Chapter 13 - Office Office (1)

Mandy ran to her room and flung herself onto her bed, crying just like some distressed princess in the movies.

Lucille slowly entered and sat next to her weeping daughter.

"Will you stop crying! All that will do is just puff up your eyes. Is that what you want?" Lucille said in a teasing tone, trying to brighten her mood.

"Mom, How could daddy treat me like this?" She looked up at her mother.

"He even called that bitch, Lina as the heiress of the Yang clan! He was clearly supporting her. I am his daughter, not her!" She yelled.

Even Lucille was shocked by this information, so how was she going to calm Mandy down now?

"Who is this Lina, mom? How come I've never heard of her before? I've never heard anyone from my social circle mention about her." Mandy thought out loud.

How could Mandy's group of spoilt brats know anything of the previous generations matters?

But Lucille was someone who knew about this open secret.

After all she had served in the Yang group as Patrick's secretary before she had to flee to hide her pregnancy.

"She is your dad's elder brother, Simon Yang's daughter and your cousin. You need to try to get on her good books, if you want to enter Yang Group." Lucille said while thinking of how to deal with Lina.

"Why must I be nice to her? And how come no one knows about this elder brother?" Mandy asked.

"Simon Yang was the President before your father. The only reason Patrick could become President was because Simon decided to move to a different country with his wife and children. As to why he made such a decision, no one knows."

Lucille explained all the details that she knew about the elder son of the Yang clan.

"So you think Lina might be back now to take back the position that was her father's?"

Mandy just jumped to conclusions as that was what she feared the most.

Losing her newly found prestige and the title of 'Heiress' would be detrimental to her plans of living a rich and lavish life.

"If she wants to take the President's seat, she needs to ask for my permission first." Mandy declared.

'I have to try harder to get into the Yang group now that Lina has come back. I can't let her make a place for herself in the office.'

Chewing on her nails, Mandy tried to find ways to pressure her father into letting her join his office.

'What should I do now? Will Lina's stay in the Yang manor disturb my plans?' Lucille was lost in her own thoughts, not bothering about what Mandy planned to do.

Both the mother-daughter pair spent a sleepless night planning their next moves.

Next morning, Lina woke up at 11 AM and after finishing getting dressed, she walked to the kitchen.

Not bothering about the servants gawking at her, she prepared her banana smoothie and put it in a bottle to go.

She had promised to meet Wade Luo at 12 PM but decided to surprise his by reaching early.

She met Butler Ping in the Hall, who handed over a set of keys to her.

"Master asked me to give you the keys to your new car, young miss. Please be safe on the road and call me if you need anything." He said.

"Wow, Butler Ping are you psychic? How could you know that I planned on going out ?" She asked with a surprised look on her face.

"If Miss had no plans of going out, then you would be on the couch watching your Tv shows in your pajamas." Butler Ping replied with a straight face.

'Ouch! Did he just call me a lazy potato couch indirectly?'

Rubbing her nose sheepishly, Lina said bye and went out the door.

Walking to the garage, she pressed the button on the keys that were in her hands and looked around to find her car among the others.

'Uncle Pat seriously needs to calm it with the need to buy every car that meets his eyes.'

Rolling her eyes, she walked to the car that just made the sound.

She stood in front of a black sleek and stylish sedan.

'Doesn't catch attention. I wouldn't have noticed it if not for the headlights flashing just now.'

She went round the car, observing it.

Taking her seat in the car, she wriggled her butt and tried to look at all its features.

'Looks like he got the interiors modified and this seat is so soft and comfortable!'

'Me likey!'

Satisfied with her uncle's choice, Lina started the car after putting on the seatbelt and drove out of the garage.

Just after she drove out the gate, Mandy entered with her pink Lamborghini. Turning back to see Lina leaving in a low brand car, she smirked.

'Looks like dad still loves me best. That car is proof that dad does not want to spend money on her. Unlike my super expensive car.'

Satisfied with what she saw, she parked the car. Then picking up her shopping bags, she walked into the house, humming a song.

What would her reaction be if only she knew that Lina's car was worth far more than Mandy's.

It even cost extra for all the modifications that Patrick had insisted on for his kiddo's first car back home.

He knew that she hated gaining attention driving those flashy cars and hence had one customized just for her.

The only one in the world.

Would Mandy faint, if she ever got to know about this? Who knows?

---------------

Driving at a safe pace, Lina reached Wade Luo's office at 11:30.

Well it would have taken just fifteen minutes to reach his office, but for Lina who had a serious case of tachophobia, it took thirty.

Getting down from the car, she looked up to see the name of the building written in a beautiful font.

*OBSIDIA DESIGNS*

'Still looks as pretty as always.' Complimenting the building, she entered and made her way to the reception.

As she walked, she glanced down to look at her clothes.

Black jeans with an indigo T-shirt neatly tucked into her pants and she had matched her Tee with her indigo high top sneakers which added to her already tall figure.

'I look like a college going kid. Will the receptionist let me enter?'

'Or will this be like the 'look at what you are wearing? Are you even fit to enter our office' scene? And then I have to make a phone call to let Wade come down and pick me up, shocking the receptionist who is then fired.' Lina was lost in her daydream.

Standing in the middle of the lobby looking at her shoes, she attracted the passersby's attention but was unaware of it.

She soon felt a shadow loom over her and turned back to see who it was.

"Pretty Noona, are you lost?" Said the guy with an impish smile.
