46 - Episode 44 Wild intuition?

Hmm, morning? I wake up on a bed of sand and feel a slight weight on my chest. It was. I slept with Tamamo last night because she was stuck to me and wouldn't leave me.

After saying goodbye to everyone, I went to check out the fields with an excited Tamamo. I was happy to see that the second of four kinds of seeds was about to be harvested. I am looking forward to harvesting tomorrow.

Tamamo has been taking good care of the forest area, and some of the seedlings have sprouted. Now that the contract with Shilfi has been successfully concluded, we can eat the vegetables in town, but that's just the way it is and this is just the way it is... The vegetables that Tamamo worked so hard to grow had to taste good.

Well, Dineh watered the base every day in response to my blandishments, and Dolly and Nomos were helping out in the shadows, but I am sure that Tamamo was the main one who worked hard. We gave him all the praise we could muster.

Tamamo was so excited to see us for the first time in a long time and to hear the words of praise from all of us. In the end, Bell. Rain. Tulu. Tumamo were all tangled up together like a dumpling.

Hmm? Tamamo started to move, as if it noticed I was awake. It was dark, but I have night vision, so I could see Tamamo clearly. I like the way she rubs her eyes.

I guess I'm fully awake, so I leave the bedroom with Tamamo in my arms, who has been snuggling with me as a greeting.

"Hey. Good morning, everyone."

"Good morning."

"Cue."

Good morning."

Breakfast is served with Belle and the others already gathered in the kitchen, and the day at Izumi's house begins for the first time in a long time. Belle, perhaps inspired by Tamamo's pampering after such a long time, clung to my head. Well, it's not too heavy, so no problem, let's go outside. We meet up with the Great Spirits in front of the fountain. We greet them and head for the fields.

Rain. "Rain, water the fields, will you?

Cue.

The food in the field is growing lushly and beautifully, so Rain usually launches a water ball to sprinkle water like rain. Rain. If we cultivate the land of the dead, will it eventually rain? Well, I don't think I can do something that grand.

"Good job, Rain. Are you okay with the forest next?"

"Cue cue."

Rain is confidently raising his right flipper like he's in good hands. It is a little strange that Belle, who is usually on top of Rain, is not here. Well, she's clinging to my head.

"Oh. He's really motivated. Come on, Lane. Tamamo's next. Good luck."

"Coo-ooh!"

Tamamo's motivation jumps out of my arms and she performs magic in front of the crops. I feel the lush foliage grow a little longer. I hold Tamamo back in my arms, smooching him and asking Dory a question.

Dory. I can eat those vegetables tomorrow, right?"

"Yes. Tomorrow morning is a good time to harvest. Forrestradish is delicious, so please look forward to it.

...... I thought the leaves looked like a radish, but is forest radish a Great Forest radish? Were there any English-speaking transplants?

Well, radishes are a tasty vegetable whose leaves can also be eaten. It would be great to make pickles with the leaves. And grilled fish with grated daikon would be great. It's exciting, isn't it?

"Harvest in the morning. I'm looking forward to it."

Excited to move to the planned forest site.

"I saw it yesterday, but it's still amazing to see this scene. There are some buds growing, and I can really feel that this is going to be a forest.

"Hmm. Yes, that's right. As the Great Spirit of the Forest, I am very happy to be involved in the project to create a forest in the land of the dead.

Actually, there was no plan to build a forest at all. We built it because Nomos told us to build it, and it was completely thanks to Nomos.

"If we build a forest here, will the climate in the Land of the Dead change a little?"

"I don't think it's possible to do it here alone. It would be wonderful to have a spring and a forest, but it is a very small space in the land of the dead.

"It doesn't work that way, does it?"

Indeed, the land of death is so large that it would take a hundred days on foot to reach a town. The climate would be the same even if plants grew up in small patches.

"But... But it will give us a chance to increase nature. If we can increase the number of plants using this place as a base, the forest may one day cover the land of the dead.

You are a spirit, you have a long time to think. I wonder how far they will go in my lifetime. If the forest grows big enough, other countries may invade, so it will be difficult.

"If that happens, this place will be very precious. Speaking of which, do the trees that grow here bear fruits?

Some trees do bear fruit. But they need to be pollinated, so they need pollinators (animals that carry pollen).

"In this world, too, is it mostly nectar-collecting insects that carry pollen?"

"Yes, that's true. It is up to Yuta to decide whether the land will bear fruit.

I guess they want me to bring the bugs. Are there bees or something? I hate to think that if there were any, they would be big, stupid demons.

