Kizhashi's POV
I was on my way towards the tennis selection with Kana, but we were caught in a conversation with Gaisen and Tsūmen and the weird little jerk Saishi. They were teasing him about his confession to Tsubakihara senpai. I was in no hurry, so I was enjoying it.
Well, looking at him carefully, I could notice his ears getting slightly red. Saishi being embarrassed is something that none of us can really imagine, but then again, he is so good at keeping it subtle that no one would notice it.
"Hey Kizashi-san," A familiar voice called out my name and the source of the voice walked from behind the boys.
"Uye...no-san?" Her sudden appearance took me by surprise and I was confused because I wasn't expecting Uyeno to talk to me again after that incident.
After a bit of awkward silence between us, while everyone was staring at Uyeno momentarily, Gaisen broke the silence, "Hello Uyeno-san, long time no see."
"Hi there Seifuku-kun," Her eyes shifted towards him and a forced smile formed on her face.
"What's up? Do you need something?" I asked her, as it seemed like she had business with me.
"I wanted to talk." She looked at me for a moment and, sighing, she turned her head slowly to look around her and set her gaze back at me.
"Can it be done later? I'm going for the tennis selection process." I tried to avoid this meeting with her. I'll never talk with her alone in my right mind after that day. I was actually feeling nervous, too.
"It's really import… Oi Isobe, come here!" She stopped mid-sentence and looked behind her to call her friend.
Great! Isobe is here, too. But what's with this passive-submissive vibe she is giving. She acts really well around boys to appear cute. God! I hate this girl!
"Oh, Isobe-san is here too?" I pointed it out as Isobe walked up to her and stood with an awkward smile on her face while trying to avoid eye contact with me.
"Yeah, we need to talk about something." Isobe said in her usual assertive tone.
Hearing her tone, Gaisen narrowed his eyes towards her and then shifted his gazes at me. I was just as confused as him at that moment.
Catching up on the pressure in the atmosphere, Kana spoke up finally, "Well then, see you later, Kizhashi." She added, "Let's go Saki and Reina."
"Wait, I want all of you to stay here too." As she was about to leave, Uyeno stopped her, which was really weird since she didn't even know who Kana was in the first place.
"Areh? Why is that?" Kana looked at Uyeno with a confused look and everyone else was surprised too.
"You good?" Reina's eyes narrowed in suspicion, and Uyeno clenched her jaws as she noticed her reaction. Knowing her, she didn't like Uyeno and her group at all.
"I… yes I'm good." She said, with a hint of hesitation in her voice. Kana gave me a side glance and her eyes shifted towards both of them again. Everyone was trying to figure out what was happening because, for those of us who knew Uyeno, we could easily tell that something was off because she wasn't the type of girl to act like that.
"Can you come out of the class for a bit?" She pointed towards the doorway and called me.
"Yeah....?" I nodded and followed her outside the class. As I got out, I noticed a bunch of people were gathered there from other classes too. I noticed Haruka standing in the back with a concerned look on his face. His eyes were wandering around him and it met mine and he smiled at me with a little wave.
"Shit! How did this many people gather here!?" Uyeno looked around her and rolled her eyes in irritation.
"Don't ask me… it was all him." Haruka shrugged and pointed towards his classmates, who seemed to attract many people here. I remember when she was accusing me of cheating with her boyfriend. It was something similar to this. I wonder what it is this time.
"Damn it, that guy!" She clicked her tongue, and I could tell that she was pissed.
"What's wrong?" Haruka asked her, as she was looking quite restless too. Haruka was a good guy. I don't know why she would suspect him of cheating on her. If I was to be honest, their relationship was quite toxic.
"Uyeno-san, may I know what you wanted to tell Kizhashi?" Gaisen said in a stern tone that he rarely uses. He was quite serious, too.
'Ah yeah… about that…" Her eyes shifted over to me and she looked at me with empty eyes.
'I don't know how to say it…" Her eyes were at me but she wasn't looking at me. It looked like they were wandering around as she was fiddling with her fingers.
"Just get this over with!" Isobe said in a sharp tone.
"You are saying as if this doesn't concern you." Uyeno shot back.
"Shut up!"
"Is something wrong?" I asked again. Looking at the way they're behaving, I couldn't tell what she was trying to do.
"Wait… wait…" She showed me her palm and again looked around her. I could see that she was clearly anxious.
"Ok listen... I… like…" She stared towards me and started talking hesitantly, "I'm so… sorry for th… th... that day."
Hearing those words, I couldn't believe my ear. I looked at her face as she was bowing her head and strands of her hair were hanging loose in front of her. I didn't know how to react to those words, or this situation, "It's okay… just leave it."
"No, we're really sorry, please forgive us." Isobe said in a louder voice and both of them said at the same time, "We will do nothing like that, ever again!"
Students standing around us were as surprised as me. I looked over to Gaisen and he pretty much knew what they were apologizing for but he was still in disbelief.
Other students were also making comments now. "Like what?"
There was a minor commotion going on around us, and I could feel everyone's eyes on me. "What is she talking about?"
"What's going on?"
"It's okay… raise your head… you're embarrassing me." I was getting uncomfortable, because I didn't like it when people talk among themselves about me or give me weird stares.
"So forgive us right?" Isobe instantly looked up into my eyes. There was a small smile on her face and I could see Uyeno giving me glances too. This whole situation was so random that it left me dumbfounded.
