"My kiddo is looking great!" Uncle Pat pulled Wayne away from Lina and then he complimented her.
In response, she sweetly smiled at him and the others there.
"I could say the same for you two gentlemen!" She teased Uncle Pat and Uncle Ace when she observed their matching styles and ties.
Pat proudly nodded while Ace glared daggers at him.
"But Nana, look at me! We also match with each other." Wayne pouted and pointed at his tie.
She then realized that Wade and Wayne both had the same colored tie as her dress. A deep sapphire blue.
"But people might just assume that President Wayne Luo and the masked man are a secret couple because your suits coordinate each other more than they coordinate with me." She poked fun at him.
Wade and Wayne's suits were the exact same model, Wade wore the black version whereas Wayne wore the white one.
'Twincest!' She giggled when she imagined this.
"Get those dirty thoughts out of your mind!" Wade growled in her ear when he saw the dirty and perverted smile she had on her face.
Wade had spent more time with her so he knew exactly how perverted her brain could be sometimes.
She just pouted at them and hid behind Uncle Pat.
The other guests watched as the mysterious couple directly went and greeted the heads of the Luo and Yang family.
They tried to speculate what the identity of this lady was who seemed to be very close to them.
"Brother Wayne? Won't you introduce me to your new friend?" A youthful voice attracted their attention.
The happy family moment was interrupted by the pink-haired woman who was being ignored from the moment Lina had appeared.
"You don't need to know." Wayne did not even look at her.
'Love the hair color!' Lina applauded her bravery for opting for such unusual hair color.
"But I want to know who she is. Please, Brother Wayne!" Lina imitated the way that woman had spoken earlier.
"Anything for you." He beamed at Lina and looked at the other woman.
Valerie was baffled when she saw the difference in their treatment when Lina was acting just as bratty as she usually was.
"This is Valerie Zheng. Talia's Zheng's younger sister." He introduced her in a lazy tone.
"Oh… I've heard a lot about your sister." Lina nodded at Valerie.
'A lot of bad things.' She swallowed those words.
Valerie lifted her head high when she heard this compliment and proudly nodded back.
From the corner of his eye, Wayne had noticed that Reuben was making his way over to their side.
In his panic, he pulled on Lina's hand and dragged her to the dance floor.
"Nana, dance with brother for a while, okay?" He said when they reached the dance floor.
"Fine! But you did not have to drag me here. I could have walked myself." She rolled her eyes and accepted his outstretched hand.
He danced in such a way that her back was always towards Reuben and their eyes never met.
While these two danced, Wade was sulking and complaining to his uncles.
"She's my date but he snatched her first dance away!" He scowled when he saw the smirk on his twin's face.
Valerie had left when Wayne went away so they were free to talk normally, not that they cared about what she thought anyway.
"Since when have you cared so much about such silly things?" A deep voice was heard from behind him.
Wade slowly turned and found his best friend there with a glass of scotch in his hand.
There was no tail named Talia following him around because she had run off to greet his parents in the hope of making a good impression on them.
"Looking good! Did you lose weight?" Wade laughed awkwardly and tried to distract him.
'Do I even need to?' Reuben rolled his eyes.
"When were you planning to tell me about your new lady love?" He pointed his chin at Lina and Wayne on the dance floor.
Hearing his words, the three men glowered at him all at once.
'That's an interesting reaction from them. Even Ace's expression spilled out. There's something fishy going on here!' He keenly observed their faces.
"There's no lady love. That's just a new employee I asked to accompany me because my assistant was sick." Wade quickly made up a lie to wash away Reuben's suspicions.
'So she really is an employee at Obsidia?' He recalled his conversation with Helen Gu regarding the PR director of Obsidia.
Reuben just nodded his head and turned to his assistant.
'My mother's spy was here the entire time, I'm sure he must have heard something useful.' He smirked playfully.
"But I still have a doubt?" He asked Wade and saw his questioning face.
"If she is your date, then what is she doing with Wayne right now?" He glanced at the pair who were throwing down tequila shots at the bar.
'That dolt! Why is he getting her drunk!' Wade cursed when he saw this scene.
He peeked at his uncles and saw their angry faces as well.
'Go to her now!' He understood what Uncle Ace's signal meant and so he quickly followed the orders.
"Good question! I'll go and get my date back from that hijacker right this instant!" Wade declared and strode towards them.
