The difference in class was strongly visible when she was on the ground. She could look up at Vixen who was well above her while keeping her eyes at ground level. She felt like had been put in check. Not by the one who had sent her but by the one she was sent after.
She shuddered as she watched his back get further and further away. Before she knew it, she was the only one left in the hallway and he was long gone. The halls lingering in cold m his cold stare earlier and she sat on the ground in the middle of it all, shivering intensely.
She had done her job though. She was able to interact with him.
Quietly she tried to stand up, using the walls as a good method of support.
She staggered, nearly knocking out and falling to the ground unconscious but held onto the wall and pushed down her urge to vomit. With trembling fingers, the pressed the elevator down button and then held on to the wall as she awaits her ride.
A few seconds later, the elevator doors open and she quickly shuffles into the elevator, falling to the ground as the doors closed behind her. She sat on the ground for a moment and then shuffled to the list of numbers on the elevator and pressed the bottom floor.
She didn't want to get off the ride just yet. She made a silent apology to those who needed to get onto the elevator and leaned against the walls when the elevator starts moving down.
'Did she know he would react like that?" The girl wondered, 'like he was going to blow up the way he did and give me such threatening eyes and such a scary aura?'
She thought about it for a moment and nodded her head. 'There was no way she didn't know. She was Mrs. Cloud after all. She knew about everything that went on with this building and made sure to concern herself with it. But… why did she concern me too with looking after her son?'
The girl let out a sigh as her nerves slowly calmed down. She looked up at the numbers and saw they were descending to the last floor. She waited until it got to the bottom floor and then for the elevator door to close before pressing the top floor of the building.
She really didn't want to get off yet. At least not until her mind had somehow figured out what was going on.
She let out a shaky breath and felt her heart slowly calm down and she shivers wouldn't leave. It was like she had spent 2 hours in Antarctica and then came to a place where it was intensely hot. Her skin hurt and her heart throbbed painfully.
The scary thing however was not the way they looked but rather the way they thought.
She could tell just from their eyes that their thought processes were nearly the same. Mrs. Cloud touched all business aspects while Vixen's touched his entire personality and the way he looked at others.
The way he had read straight through her purpose the moment he laid eyes on her. The way when she found out he was only being carried only with her joke for entertainment, even when knowing she was faking it. She had looked into both of her eyes and even though Mrs. Cloud's eyes were literally those of a devil looking down at a mere human, Vixen seemed to be just a rank below her with eyes that seemed to understand immediately but yet not give a single care to the situation at hand.
He read that she was sent after him in the first seconds of meeting her, and he also read her task to stalk him to keep an eye on him but luckily he didn't read her last motive. To watch his reaction.
It seemed like Mrs. Cloud already knew the way he was going to react, she was just simply waiting for a perfect pawn, like her, to test her hypothesis. In that way she was scary. The way she would casually make use of anyone and anything near her if it has a benefit to her. Just like she had made use of the girl.
The girl slowly stood up as her body stopped shivering a bit more. She looked up at the numbers to see it heading to the top floor. That wasn't where she needed to be but for now, she was going to enjoy the ride.
'He didn't know right?' the girl thought to himself. 'If he knew I was sent to watch his behavior then would he have reacted the same way? I'm sure he would have been more discrete with the hate in his eyes as he would hate to get on her bad side once again.
She jumped a bit when the elevator let out a ding for the top floor and immediately pressed the down button on the first floor exit.
'How would he have reacted if he knew? Mile brightly and shake my hands then let me pretend I was a young server that got lost on her rounds? Or would he treat me to a meal to calm my nerves?' she thought to herself. There were so many possibilities, and in each possibility he was nice, giving her a bright warm smile.
The girl was right in everything except for the fact that she thought he hadn't noticed. He had noticed immediately too. She would and could never know that though because that's how far her thoughts could go. She couldn't think deeper about someone she could barely look in the eyes of. It was how far she could go, but it was ages short of how far Vixen could go.
What she didn't know was that he knew her. And the fact that she was a worker in the same building as he was, this one, before getting transferred to one of the other buildings in the asylum. He knew just from looking at her that one of the reasons for her transfer was Mrs. Cloud.
It was a bit pathetic to him as he looked into her eyes. Changing one's entire life just to fit those of the ones above them.
It would never be him.
The girl sat back down on the ground to preserve her energy and stood up when she heard the ding of the elevator. She was about to step out when the doors opened to reveal figures looming over her.
She stepped back, her heart dropping to the floor when the perfume filled her sense of smell. Violet eyes peered down at her, shrinking her immediately.
"Took you awhile to get down to this floor in a-" Mrs. Cloud's eyes ran up and down the girl. "More presentable manner…"
The girl shuddered, her heart beat immediately racing as she felt the violet eyes squarely on her. It was terrifying, the situation with the looming figures was terrifying. Mr. Cloud… was petrifying.
The girl's eyes shook and rolled back to the back of her ears once before hazily focusing.
Mrs. Cloud let out a sigh and nodded towards the girl. Figures from behind Mrs. Cloud walked towards her immediately and supported her. Their hold was harsh. Not because of how muscular they were or because they couldn't control the power they used on her but simply to torture her. Pain was a good way to keep someone awake.
The girl was bolted awake by the harsh grabbing of the body guards as they lifted her off the ground and walked after Mrs. Cloud who had already started walking away moments ago.
The girl tried to hide her face as they carried her by holding her by her armpits. It could only so much as her face was still able to be discovered. It was highly visible. It was her punishment, she knew it. The punishment for not immediately reporting to Mrs. Cloud immediately after she spied on Vixen.
"Mind to tell me what he was like?" Mrs. Cloud smiled, turning to the girl. Her smile touched the heart of the girl.
'How could someone smile so brightly after emptying the soul of someone with their words?' the girl thought to herself as she looked at Mrs. Cloud. "Such a beautiful smile."
The smile was fake.
"But before I answer ma'am, could you please answer as to how exactly were you able to assign me this task since yesterday and have it completely pan out the exact way that you wanted it to?" The girl asked.
Mrs. Cloud froze, her smile wavering a bit. "How did I know?"
