Chapter 82 - BURN!!

"Young Miss?"

Lina heard someone call out to her and she turned back to see who it was.

"Oh hey, Chef Greene!" She cheerfully said as she looked over her shoulders and went back to what she was doing.

Chef Greene walked into the kitchen to see what his Young Miss was doing this early in the morning.

The sun was just rising and Lina was already busy getting her hands dirty in the kitchen.

"Cookies?" He mumbled doubtfully when he looked into the big bowl that Lina was holding.

"Correct! My favorite pecan chocolate chip cookies!" She said and struggled to mix the thick cookie dough in the bowl.

"Let me help you out." He offered and took a step forward but Lina turned away from him.

"It's not too difficult, I can handle it. But can we whip me up some breakfast noodles?" She asked with cute puppy eyes and Chef Greene chuckled.

"Anything for Young Miss." He instantly rolled up his sleeves and got to work.

They worked side by side as he prepared her breakfast and she started lining her drop cookies on the baking trays.

A few minutes later, she had managed to put away all the trays in the oven and was waiting at the dining table for Chef Greene so that they might have breakfast together.

"Here you go!" He brought out their breakfast and they ate it together.

He also prepared fresh strawberry smoothies for her and she liked it very much that she even asked him to prepare extra so that she might take it to her office.

As they finished breakfast, her cookies were done and she rushed to get them out so that she might let them cool completely before she could pack them.

"These smell delicious!" Chef Greene bent to take a better look at the cookies whose choco chips looked gooey and glistening.

"Thanks!" She blushed at being complimented by a renowned chef like him.

She gave him instructions to let them cool untouched until she comes back after getting dressed for work.

She then went back to her room to decide what to wear for work today.

As she opened her wardrobe, she found that there were new clothes neatly arranged there that she hadn't seen before.

There was a little note on one of the jackets and she picked it up.

*I thought you might need them for work on Monday so I rushed through your order. If you are not satisfied with anything, please let me know.*

The note was signed with a 'JT' and had a number at the bottom.

"Who's JT?" Lina couldn't recall anyone she knew with those initials.

So she looked at the logo on the card and realized that it was the suit store that she and Stacy had visited.

"Stitches, right! I had forgotten about it. I'm glad he sent them, I won't have to worry about what to wear now." She realized that JT must be that old man she had met at the store.

She excitedly checked out all the clothes that were there and thought of what to wear.

She decided that today she would wear the new black high waisted trousers that had golden embroidery on its pockets.

The pants were ankle length and fit her perfectly. She matched them with a loose long-sleeved black silk blouse and decided to skip on the blazer today.

As she stood before the mirror, admiring her all-black badass ensemble she felt that something was missing.

"Where is it? I remember bringing it back with me!" She rummaged through her dresser compartments and finally found a crystal jewelry box.

"Found it!" She carefully opened it and looked at what was placed inside.

There was a beautiful intricate gold chain with a sparkling red diamond the size of a peanut attached to it.

She put it on and felt that her look for today was complete.

She quickly picked up a golden clutch and put on black velvet shoes with block heels that buckled at her ankles.

Satisfied with the way she looked she picked up her phone and laptop and went downstairs.

"Oh, Young Miss you are here! I've prepared your favorite breakfast for you!" Lina heard Mrs. Ping's excited voice when she was at the last step.

She looked at Mrs. Ping and saw that she was holding a big bowl of oatmeal and waved at her to come and sit down for breakfast.

'This is definitely revenge for the tip I gave Butler Ping, he must have driven her crazy last night!' Lina smiled back at her and shook her head.

"But Mrs. Ping I've already had my breakfast early in the morning." She innocently said and saw Mrs. Ping's deflated face.

"How about you feed it to Butler Ping? You must have worked hard on it and it would be bad to waste it!" Lina sweetly suggested and saw her face light up once again.

'Sorry Butler Ping, take one for the team.' She apologized to him in her mind for indirectly forcing oatmeal down his throat and happily skipped towards her cookies in the kitchen.

She packed them into four boxes. One for the staff on her floor, one for the people attending the meeting, one for Wade, and the last one for herself.

She would be starting her period sometime this week and wanted to be prepared to handle her sugar cravings with these delicious cookies.

After seeing everything prepared and ready, she asked one of the servants to help her load it into her car.

Suzie who magically appeared at that moment carried her laptop and a package as she followed after Lina to the car.

When they were outside the house, Lina saw Derek whom she had not seen this entire weekend.

"How was your weekend with your brother?" She asked him as she sat in the car and took the laptop and package that Suzie handed her.

The cookies were already placed in the car when she got there and all they had to do was drive away to the office.

"We had fun, Young Miss. He's been doing well in college." Derek proudly said as he drove and Lina nodded her head.

"I would like to meet him someday." She said and Derek promised to introduce his little brother to her when he gets the time.

On the way, Lina placed the package in the front seat and spoke when Derek looked at her through the rearview mirror.

"I made cookies today, so I wanted you to try them. Also, there's a strawberry smoothie that the chef prepared." She informed him and he gratefully smiled at her.

Soon they reached Obsidia's building and this time Lina waited for Derek to park the car and they went inside together.

As she entered the building, the security guards and everyone entering with her smiled at her as she passed them by.

She looked like an evil goddess with her hair in a high ponytail and half her face was hidden behind the oversized black and gold-rimmed sunglasses.

Her all-black outfit and the tall man following her while holding boxes attracted everyone's attention as they murmured when she was out of sight.

"Did the fairy get us something new?" A member of the marketing department squealed in excitement at this thought and everyone around looked at her in envy.

The petite woman proudly puffed out her chest and walked towards the elevator under everyone's burning gaze.

While all this was happening, Linda, the receptionist, sat behind the desk glared in the direction that Lina had left and smirked.

'Let's see how long you can act this proud!' She then turned her head away and harrumphed.

'What's her problem?' The other receptionist rolled her eyes and went back to refreshing the company chat group to see if anyone posted about what the cupcake fairy had brought this time.

---

When Lina and Derek reached the 22nd floor, she noticed that everyone was looking at her with interest and she tilted her head to comprehend what was going on.

"Derek? Is something wrong with what I wore today?" She turned to her left and asked Derek as they walked to her office.

"Absolutely not! Young Miss looks like a model from those fashion shows!" He said in all seriousness and this made Lina laugh out.

As she was unlocking her office, she felt a figure dashing towards her from the corner of her eye.

Lina instantly stood straight and was completely prepared to defend herself when she saw that Derek had already positioned himself before her in a protective stance.

'I'm so glad to have met such a nice guy!' She thanked her stars because Derek's move just now was totally on instinct.

When the zooming figure finally came to a halt just a few steps away from her, she had a better look at who it was and she almost cursed out.

"Do that again and you'll get sucker-punched in the throat!" Lina glared at Leon who was panting before her and saw that he was not paying any attention to what she had just said.

Derek too turned away and gestured for her to ignore him and enter the room.

"No Young Miss, going for the assailant's eyes would give you a better advantage in such a situation." Derek corrected her calmly and Lina nodded her head and said 'Oh..!'.

"What 'Oh'?" Leon glared at Lina as he followed them inside.

"And what assailant? Do I look like an assailant?" Leon questioned Derek and pouted as if they had wronged him.

"In a dark area with those clothes and especially that face, I wouldn't be shocked even if pepper spray was used." Derek pointed at Leon's pouting face and brutally dissed him with a straight face.

"Ouch! May I offer you some ice for that BURN!!?" Lina teased and laughed her ass off seeing Leon's dumbfounded expression.