Reuben felt uncomfortable when he heard 'my date' from Wade's mouth but he shook off that thought from his mind.
'Be supportive! That's your friend's date!' He chided himself and looked away from them.
He excused himself and went to greet his other business partners with Mathew Kim following after him.
After some time, his eyes once again searched for the figure in the sapphire gown and found her laughing as she placed her hand on Wade's chest as they danced together.
'Focus!' He pulled his eyes away from her and looked at the old man who was talking about a new venture that his company was planning.
--
"I'm tired!" Lina whined after she danced with Wayne, Wade, Uncle Pat, and finally Uncle Ace.
They were just dragging her to the dance floor one after the other, without giving her a chance to rest.
The men felt embarrassed because they were competing with each other to see who their Nana would like to dance with, but they had neglected the fact that she could have gotten tired after dancing in high heels for so long.
"Sorry, kiddo. You can rest here while we go talk to our friends." Pat gently stroked her head and walked away with Ace.
"Let me go get you a drink." Wayne offered and then walked towards the waiter.
Just as he took the glass from the waiter, there was a petite woman with a gorgeous green mermaid gown who had stopped him and they began to chat.
Lina and Wade shared a look and started laughing.
Everywhere he went he always found someone who wanted to hit on him or vice versa.
The petite woman's back was towards her which was why Lina did not recognize her.
If she had seen the woman's face then Lina would realize that she was the same woman who had caused a scene at Cecilia's when Lina was late for her appointment.
Wade was looking around to see who else he knew in this crowd when his phone rang.
"I'll be back in a sec." He whispered in her ears and walked to the balcony to attend the call.
A waiter passed by and Lina picked up a champagne flute and walked a few steps away from that place.
She sipped on her drink and watched the other couples dancing on the floor.
Among all the young couples, there was an odd pair there. An older couple danced with each other.
She could see the woman giggle when the man whispered something in her ears and then she playfully hit his chest.
'I miss mommy and daddy!' She reminisced all the times when she was embarrassed by their excessive PDA at such events. But they were her couple goals.
'I wish I can find someone who will be that loving and kind to me even when I'm old and not as beautiful as before.' She sweetly smiled at the couple who were in their own world without a care for what others thought about them.
"You look just like her."
Her beautiful nostalgic moment was interrupted when she heard someone speak too close to her ear.
She hurriedly stepped away as if she was burned and vigilantly eyed the man who had just invaded her privacy so rudely.
"I'm sorry if I have startled you, I just wanted to talk." He spoke politely and raised his glass to her.
Lina scrutinized him as she raised her glass to clink against his.
The man looked like he must be around her uncles' age. He was almost the same height as she was after wearing her 4 inch high heels.
Though he wasn't extremely good looking he still had a certain mature charm to him.
"Your mother would look at me with the same searching eyes every time we met." He smiled at her.
'Forget about knowing my mother. Like you even know who I am?' Lina curbed her sarcasm and awkwardly smiled at him.
She did not feel any weird vibes from him so she decided to ignore this matter and leave.
"I'm sorry, sir. I think you've mistaken me for someone else. I better go back to my date." Lina slightly bowed her head at him and turned around.
"How has Cecilia been all these years?" He uttered when he saw that she really was going to leave.
'How did he know?' Her eyes widened as she turned around and looked at him with confusion apparent in them.
"Such beautiful eyes, if only they were not tainted with that filthy color. Tsk!" He clicked his tongue and shook his head.
Lina frowned deeply when she heard his remark about her eyes.
Then suddenly he raised his hand and reached out to touch her face, so she skillfully dodged him.
Lina took a step away from him and trembled when she noticed the change in the look of his eyes.
'The look of a crazy person.' She panicked when she saw him move forward as she continued to move backward.
His temperament had changed so quickly that even Lina was surprised.
'Ugh!' She groaned inwardly.
Her back had slammed against a pillar and she had no more space to move.
"Why does it look like you are terrified of me? When all I want to do is have a pleasant chat with the daughter of the legendary Cecilia." He smiled but that smile made the hair on Lina's body rise up.
'Wade! Wayne! Uncle! Someone, please come quick!' She prayed in her mind and warily looked at this dangerous man as her entire body shivered.
"Is something the matter here?"
Her prayers were quickly answered when she heard someone else's voice.
She turned her head in a slapdash manner and smiled gratefully at her savior.