We'll do our best to be as positive as possible.

Yes, Yuta-san will be fine. I'm looking forward to it.

......It seems that in this world, the iridescent solutions of politicians don't work. It is completely understood as a positive word. A promise to a beautiful girl. If you don't do your best, you will be punished.

While observing Rain's watering and Tamamo's growing magic, I try to imagine this place turned into a forest. ...... can't imagine. Even though I can feel the forest, the impression of the reddish brown earth is too strong for me to imagine.

"Yuta. Can you make a forest?

"I'll try my best to make a forest, but we'll see, won't we? Would Belle be happy to have a forest?"

"Yes. It's fun to fly through the forest.

"I see. Then let's do our best to build a forest.

"I'll build it!"

Belle frolicking on her head. As a contractor, I'm sure he's doing his best. Dolly's expectations and Bell's. If you have the power to do it, let's do it. She is secretly determined to do her best.

"Yuta! I've been thinking about it and I'd like to change the terms of the contract.

As I was getting into the swing of things, I heard a voice knocking me off my feet. What are you talking about all of a sudden?

"Well, Deane is the one who chooses whether to sign the contract, so it's up to Deane, but what's going on all of a sudden?"

"Yeah. As a big sister, I think that Sylphy should be the second one to sign the contract, even if she can't help it."

"...... nomos. Does it matter what order the contracts are in?"

Maybe there is some sort of ranking system, like the first to sign a contract is the best.

There is no such thing.

A categorical denial of nomos.

"Then why is Dine so obsessed with the order of contracts?"

"I don't give a shit! There is no answer to his mysterious theory. He's a man of mysterious preoccupations and moods. It's useless to take him seriously.

Deane...... looks perfect on the outside. I don't know why she's like that. It makes me sad.

"Ah. I kind of get what you're saying. You're going to change the terms of the contract to the next one after Sylphy's. What kind of terms?"

"I'll think about it now. So, Yuta. So, Yuta, you'll have to wait a little bit.

"...... Okay, but... If you don't set the terms before you go to town, we may not be able to accommodate you."

"Of course. I'm going to the fountain to think about it. I'll see you later.

Oh, yeah. I'll see you later."

I'm completely out of it. I can't read Deanne's personality.

"Hey, Sylphy. Hey, Sylphy. Nomos. Hey, Sylphy. What do you think of Deanne as a spirit? I feel like there's something special about it."

"Well, I think he has a special character. But there are many kinds of spirits. It's not that there's something wrong with Deanne, you know?"

Sylphy replies unsurely. They seem to get along well with each other, but they seem to have given up on Dine in many ways. I guess it can't be helped.

"I think she is a special kind of humanoid spirit. If anything, their behavioral principles are similar to those of animal spirits. Well, it is useless to predict their behavior. They act on instinct.

Nomos cut him off. But Nomos is right. He's the kind of guy who has wild instincts. There are people who don't understand the meaning of the word, like going to the right to avoid a cliff slide on the left, when the left is the shortcut. It's not logic.

"Deanne is a good girl. She's a good girl. She just thinks a little differently than everyone else. She's a good girl, she just doesn't think like everyone else, but she's a very useful girl, and her opinions are good for everyone.

It's a compliment, but I don't think it's very complimentary. Summing up everyone's opinions, I can think of a type of person who acts in a way that I don't understand, but somehow produces results. ......The words "there is a fine line between stupidity and genius" come to mind.

While I was talking with the Great Spirits, Rain and Tamamo returned after finishing their work. I think we've done all the work we need to do for today.

"Yuta. What are you going to do now?"

"Ummm. I'll ask Sylphy to take the night off so we can work out the details of our plan to go to town, and while we have some daylight, I'll expand the base to fulfill Nomos' requirements."

"Okay. Then I'll organize the information on the different places. We'll discuss it after dinner.

"Yes. Yes. I'll probably be an adventurer, so it would be helpful if you could pick out towns that are suitable for adventurers and where war is less likely to break out.

"I'll see what I can find. Yuta, good luck with the expansion of your base.

We parted ways with the Great Spirits, and I took Belle, Rain, Tulu, and Tamamo with me to start the base expansion work. In this case, Tulu's cooperation is very helpful, but this is not a job for the other children.

Tulu and I divide the space to be expanded with rocks, digging holes and paving them with rocks. We have to make some progress or we won't be able to finish.

After all, we need a total of 250,000 square meters of space to accomplish what Nomos wants. The Unare Pioneering Tool. With you, we'll never hit our goal.
