Chapter 52 - Bring Your Sister To Work Day

The next morning Lina woke up when she heard a knock on the door. She asked them to come in, usually it would be Suzie who had come to wake her up. But today, Wade walked in with her clothes for the day.

"Suzie? When did you get a sex change operation? You look good!" She said jokingly.

"Haha, so funny! Suzie's gone to get our breakfast." He rolled his eyes at her and pushed the clothes into her hands.

It was her mother's gray plaid pencil skirt and she had decided to match it with her black round wide necked loose top. She wanted to try out some business casuals rather than the stiff suits that everyone wore.

"How long are you going to keep wearing your mother's old clothes? Go buy some new ones." He advised and sat on the couch, still in his pjs.

"I'll do that this weekend, but they look great on me and I don't mind wearing them anyway." Lina shrugged and went to brush her teeth.

By the time she was done, Suzie had brought their breakfast in her room and Wade was drinking his freshly squeezed orange juice.

"Wanna accompany me for some shopping on Saturday?" She asked while munching on her toast.

Wade shook his head and swallowed the toast he was chewing.

"Can't. I'm going out of the city to meet the owner of the mall that I told you about." He said and continued eating.

Lina recalled the time that he had told her about going to a meeting with a new company.

"Oh. But why on a weekend?" She was confused and amazed that Wade had even agreed to meet the other person on a weekend, forgoing his rest days.

"That's because the guy will leave the country in a few days and I don't know when he will be back. Plus we will get busy with the auction and I want to get this done before he leaves." He explained why he had agreed to meet the other party.

Nodding in understanding, she walked to her closet to pick out her shoes and purse for the day.

Wade left after his breakfast and they agreed on meeting in the Main Hall in 30 minutes.

Lina got dressed in fifteen minutes and sat in front of her mirror, trying to decide how she wanted to style her hair today.

She twisted the top section of her hair and then collecting her hair to one side, she tied it in a loose side braid.

Easy and effortless yet chic and gorgeous, that was how she would describe her hairstyle.

Applying a little BB cream, she completed her look with her favorite gel sunscreen.

'Sunscreen in a blessing!' She then picked up her maroon lip tint and applied a generous amount in a dabbing motion.

Smacking her lips, she applied a clear lip balm over her dark lip tint.

'No fuss lip color that lasts the entire day and won't dry out my lips.' Placing the two products in her black and silver Sergei limited edition purse, she put on her gray pumps and walked out of her room.

-----

She saw Lucille and Mandy sitting quietly in the hall. They had gotten up early today to see where Lina went everyday.

Lina saw that Wade munching on something sitting opposite them and she bounced towards him.

"Whatcha eating?" She said as she sat next to him and ignored the other two in the room.

Not wanting to start her day with a repeat of what had happened last night, she planned on ignoring their existence for the time being.

"There were these dried strawberry slices here. So I decided to try them." He showed her the cute little ziploc bag that had the slices in it.

She picked up the bag and looked at Butler Ping, who shook his head indicating that he did not put it there.

"Wade, it's from the ghost that I told you about!" She whispered in his ear and hid the ziploc bag in her purse.

"Hey!! What did Aunt teach you about sharing?" He glared at Lina and saw her stubborn, unyielding face.

"She told me to properly guard what is mine!" She smirked and stuck her tongue out.

Mandy had learnt her lesson yesterday and so she did not try to interfere when these two cousins of hers were playing around like little children.

Lina and Wade got up to leave because they had exactly 45 minutes to reach their office.

"Big brother? Where are you going?" She could not stop her curiosity when she saw them getting up to leave.

Her eyes alternated between Wade and Lina. Especially that purse that she was holding.

'That's Sergei's limited edition Blackheart bag! There were only 20 such bags that were sold worldwide!' Mandy stared at Lina's purse heatedly.

She remembered that her best friend Jeanette had cried and threw a tantrum when her father couldn't get her one.

To fit in with Jeanette Liang's social group, Mandy had learned about all the things that fascinated the socialites and hence she knew that Lina's bag was very expensive and sought after.

There were only two women in the country who owned Sergei's Blackheart purse, one was the President's wife and the other was a madam from a rich noble family. But now Lina would be the third.

