Chapter 385 – The truth hurts too much. (1)

Sitting inside the car, Huo Sishen watched intensely with his dark eyes as the xuan paper displayed on the cellphone screen.

He knew it was a painting of a scenery.

But he didn’t know it looked like this when completed.

A wife and a child waiting for another one’s return?

He closed his eyes and his breathing was labored.

Nevertheless, the noises coming through the cellphone was lively.

The elderlies from the art association apparently had much more in-depth comprehension as well as various interpretation with regards to this painting.

“I don’t think this woman was looking at the waterfall that is cascading down. I think she was looking at the person returning from the fog.”

“I can’t believe she was able to create such a tender and loving detail under the grandeur aura of the mountains. Those fogs around the mountains perfectly mixed the dynamic and the serenity, no, it made one guessed whether the person had returned. The entire dynamic of painting was hidden within this white space.”

“Incredible! Just incredible! Sometimes less is more. There was no third person in this painting but it made viewers pondered about what a handsome and talented man the husband was.”

“As only an amazing individual would have such a beautiful and delicate wife. And, the talent and the leisurely mood of drawing one’s chess board in the middle of the mountains told us that she was no ordinary person either.”

“We have all seen plenty of white spaces left for the viewers to fill in images for the scenery. One that was meant for a person, a person that was not in the picture, was the catch on this time.”

“Perhaps the Ink Painting Guru had immersed herself into the painting?”

“Ahahaha, so this was not a painting of a scenery after all. It was a self-portrait?”

Everybody continued to speculate happily.

All of them reached the inside of the car through Siyi’s phone.

Gu Shishi carefully glanced over at the man who was sitting properly next to her.

He had no said a word for a while now.

Did he not like it?

Or that he couldn’t really get the meaning behind it without seeing it in person?

What she wanted to convey was that raising a child wasn’t just a father’s responsibility alone.

Even if he was absent temporarily, she would pick up where he left off and wait for his return.

This is something that happens to hundreds of thousands or even more families every day.

The mother will step in when the father is not around.

When the mother has to step away, the father will hold down the fort.

Everybody has their own set of responsibilities but there is also no need to take on too much of them and feel that everything that goes wrong is their fault.

“Hmm…”

Gu Shishi wanted to explain herself but she also worried that it would backfire on her.

Many times, a person needs to figure it out on their own. It doesn’t matter how much someone else try to talk to them about it. In fact, they more the subject was broached, the more resentful they might find it.

When she turned her head, struggling within herself, she noticed, next to her, the back of the ears of the cold and handsome man turned a little red.

Gu Shishi blinked.

And she noticed that the discussions through the cellphone had gone up a whole other level.

“This husband is such a lucky man. He reminds me of when I was young.”

“Aiya, even a hero can’t resist a beauty. Why else would emperors stop attending to the country’s businesses over women? Look, here he was keeping his family company in the middle of the mountains.”

“Now my hand is itching. I would love to do a Return of the General painting for this white space.”

“What general! I say it’s a talented scholar! Look at this chess board. This is not a randomly drawn chessboard. This is a famous stalemate! So this must be a worldly and scholarly man we are talking about.”

“Ah, a strategist. Only a general would be so aggressive when it comes to a game of chess! No way a talented scholar would bring his wife and child to such a dangerous place. Look closer at the accessories on the wife. All of them were top of the line. No ordinary peasants would be able to afford them. This husband was for sure a someone of high status.”

Gu Shishi, sitting the car, was distracted and she found the discussions more and more amusing.
