Chapter 66 - Reuben's Good Deed

After Lina left Reuben there, he stood still staring in the direction that she had left in.

A little while later he walked forward and entered a door after exiting the dim passage.

The room was dark and only the light from outside the door illuminated that place.

"Take good care of them and I do not want to see them in this place ever again." He spoke to the big built man who stood beside the door with his head bowed respectfully.

"Yes, boss!" The man saluted him and walked to the three men passed out on the floor.

Not wanting to look at such trash, Reuben harrumphed and strode out of the room.

As he walked up the stairs to the room that he and Wayne were talking in, he thought back to his encounter with the insolent girl.

-------

When he was talking about the meeting with the President of Obsidia with Wayne, Reuben stood by the window and looked down to see how the place was.

They were right now inside his private lounge in 'Tremor', one of his side businesses.

He had come here today to have a drink with his friend and also to find a solution to his problem.

He saw many youngsters drinking at the bar, sitting in the booths, and many on the dance floor.

As his eyes skimmed over the dance floor, he found a familiar figure.

'Isn't that the woman who called me a creep?' Reuben gritted his teeth and watched the woman dancing alone.

She danced without a care in the world and looked like she was truly enjoying herself, unlike the other ladies who were dancing to prove that they were better than their friends.

She wore a short violet dress and had her back facing Reuben's direction.

'That's a beautiful tattoo. Wolves huh? An odd choice for such a young girl.' He was fascinated by looking at it.

Soon he saw a strange man slowly moving behind her and snaking his hands over her hips and he pulled her close.

'I'm sure she'll push him away. After all, she hates creeps.' He guessed but was proved wrong.

'Every time I see her she is with a new guy. This time it's a pervert who does not know anything about personal space.' He shook his head disapprovingly when she did not reject him and saw how they were dancing too close to each other.

'Good work, lady!' He cheered when he saw another woman separate the pervert and insolent girl.

Though he was concentrating on the scenes unfolding before his eyes, he still paid attention to what his friend was speaking.

He heard his friend laugh awkwardly then explained how he could not arrange for a meeting with Obsidia's president.

'How can he already know that she is unavailable when I just asked him about it?' Reuben turned away from the window and questioned Wayne.

When he looked back he did not find the girls on the dance floor but in one of the booths, hugging each other.

'Did I see that right? That woman just sniffed insolent girl's hair! Even her friends are perverts.' He shook his head in dismay.

"Don't tell me you've slept with her?" Reuben turned back to Wayne and shot him a disapproving glance and turned back to the window.

His eyes searched her and found her dancing again but this time he saw how she felt awkward and uncomfortable with the two men who were following her around.

'Don't those guys understand what body language is? I'm so far away and even I can see that she does not want to dance with them.' He was pissed that such behavior was happening in his club.

He heard Wayne choke on his beer and yell something, but he was too immersed in seeing what she would do next to even bother with what Wayne had just said.

He saw her resolutely walk away from them.

'Good thinking! Move away from those creeps! They are the real creeps, not me!' He cheered her on while defending himself from her previous accusations.

She did not return to her friends but walked in a different direction.

'Be careful!' Reuben stretched his hand when he saw her tripping but a waiter quickly held onto her.

'What was I going to do? Stretch my hand through the window?' He mocked his foolish behavior.

She sweetly smiled at the waiter and entered the passage to the restrooms.

He smiled looking at her clumsy behavior but very soon his smile disappeared.

The two men who were bothering her earlier were now slowly walking in the same direction that she went.

'Dammit!' He clenched his fists and quickly turned around.

"I'll be back in just a second!" His body was on auto-pilot as he left his friend inside the room and rushed out.

He ran down the stairs and towards the restrooms.

'Why am I even bothered about her?' He questioned himself and stopped a few steps away from the men's restroom.

He was deliberating whether to move forward or not when he heard something from the men's room.

"Are you sure that she will be okay?" Reuben heard a voice and stood outside eavesdropping.

'Who are they talking about?' He forgot about why he was here and continued listening.

"A little chloroform never killed anybody." Someone snickered after speaking.

"Did you see her body? And that tattoo? I wanted to take a bite out of her back right then!" Reuben heard a lecherous and lustful voice.

