Mathew Kim had arrived at Obsidia's HQ a good half hour before Reuben and Lina had shown up.
He had been lazily sitting inside the car and had been banging his head on the window when he noticed a tall man walking briskly towards the entrance of Obsidia.
'Isn't that Lina's assistant?' He sat upright and quickly got out of the car.
Jogging in his comrade's direction, he called out to him with a loud voice.
"Oi, Benji!" He yelled and ran faster when he saw the mountain-sized man stopping in his tracks.
The security guard recognized Mathew Kim and bowed to greet him and then glanced at Benji who had made this powerful assistant of Emperor Ming to run all the way towards him.
Yet Benji was not bothered about the curious glances coming his way.
He shook his head in disappointment as he waited for Mathew Kim to catch his breath.
"Your boss is so fit and athletic and you are the total opposite of him." He dissed the shorter man and rolled his eyes when Mathew looked up at him with a glare.
"My Ollie-pop likes my soft tummy rather than hard board-like abs." He huffed arrogantly as he mentioned the preferences of his wife, Olive Kim.
"Plus that man is a gym freak like you!" He scoffed while thinking of his boss who would not skip a day of working out.
However, today that miraculous day had suddenly arrived.
'Not only did the boss not go back home last night, he even missed his daily workout for Lina. She really has him wrapped around her little finger.' He admired the seemingly impossible magical spell that she had cast on him.
His unfeeling and indifferent boss was now trying to win over someone with all his might.
This thought itself was extremely fascinating to Mathew who had watched how multiple women had tried to win his Emperor over, only to fall flat on their faces.
He then cackled like an old lady as he thought of the events that led him to wait outside Obsidia.
Benji shuddered when he heard the maniacal laughter and decided to stay away from this weird person.
"If there is nothing that you have to say to me then I shall take my leave." He announced with a polite smile and then turned away.
'Lina hasn't been to the office for a week already and I need to make sure that everything is taken care of before she arrives today.' He decided and then started walking once again.
Mathew pouted when he saw this. After which he quickly ran and stood before him, blocking his way.
"Your boss will be here soon, won't you welcome her? She's already pretty famous in the city now. You never know when someone might try to attack her." He nonchalantly mentioned these sentences and smirked when he saw Benji's confused face.
"Why would anyone want to harm Lina?" Benji retorted with a deep frown setting on his face.
It was his job as assistant cum bodyguard to keep her safe but now this scrawny man was implying that Lina was in some sort of danger.
Benji was not yet aware of the uproar regarding her real identity in the social media sites.
Hence he was oblivious to what Mathew was trying to convey to him.
Mathew had hinted about this and was expecting Benji to already know everything about it.
Yet it seemed like the big man was kept in the dark about this matter.
"I'm hungry. Accompany me to that cafe and I'll fill you in one all the details that you have missed since last night." Mathew proposed and after a few seconds of deliberation, was answered with a simple nod.
On the way to the cafe, Mathew revealed everything that had happened to Benji.
At least all the details that he had heard from Renee.
"I already know that Lina is a Yang. Tell me how that will affect her safety?" Benji intervened when Mathew was going on and on about all the other people who had attended the party.
"Lina's identity might have made her famous but if people know who stayed back at her house… Mathew paused and then looked around to see if someone was eavesdropping on their conversation.
Benji rolled his eyes seeing this weird man doing weird and childish things.
'I pity that Ming guy for having to tolerate this nuisance every day.' He shook his head in dismay.
"Then that person's followers might not hesitate to even skin Lina alive." He shivered after he completed his words.
Benji scoffed when he saw those exaggerated actions of his but his interest was piqued at the same time.
"Who was it?" He bent closer to let Mathew whisper in his ear.
"My boss! I think he might be trying to woo your boss!" He excitedly exclaimed but was not met with the same excitement from the man next to him.
"We will soon be assistants-in-law! How cool would that be!?" Mathew cheered and then entered the cafe.
Benji stood frozen in the same place for a few seconds before he recovered and followed the shorter man.
Upon entering the cafe, he was graced with the sight of the glutton trying to buy the entire menu.
