In the middle of the board meeting, my phone suddenly buzzes on the table where I plugged it directly to the projector. The caller's name flashes at the screen overhead, surprising the entire people present in the room.
-My Wife's Home calling-
"Sorry, I'll take this call. Please, excuse me."
With a frown, I quickly pull the plug off the socket and bring my phone with me into my office before answering the call. What happens to my wife? Why is someone from the residence calling for me? Where's Albert?
"Hello?"
"H-hello, is this Mr. Damari? This is Brenda."
"Yes. Speak, Brenda. Is everything ok?"
"Mr. Damari, Miss Diana has been ill for two days but she refuses to see a doctor. When I keep reminding her about it, she suddenly stops coming out of her room. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm worried about her. She has all the keys in the house. We tried breaking into her room, but it just won't budge. She's also threatened us to hurt herself if we keep forcing her to come out."
"I'll be on my way. Thanks for calling me."
I return to the meeting room and announce to everyone that I'll be leaving for an emergency. I instruct Jessie to reschedule the meeting for next time and have all the calls divert to the VP for the time being. Afterwards, I hurry down the building and order Desmond to drive fast into Coleman residence.
When we finally arrive, the Coleman residence is in a little chaos outside. People from the vineyard who's been close to Diana has come over to coax the girl to come out. The servants are already in tears in hopelessness. Albert is mingling around like a random concerned neighbor.
"Why didn't you tell me immediately?" I frown at Albert while speaking in a lowered voice.
"I also just found out, Mr. Damari. The people inside didn't make a fuss about it yesterday. But when Miss Diana refuses coming out the entire day without eating, it's only then I'm notified and you've already been informed by Brenda, too."
"What's the status of the situation?"
"She's still won't come out. The doctor is already on standby."
"I'll go." I step into the Colemans gate and inform Brenda to let the people leave the house.
The elder woman immediately complies and sends the people away so as not to agitate Diana even more. Only the two remaining servants under my payroll and the doctor remain afterwards and the house finally meets silence.
Taking a calming breath, I climb up into Diana's room and knock twice. There's no response but a faint moan resonates from inside. I hesitate for a moment before deciding to just do it. Taking a thin metal strip from my watch, I pick the lock of the door before it gives out an audible click.
Diana is lying on her bed under the covers as I step into the room, shutting the door close behind me. She's moaning as if crying and at the same time in pain. I quickly approach the bed and check on her. She's trembling. When I touch her forehead, I feel like I just touch a pot of boiling water.
My poor wife is having a fever! I quickly step out of the room and summon the doctor inside to give my princess a quick first aid. The doctor administers the checkup and arranges an IV drip on her since she's also dehydrated for skipping meals and drinking water.
While the doctor is on it, I step aside and pull my phone out. "Hello, dad."
"Graysen, what happen to Diana? Is she ok?"
"She's probably upset after the lawyer's visit that's why she's in a hunger strike. She'll soon be fine after she finishes her prescribed drip and few medications."
My father sighs heavily at the other side. "What do you plan to do about this, Graysen?"
