"I actually kissed…" Shiraishi smiled softly, as her voice sounded like a whisper in my ear. I glanced at the boy, who didn't say a word, but just kept staring at her as it seemed like the time around both of them was frozen.
I was standing still with a stiff expression on my face, while my eyes were wandering over both of them. The boy let out a heavy breath, and in a deep and low voice, he said, "I'm so done with you!"
Shiraishi looked at him in awe. Raising her hand, she reached for him but slapping her hand away, he looked at her with melancholy in his dark eyes and said, "You're shallow, and I don't want to be in this relationship!"
Retracting her hand back, she looked at him but there wasn't a single trace of remorse in her eyes. It felt like she was being empathetic because the situation forced her to. I could recognise the facade behind those eyes, as I was guilty of doing that too.
"Listen… it wasn't anything serious…" She said in a plain tone, trying to defend herself as the boy looked at her disbelief and a chaotic smile formed on his face as he leaned towards her and yelled, "Yeah? Kissing a random guy while being in a relationship isn't a big deal?"
I could understand why he was mad. No one would want their partner to cheat on them. On top of that, she was trying to defend herself with the cover of dismissing it's value.. I didn't know she had a boyfriend, otherwise I wouldn't have put up with that kiss.
He walked closer to her as she stepped back, still trying to keep a subtle smile on her face, as she was back against a wall and he slammed his hand around her. Leaning close to her ear, he asked, "Do you have loose screws?"
"No it's not like that… listen…" She said in a hesitant tone, as her head was against the wall and she glanced at me for an instant before looking at the boy, who yelled again, "Then what is it like? You crazy hoe!"
It was quite a scene that was unfolding before my eyes. I have never seen couples fighting like that in public, or rather I was never the reason for one of those fights. Things between them were getting quite heated up but there wasn't anything I could do.
I was a stranger to both of them, and the fact that she kissed a stranger was probably what was triggering the boy named Shig. It was best for me to keep my mouth shut. I looked around and noticed a few pairs of eyes gazing on them.
Sound of quickly paced footsteps approaching me turned my attention towards the person as I noticed a girl with short blonde hair walking towards the scene. Her narrowed, calculating eyes observing them as she approached them and asked in a concerned tone, "Suzuha, you alright?"
"Moriko…" Shiraishi said her name, as that girl's eyes shifted towards the boy and as he let out an irritated sigh, and turning towards the blonde girl, he said, "Great! You have come too… I'm not putting on a show here!"
The girl was taken aback by his sudden outrage on her as she stepped back with a nervous face and confusion in her eyes. It seemed like both of them knew the girl and she was probably Shiraishi's friend.
"Why are you so…" The girl opened her mouth to ask something but before she could even finish, the boy cracked at her. Clenching his fists, he yelled at her in pure annoyance, "Shut up! Just Shut up!"
A frown formed on her face, as she narrowed her hazel eyes at him, and with an awkward smile, continued, "Jeez, dude, chill… what happened?"
"She is my girlfriend, right?" Shig asked, pointing towards Shiraishi who was still back against the wall with a disturbed look on her face, as the blonde girl glanced at Shiraishi and nodded as a gesture for him to continue, "Mhm…"
"And she kissed this dude…" He said, pointing towards me as the girl looked at him in confusion and tilted her head. Pinching his temples in irritation, he tapped his foot on the ground again, and said with a slight chuckle, "... and says that it ain't a big deal!"
The girl stared at him, then her gazes shifted towards me. It appeared as if she wasn't aware of my presence till that moment. Her eyes travelled all over me from head to toe, as she pointed towards me with her index finger and asked, "And who are you?"
"I think you have more important things at your hand than to know my name." I replied in a calm tone as she slowly nodded her head. I could tell that my answer did not satisfy her.
Not paying much attention to me, she turned around and looked at the boy, who had this grim expression on his face and, taking a slight pause, she started, "Bruh… you know Suzuha is like that… what can I say?"
Suzuha, she said? That means this girl named Moriko was indeed her friend since she was also on a first name basis with her. I was judging her whole friend circle left and right. Moriko was rather composed between them.
"What can you say!?!" The boy looked at the girl in disbelief, as he started laughing and that startled Moriko. He was finally reaching his limit to tolerate her bullshit, as he pointed towards Shiraishi and said with a clenched fist, "She is your friend and you're defending her for this?"
"I'm not…" Moriko sighed as her short blonde hair moved a bit, and the voice of Shiraishi finally entered the conversation after being quiet for a long time, "See… I was gonna break up with you either way… that's why I said it isn't a big deal."
"Why!" He asked, as his frustration was clear from his tone. Moriko and Shiraishi were both staring at him without saying a single word. He again repeated himself in a much louder voice, "Why!"
Looking at Moriko, I could tell that there was a hint of pity in her eyes for this boy. She had a distasteful look on her face, as it seemed like she was quite familiar with Shiraishi considering what she said a few moments earlier.
"Well I think I have someone better now." Shiraishi replied, as the anticipation in Shig's eyes gave out and a look of despair and disbelief formed on his face. His eyes were staring at her, but they felt so cold at that moment as the realisation was slowly creeping upon him.
