me. She removed the blanket and let out a heavy breath as her crimson eyes stared at me and she asked, "Saishi… are you sick?"
"What the…'' I narrowed my eyes on her as she sat up and the blanket slid off her shoulders, revealing her silver hairs which were reflecting off the tiny moonlight that was coming through the window. Tilting her head sideways, she asked in a dubious tone, "Why are you being so considerate?"
She was saying that as if being considerate was a big deal for me. I gave her a slight shrug and said in my usual plain tone, "I'm not. I just don't want you to get sick."
It startled her for a moment as her eyes widened up and her face became slightly red. Averting her eyes from me, her pitch rose up as she said in a stone cold tone, "What did you say!?"
I was confused at that moment as to why she reacted that way. It took me sometime to realise that my previous phrase was very misleading. I instantly shook my head and replied, "Because I don't want you to spread your fever to me."
"Don't get any wrong ideas, Devil-chan." I said, looking at her, as she chuckled and pointed her index finger towards me with a smug face and said, "Ah here… the Jerkmaki I know."
I looked at her with a distasteful look. She was giggling at the roast she made, and I couldn't help but sigh in annoyance. Looking towards her laughing with her mouth covered, I said in a disappointed tone, "What the… Jerkmaki? Seriously?"
She stopped laughing for a bit and her eyes moved diagonally upwards as she appeared to be thinking of something. The smugness was still intact on her face. Trying to keep a straight face, she opened her mouth, "No, actually Bakamaki would be a great name."
(A/N: Baka = Idiot/Stupid in Japanese. You're smart enough to get the rest)
Well, at least it was better than Jerkmaki. Her sense of humour was definitely cracked. Finally, I found someone who exists with a worse sense of humour than me. Though I preferred 'Bakamaki' more.
I shook my head from left to right and let out a sigh as the sound of her laughter filled up the silence in the room. It appeared like she was feeling better than before, but I still didn't want her to sleep on the cold floor despite the futon.
My eyes shifted towards the bed and it was obviously not big enough for two people, but it was quite a reasonable size. Since she wasn't very tall, I wouldn't have any problems with her sleeping next to me.
I shifted backwards a little and raised the blanket as I looked towards her and she was staring at me curiously. With my right hand, I patted the empty space next to and gestured to her to come inside the covers, "Anyways… I want to talk… come here."
"Eh… pervert! Idiot!" Her cheeks again became red as I realised that everything I was doing for the past few minutes was quite misleading. Before I could say anything, she asked with a frown on her face and puffed up cheeks, "What the hell is wrong with you!?"
"You're the only wrong thing from hell here." I replied as she stared at me for a while and acknowledged that the roast was good. Clenching her chest, she imitated to be hurt, "Ouch!"
"Weren't you the one who wanted to sleep in the same bed as me when you first came here?" I said, resting my head on my hand as I stared at her and she replied instantly with a chuckle, "I didn't know Bakamaki was a jerk back then."
At this rate, she will forget I was ever Sakamaki. This is the rise of Bakamaki but I'll have to stop this in order to prevent Sakamaki from ceasing to exist. In a serious tone, I said, "Stop with the Bakamaki."
"Okay Bakamaki. I won't use Bakamaki anymore even though Bakamaki sounds great. Is that alright, Bakamaki?" She nodded innocently after repeating Bakamaki four times as I sighed, "Shut up, will you?"
There was a bit of silence between us as the sound of her getting up from the futon turned my attention towards her. Our eyes met as she was about to sit on the bed as she warned me, "Don't get any wrong ideas!"
"You're the one having wrong thoughts." I said, turning towards the wall, as I felt the mattress beside me getting pressed down by her weight.
It was a quiet winter night, and now that she was actually next to me, I realised that the bed was quite small. I could feel her every movement, as she was getting comfortable. I could hear her breathing, as I was getting a bit nervous.
"Wow… this is quite war…" She said in a cheerful tone, as I was about to turn around to look at her, she grabbed my shoulder tightly and said in a hostile tone, "Don't turn around, or I'll knock you out cold."
"Jeez! As if I already haven't seen you in a bath towel.." I said, as I could hear her gasp for a moment. In a calm voice, she asked, "So… what did you want to talk about?"