Feeling the gaze fall on her purse, Lina just held it right in front of her.

'Wow, Sergei sure has fans here.' She was happy that the brand was popular in the East as well.

"We are off to work." Wade answered vaguely and turned to walk out.

Just as he took two steps, he was interrupted.

"So where is she going?" Learning her lesson last night, Mandy just pointed with her chin while holding her hands behind her back.

"I'm going along with him, of course." Lina spoke up and waited to see her reaction.

"What? Is it 'Bring your sister to work day' today?" Lucille looked at them in derision.

Mandy chuckled and then thought of something.

'What if I can find clues about THAT guy in Wade's office?' She looked at Wade and smiled widely.

"Big brother, take me along. I'm your sister too." She said in a sickeningly sweet voice.

'NO! YOU ARE NOT!' Lina, Wade and Butler Ping had the same thought in their minds. But since they couldn't just tell her that, Wade thought of answering them truthfully.

'Lina only wanted to hide that she's the President. It will be okay if I reveal her identity as an employee.' He thought and turned to Lina to see if she objected.

As if reading what was in his mind, she just gave a nonchalant nod and walked out of the house.

'Let Wade handle them. I'll be in the car.' She waved to Derek when she was outside.

"We are not going to play around, Mandy. We are going to work and you are delaying us right now." He looked at the time on his watch.

If they do not leave immediately, they will surely be late for work.

"Working? What is she working?" Mandy asked dumbly. But Lucille asked the question that was in her mind.

'I know that his elder brother works at Luo group. But I have no idea where Wade works?' Lucille's attention was finally on the man standing in front of them.

"And where would the two of you be working?" She asked as she noticed his work attire.

'That looks like a custom made suit. The watch he just showed is easily worth a few millions and the cufflinks are diamonds.' She evaluated him.

"Oh that? We work at Obsidia. I'm the Vice President and Lina is our new Marketing Consultant." He revealed and saw how their faces froze with this new information.

Butler Ping was trying to stop his smile when he saw their rigid and funny faces.

"What did you just say?" Mandy was still recovering from the shock that she received.

'That's the most popular jewelry and fashion brand right now that launched a few years ago and shot to fame very quickly. Jeanette loves their stuff.' Mandy processed the information in her mind.

"You are the Vice President at Obsidia?" Lucille ignored Lina's information and focussed on Wade. Since he answered so confidently, she knew that he wasn't lying about it.

Since the establishment of Obsidia's branch in the country, the President and Vice President of the company never appeared before the public. Every launch and press meet was done by the VP's Assistant and the PR team.

There were many rumors about why the two important figures never stepped into the spotlight. Most of the rumors were that the two men were foreigners and only came for important meetings and left immediately after.

Therefore no one would have guessed that the Vice President of Obsidia Designs was none other than the second son of the Luo family.

'The news about the second son of the Luo's is very limited and I heard that he was a good for nothing wastrel. But apparently he has hidden his identity quite well.' Lucille was thinking of ways on how she could use this information to her advantage.

Wade had already guessed that Lucille was plotting something against them and so he looked at the mother-daughter duo with cold eyes.

"This is privileged information. I hope you keep it to yourself." He saw Mandy readily nod and Lucille just stared back at him.

'I don't care even if they reveal this to the media. I just don't want Lina's personal life to be affected by this.' He gave a side glance to Butler Ping and saw him nod seriously.

Butler Ping understood what Wade meant, he would keep an eye on their actions, to see who they would come in contact with for the next few days.

Soon Wade left the hall and Butler Ping went back to his room. The two people left there were deep in their thoughts.

'Lina must have gotten the job through Wade, what if he can get me in too?' Mandy started daydreaming.

'I'll ask him to make me a manager in some important department and once I start working there, I'll kick Lina out of the company!' She planned on how to make Lina regret breaking her nail.

'Wade looks like a manchild but he seems to hold a big position in Obsidia. If this news breaks out then his status in society would improve tremendously. I can't simply ignore him anymore, better to be guarded against him from now.' Lucille bit her nails and frowned, something that she did when she was in tense situations.
