After the walls were cleared of any droids, Diesel and the other Mandalorians boarded their sh.i.p.s heading to space. Ril'ah was left on the ground to lead the ground forces to take back the city. The siege suffered caused the resistance to receive many losses. However, with the walls completely under the control of the resistance the rest of the city should fall without much problems.
The resistance had around two thousand fighters left on the ground, Ril'ah broke them in three groups of Six hundred for each of the main streets. Leaving One-Hundred and Fifty for reinforcements, for any of the three main groups. He gave the remaining fifty their own mission to complete. Staring one last time at the map, Ril'ah believed he made the final preparations and ordered the attack on the Palace.
The battle in the side streets went extremely smooth, however the battle for the center was very gruel-some. The remaining droids far exceeded the reports, thankfully the Shields that they created for the battle have prevented the fighters from being quickly overrun. Forcing Ril'ah to deploy the extra 150 relief fighters, much earlier than he expected. This greatly slowed the advancement towards the palace. No one side could over push in fear the droids would flank the side, with the numbers from the reports being wrong. They didn't want to make a mistake that would cost the siege.
Looking at the map again Ril'ah needed to do something that could affect the battle and allow the center to gain the much needed moral. "Are they in position yet?"
"Yes, Ril'ah. Are you sure this is gonna work?"
"No. I think it's time to increase our odds of winning." Having watched Diesel for an extremely for over a year now. He knew people would move when someone was setting an example. Diesel has been giving people hope fighting on the frontline, taking the lead in every battle. Ril'ah decided he was gonna be the Diesel of this battle. "I'm heading to the center, wait for my orders and then we will supply the trap."
Arriving at the front, Ril'ah grabs any extra shields he can and any extra ammo and grenades he can. He looks at his friend Sid. "Will you follow me to my last stand?"
"Of course." Both of them ready behind one of the shields.
"Attention all Resistance fighters! This is your current ground force leader Ril'ah, the center is being pushed back, I've decided to move to the center and help forge a path! Do not quit! Do not give up! This is our planet! Diesel has given us a chance to fight! Diesel has given us hope! WHO ARE WE TO SURRENDER THAT HOPE TO A BUNCH OF DROIDS! FOLLOW ME MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS! WE SHALL CREATE A NEW FUTURE! NOW FOLLOW ME AND DESTROY OUR ENEMIES!"
The speech made all the Resistance Fighters to pause before looking to notice that Ril'ah indeed joined them on the front line. He activated his shield on a small floating platform and began forcing his way forward. The closer he got to the droids the more fire Ril'ah would take, the gunfire caused his shield to completely deplete, Luckily Sid was ready and immediately activated a second shield. Both of them began sprinting, swapping our shields anytime the previous one would get close to deplete.
Knowing that he wasn't Diesel, Ril'ah crashed them into the left side of the formation leaving their backs to the wall. "Sid you in charge of the shield do not fail or we will die!"
"I KNOW!" Ril'ah began tossing smokes and thermal detonators over the shields that were depleting extremely quickly at this point. Ril'ah was causing extreme damage and confusion in the left side of the ranks of the Droids. Every detonator taking out multiple droids, even if he was thinning the left ranks, the amount of fire that was focused on them never relented.
Resistance Fighters began noticing the fire they were facing was beginning to lessen and seeing the amount of smoke coming for the left side of the droids was completely shut-down. "Shield Units pushing on the left, all units throw smokes!" Those orders caused hundreds of Smokes to be thrown and cover the entire middle of the street. This small opportunity caused by Ril'ah and Sid was exactly what they needed. Every fighter pushed hard and threw the smokes using the shield as protection.
"NOW!" Most of the street in the rear of the droids exploded, completely decimating the rear army of the droids. The large explosion caused most of the droids to halt, giving the resistance a small window. Shortly after the explosion, roughly fifty Resistance Fighter poured out of the hole and began taking out the droids from behind.
Shortly after the ambush the resistance meet up with Obi-Wan and the queen. They heard the news of the death of Qui-Gon at the hands of a Sith Lord, another loss that they would have to mourn later. The Joining of the Queen and the resistance however, did represent the winning of the ground battle. Now, they awaited the news from space.