"Two banana strawberry smoothies, please." Benji interrupted the man's long list and handed over his card to the cashier.
Though he was upset, Mathew silently accepted the free smoothie and they exited the cafe.
"Why do you think that Reuben likes Lina?" He questioned while taking small swigs of the drink.
Mathew's eyes sparkled and he divulged all the times that they had met Lina and every single time, Reuben's reaction to her was out of the ordinary.
"The last time we met at the mall, wasn't my boss openly flirting with Lina?" He pointed to their 'coincidental' meeting at Phoenix Mall.
'That was the day Lina fell into a coma! What an unlucky star that Ming guy is!' Benji grimaced when he thought of the almost lifeless body that laid in that pristine white hospital gown.
"See… I told you that we wouldn't be late. As I had told you, they are still flirting with each other!" Mathew's cheerful voice brought Benji back from his thoughts.
They then stood and watched the show happening in silence.
However, halfway through the conversation, Mathew Kim's eyes opened wide when she heard Lina introducing Noah Jin.
'Now I recall where I had seen him!' He nodded his head in understanding.
Thinking of that encounter, he remembered how he had seen that same man again when he had gone to buy caramel pudding for his pregnant wife.
The moment that memory popped up in his mind, he hurriedly hid behind Benji to conceal his presence.
Benji rolled his eyes and decided to ignore his weird shenanigans because he was more interested in Reuben and Lina's dynamic.
"Hey, Lina, why don't you give me your number?" Noah asked as he fished out his phone from the pocket.
Lina frowned and raised an eyebrow when she clearly recalled giving it to him at their first meeting.
Seeing the confusion written all over her face, Noah sighed and then explained what had happened.
"Do you remember the day I met you at that cafe?" He questioned and was answered with a nod.
Mathew flinched when Noah mentioned that cafe and further shielded his presence from the others.
"I was on the way back home and someone stole my phone. I went to the cops but they can't seem to find it anywhere and I can't recover any of the previous contacts either." Noah sighed as he revealed the tragedy that had taken place that day.
Mathew on the other hand was sweating profusely because that robbery was the result of the task that he had given one of his men.
'I was under the impression that my boss liked Lina back then and I did this to help him out.' He defended his actions however he knew that he was in the wrong there.
When Renee had told him not to interfere in their matters, it was already too late because his lackey had called to inform him that the mission was successful.
Lina nodded in understanding and was about to stretch out her hand to accept his phone when another hand caught hold of hers.
Looking up, she saw Steph pouting at her and this made her tilt her head.
He held her palm in his hand and then pulled her towards the main door of Obsidia.
"Noona, we are already late! Let's go!" He urged her to move faster.
'Hmph! I know what my brother is thinking and I won't let him succeed!' He huffed and dragged her along with him.
Lina chuckled and followed after him, forgetting about the two men who were left behind seething in anger.
Not only did Steph drag Lina away, but he also turned back and stuck his tongue out to mock the two older men.
"That brat!" Both Reuben and Noah muttered at the same time and glanced at each other.
'I was upset that the spoilt brat held my Kitten's hand… But he stopped this pest's attempt of getting closer to her so I can let that go for now.' Reuben forgave Steph's insolence thanks to the greater good that it had resulted in.
He gave Noah an uninterested glimpse and then turned back to watch as Lina disappeared into the building.
'I'll be meeting you soon, Kitten.' He smiled and then turned around to walk away.
Noah stood in the same place and alternated his sights between the man who left and the woman who was dragged away.
'Did my younger brother, my own flesh and blood just cockblock me?' He wondered and gnashed his teeth.
This was not the first time that Steph had interfered when he was talking to Lina.
The last time when they had met at his university, he had tried to do the same but his plans were thwarted by this very same imp!
'We'll meet again, Lina Yang.' He looked up at the tall building with OBSIDIA DESIGNS written on it and then slowly walked away.
The two assistants who were still standing at the side glanced at each other and raised their brows.
"Looks like a lot is going to happen in the near future." Mathew remarked with an amused expression on his face.
Benji gave him a somber nod and then they both went their separate ways in order to follow their respective bosses.