'Tattoo on the back? Isn't that insolent girl?' His eyes glinted when he heard this and he sent out a text from his digital watch.

"Boss will be happy with our catch today. Your work here is done. Leave before we change our minds." The same person warned in a harsh tone.

Having heard enough, Reuben burst into the men's room. He immediately recognized the three people who were talking inside.

If Lina was here, she would be shocked to see her blue-eyed beauty standing beside the two creeps who had made her feel uneasy.

"What the hell man! Can't you walk in properly?" The blue-eyed man spoke while patting his racing heart.

"How much have you heard?" Reuben heard the man with the rough voice asking him with a vicious look in his eyes.

"Leave before we beat your ass!" Another man threatened and Reuben let out a low laugh and looked at them condescendingly.

'These idiots think it's easy to beat Reuben Ming?' He just lifted his hand and motioned them to bring it on.

The three men were now pissed and rushed towards him.

'I don't want their dirty hands on me. Who knows whether they washed them after using the toilets?' Reuben grimaced at this thought and swiftly evaded their attacks.

"Stop dodging and come fight us, you sissy!" The blue-eyed man yelled as he panted.

But before Reuben could speak, the door was pushed open once again and two big strong men quickly walked in and bowed to him.

"Take them to the darkroom and wait for my orders." He ordered and the three men were quickly subdued and dragged away from the restroom.

----

'Now that this is taken care of. Should I wait for her or just leave?' Reuben looked at the ladies' room and stood underneath the lamp.

'I need to take credit for the good deed that I have done! This way she won't call me a creep.' Having decided his course of action, he leaned against the wall and waited for her.

His wait was soon rewarded when he heard the sound of heels on the marbled floor and looked up.

There she stood in front of him, all pretty and innocent.

'She cut her hair and colored them too.' He observed the changes in her.

Her face had a light layer of makeup and his eyes met with hers.

'She has the most beautiful eyes!' Reuben stared into the hazel eyes that looked at him as if she was searching for something.

"What are you thinking about?"

The words left his mouth before he could even think when he saw her lost in her thoughts.

'She has the same dazed look just like the last time we met. My looks can do that to people.' He smirked and boasted about his good looking face.

But when he heard that she was trying to remember where she had seen him, Reuben's smile cracked.

'What the fuck? How can she forget my face so soon! It's been a week at most since we met!' His mood became sullen as he thought of this.

'This girl only knows to piss me off when she opens her mouth! I should have learned my lesson the last time she spoiled my mood.' He cursed himself for waiting here to meet her.

He saw the look of enlightenment on her face as she told him that she remembered him.

'Does she have to keep calling me a creep!?' His poor heart couldn't handle being insulted this way.

He saw her smile at him sweetly but that just pissed him off even more.

'That's the same smile she gave the waiter! How dare she put me and a waiter at the same level!' He was fuming inside but instantly calmed down when he heard her sincere apology.

He wanted to say something nice but his pride did not allow him to do so after she had hurt his self-esteem, so he mocked her.

'Why did I have to say that!? She looks angry.' He regretted his words when he saw her fake smile and tried to handle the situation.

"Your parents must have taught you well." He complimented and her real smile returned.

He felt that he had made a better impression this time, looking at her appreciative face.

'She's leaving already?' He frowned when she said that she needed to go and directly walked away.

"Wait…!" He saw her turn but he himself did not know why he had stopped her.

'Shit shit shit…. What do I say?' He cleared his throat to buy him some time.

"Don't you want to know what my name is? or who I am?" He asked.

'Way to go, Reuben. Now she might think that I am a narcissistic asshole!' He facepalmed in his mind.

'But looking at how I am dressed, she must have guessed that I am rich. Then why isn't she hitting on me?' He looked at his suit and back at her again.

"Do I need to?" He heard her speak in a playful tone then she turned and walked away.

'Have I only been introduced to thirsty women or is she just different from all the women I know?' He scratched his head as he saw her leave.

Just when he was feeling a slight warmth in his chest, he heard her yell over the music before she completely disappeared.

'Who the hell is she calling a big fingered creep?' He gritted his teeth and shook his head.

'Nothing good ever comes out of her mouth.' He huffed and strode away.
