"I'm so pleased to finally meet you, Diana." Lucio says happily as he taps my head with his shaking hand like I'm an obedient child.
That night of my first arrival, Lucio wasn't able to come out of his room because the nurse said he's been unwell after a series of nights skipping a restful sleep. When I asked her of the reason, she told me in an accusing tone that I was the reason Mr. Damari loses sleep all because he was so excited to meet me.
Although her manner of speaking has me a little taken aback, I don't respond anymore. After all, she's his nurse so it's just understandable that she gets upset when it comes to Mr. Damari's condition. I can't blame her if she sees me as a host to where she vents out her frustration.
When the nurse announced that Lucio will be joining me during breakfast, I've been feeling uncomfortably nervous and afraid. Will he expect us to suddenly kiss on the mouth? I'm even surprised that we didn't share the bed last night. Well, I'm not saying that I wasn't relieved. I'm just too anxious the longer I wait for the bomb to go off.
"I'm also glad to have finally met you, Lucio." I answer before giving him a light kiss on his cheek.
Lucio looks surprised as he beams up at me. "You should take Desmond with you and see the town. He's your driver from now on. Don't imprison yourself in this old house and enjoy your day."
"I might take that offer up. Thanks." I answer with a smile as I watch him being led by nurse Amy into another double paneled bedroom door behind the curved staircase.
The silly expectations I've built in my head have been all but false imaginings. Lucio is indeed excited and happy for my arrival at Damari villa but he doesn't give off an eerie or perverted vibe. Instead, hes like a father as we chatted during breakfast. He's all smiles and curiosity as he asked me about my life and my recent cruise ship experience.
I don't expect to feel regret bidding goodbye to him when his nurse interrupts our conversation for his morning nap. I've actually enjoyed my time with the old man. Wow. This house is full of surprises. Lucio told me to treat it like my own now that I'm going to live here.
Well, even without being told, I've actually treated it a home because of the warmth I received at my arrival. I didn't even have any problems falling asleep last night. The villa is located at the hilltop. One side views the vast ocean and the other side are large, old trees with fresh air from the mountain side. The peaceful scenery indeed can help any patient like Lucio to get a better health.
Taking a quick visit in my room, I grab my purse and climb down the house once again. When I step outside the door, I spot Desmond playing with a huge, hairy dog around the wide lawn. I can certainly guess its a Tibetan mastiff breed. He waves at me after he sees me coming out of the house.
"Hello, Desmond, have you eaten breakfast already?"
"Of course, Miss Diana. I usually wake up at five and do my workout before breakfast at six. Before you arrived, I will drive Mr. Damari around."
"Really? You must've been idle for so long now that Lucio doesn't work anymore. Aren't you bored?"
Desmond frowns a little before he smiles at me in amusement. "Not at all, especially now that you're here, Miss Diana. Do you wish to see the town?"
"If it's not so bothersome to you." I say coyly.
"Of course not. I'll just return Brown back to his play pen then we can go. Please wait for me here."
"Alright."
A few beats later, a white sports car suddenly pulls up in front of me, so dazzling and eye catching, I don't like going in it at all. Desmond climbs out of the driver's seat and opens the back passenger door.
"Uh..." I look at Desmond hesitantly, smiling and grimacing at the same time. "This is too much. Can we drive with a normal car?"
Desmond chuckles as he scratches his head. "But Miss Diana, I'm only allowed to drive this car. Don't you like it?"
"Well, I like it way too much that's why I don't like to ride with it. I might scratch it and I don't have money to pay for the repair."
"That's silly." Desmond laughs heartily. "Besides, you'll soon become Mrs. Damari so this will be yours in the near future. You'll going to have to get used to it, Miss Diana."
"Ah, yeah right." I wince. "I haven't discussed to Lucio if we're going to sign a prenup anyway so there's nothing to get used to anything."
Desmond frowns at my words before something flashes in his eyes that brings a sudden sweet smile on his lips. "Miss Diana, where do you wish to go today?"
