I was walking through the corridor towards the teacher's office, carrying a bunch of notebooks in my hands. Many students were walking around, as it was the rush hour of lunchtime.
A slight groan reached my ear from my side. Walking next to me was a classmate of mine whom I didn't talk much to, but we still knew each other.
"Damn, didn't expect her to ask for our notebooks." Tanaka complained in a restless tone.
I gave him a side glance and asked, "Are your assignments not complete?"
He turned towards me instantly with a surprised face and nodded vigorously, "That's not the point."
We shared an awkward glance with nothing but silence and the weight of the notebooks pressing down on our arms, "..."
With a sigh, he continued hesitantly, "Ok, that is some of the reason behind it, but you know…"
I nodded and went with him through the flow of the conversation because he'll annoy me otherwise. "Yeah she didn't tell us beforehand about this submission."
"Yeah."
We went to the teacher's table and submitted the notebooks. Alll this while Tanaka was sweating nervously, hoping the teacher wouldn't start looking through the notebooks in front of us.
Luckily that wasn't the case since teacher's were about to eat too. We left the staff room and went on our way from there. I was planning to head to the Kendo club again as I was more than welcomed there.
On my way towards the club, I glanced over towards the playground, and noticed that the selection for sprint was going on. There Nishimiya and Gaisen were standing on the starting line next to each other.
There were other students too, and as soon as the coach blew his whistle, everyone bursted into the track at full throttle. As the sprint just started, few students were already flying through the track.
And in the first position was Nishimiya. He was running so fast that it made others appear as if they were walking. I glanced over to find Gaisen and he was relatively slower than Nishimiya.
Well, from what I've seen, on the field Gaisen isn't much of a fast player but he mostly relies on his dribbling skill and then on the other hand we had Nishimiya who runs just as fast as this with a ball on his feet.
Both Gaisen and Nishimiya will get chosen for the sprint so there was no point in staying and watching the whole thing finish. I continued my walk towards the club.
As I was nearing the club, I noticed Vivian walking out of the club with an irritated look on his face. His eyes met with mine as he walked past me without saying anything. Looking at his composure, I thought it was better to not start a conversation with him.
I strolled into the club and looked around as it again felt empty, like the first day. The lights were turned off, and no one was there. I could hear faint voices coming from the room inside, so I headed towards it.
The wooden door was open and I could see Ryuhan, Yuna and Naoto standing in the room with a concerned expression on their faces. Not planning to barge in all of a sudden, I cleared my throat as all of them looked at me.
"Is it a good time to talk?" I asked, showing a bit of hesitation to appear considerate.
Ryuhan turned his head towards me and narrowed his eyes for an instant before continuing with a dubious smile on his face, "Oh… yea yea… come in."
I walked inside and glanced at Ryuhan and Yuna who looked oddly troubled with something. As Naoto, her expression was calm and collected. She looked at me for an instant and returned her gaze towards them.
"Is something wrong, Senpai?" The awkward tension in the room broke as I spoke up.
"You know when the sports festival is?" Ryuhan's eyes shifted at me, and in a low voice he asked.
Tilting my head at the question, I answered in confusion, "Umm… next week."
As soon as I said that, his eyes grew wide, and he held my shoulders with his hands as he yelled, "Yes! Exactly! Look at our club!"
"Oi, oi chill…." I walked back a few steps because of his sudden outburst.
He let go of me but I could see him clenching his fists, "How can I chill… no one is training…
let alone… no one is even in the club right now!"
As he said in the last part, it was indeed weird that when the club should be busy with other members training around and stuff, it was empty. Not even a single member was sparring.
"Ora! Naoto, what the heck are you doing?!" He gave her a sharp look and his voice was rather rough than usual. Naoto was looking right into his eyes without saying anything, or rather she didn't bother answering him.
Ryuhan was slowly getting pissed from the way Naoto senpai was acting and looking at this, Yuna stepped in, "Ryuhan-san, calm down… you're stressing a lot."
"I have to stress a lot… it seems like the President-san doesn't give a damn about her club." He said, emphasising on the 'president' part as he almost mocked her.
I was standing there in the room feeling like an idiot as I didn't know what to say to mediate this argument. "Senpai… just calm down for a bit."
"You don't understand Sakamaki, compared to last year, our club is a shit hole right now." He said in an exhausted tone.
"Ryuhan!" Yuna tried to stop him, but things were only progressing towards the worst. Now I understand why Vivian had that expression a few moments ago.
"What? I'm just trying to be honest here!"
"Ryuhan-san seems like you have a problem with me?" Hearing his words, Naoto's poker face finally gave in and she stared at him with her dark eyes. She narrowed her eyes and said in her impersonal voice.
"Not everything is about you, Miss President." Ryuhan retorted back sarcastically, which seemed to trigger Naoto.
"Are you pissed because I was chosen as the president and not you?" Naoto said with a frown and Ryuhan raised his eyebrows in disbelief.
"Oh…" "Now you have said it… huh!?"
Yuna was standing on the side, looking at both of them in confusion about what she should do to stop them. Looking at how things are going, this fight will be useful to me.
