Chapter 52 - Sweet Tongue, Poisoned Mouth

Last night it was really cloudy, so I thought that today in the morning, we'll receive rainfall but as I looked outside from my window, everything looked dry. The sun was shining brightly, and I could feel the heat of it on my face.

"Yeah, that's called outside. You should go sometimes." Lilith said, noticing me gazing outside the window.

"Ah, and how do I go to school? Without going outside?" I emphasized the word 'outside'. She looked at me for a few moments with her curious eyes, and then walked closer to me.

"What!?" I said as her body pressed against mine and she took a peek outside the window while putting her right hand on my shoulders for support. I could feel the warmth from her body as she just got out of the futon.

"It'll rain today." She stepped back and looked at me with an affirmative look.

"Huh?" I asked in confusion because I checked the weather forecast on my mobile and it definitely showed that there was a 45% chance of raining, but looking outside and ignoring that 5% probability, I can tell that it won't rain today.

"Yes, don't forget to carry your umbrella." She advised me.

"But in the news, it showed that there is a 55% probability of it not raining so I'm not going to carry that umbrella with me." I said, as it takes some space inside my bag and makes it a bit bumpy from the side. Taking the bag on my shoulder feels weird then, because the bump from the umbrella pokes the side of my stomach.

"But I'm sure that it'll rain, carry the umbrella with you." She was persistent about it.

"Nah, I'll be fine. Don't worry."

"If it really rains, I won't go to your school to give you an umbrella." She said, narrowing her  eyes at me. "Or do you want a beauty like me to go to your school to pick you up?" She added with a smug face.

"Absolutely No. I can't let anyone know about you." I said as I took my bag from my desk and walked towards the main door.

"Eh...why?" She tilted her head playfully. I assumed she was in a mood to tease me, so it was better for me to not continue this conversation.

"Nothing." I turned the knob of the door, unlocking it, and stepped outside.

"So you will not take the umbrella after all?" She sighed. I just shook my head in denial.

"You're quite stubborn." She sighed and closed the door as I moved forward with my day.

After lunchtime, as the periods were passing by, I could look at the dark clouds forming in the sky. Despite how sunny it was till the end of the first half, I could tell that it was going to pour now. The tree branches were also swinging from the wind blowing outside.

Looks like Lilith was right and the weather forecast was wrong. I should've listened to her carry an umbrella with me, but I didn't expect her to be right. I thought she was saying some nonsense again, that's why I ignored her. Now she's going to pinch me about this event for the rest of time she is going to be with me.

Well, if the rain doesn't start when our school ends, I can probably make it home if I run. But what if it starts pouring while I'm on the way? I'm going to get wet either way.

Turning towards Tsūmen, I asked him, "Hey you brought your umbrella?"

"Yeah, it's always in my bag." He nodded.

"Huh?"

"I'm just too lazy to take it out." He laughed awkwardly.

Seems like his laziness becomes really useful in situations like this. But as if everyone saw the forecast today, I'm sure that most of the people didn't bring their umbrella. But since Tsūmen brought his umbrella, I don't have to think that much now.

"I forgot mine." I said in a plain tone.

"Well we can walk downtown together and you can rent one from any shop there." He suggested, and I was in favour of that because it was a good idea. Good ideas rarely come from Tsūmen.

"That's quite a good idea, coming from you." I said.

"I don't know if that was a compliment or not. But screw you." He said with a sarcastic smile.

The last period was also over, and everyone was leaving the class. I looked outside the window and it was raining. The water droplets running down the glass made it difficult to get a clear view of the outside.

I picked up my bag and walked towards the door. Tsūmen was waiting for me outside the class. I noticed Yasurouka standing up from her chair and walking towards the door, too. Looking at her empty hand, I safely assumed that she also was with me and didn't bring her umbrella.

"Oi, where is Gaisen and your bestie?" I called out from behind.

She turned towards me and said, "Well, they went ahead." Her voice sounded down and her expression was rather one with a smile that you put on when you don't want people to know what's going inside you.

"Ah, I see." I replied.

"Yeah, a couple of things. You won't understand." She chuckled.

"You're saying as if you have a boyfriend." I retorted back.

"Why did you hurt me like that?" Albeit she said that in a joking manner, her eyes looked at me with hurt, which almost made me think that maybe my words did hurt her.

The way of her saying something and the way she thought that inside her mind was completely in contradiction with each other. Though these were my speculations, it seemed like her tongue was as sweet as sugar, but her mind was poisoned.

"Don't worry, we are both single so it doesn't matter." I said, as we walked outside the class and Tsūmen noticed us.

"Yo, Yasu-san" He waved at her with a smile but that was meant for me as he glanced towards me for a moment.

"Didn't notice you there, Yuki-kun."

"Yuki? What happened to Yukimura-kun?" He asked, as yesterday she said that she will stick to calling him Yukimura-kun instead of any nicknames.

"Ahh that's too big." She shrugged and laughed.

Tsūmen looked at us with a mischievous smile and opened his mouth to spit the words, "That's wh…"

"Shut the fuck up!" I cut him off as I knew what he was going to say. Yasurouka giggled at this exchange between me and him.

"Oooof" Tsūmen laughed while patting my shoulder and the three of us walked towards the show lockers.
