In the awkward silence, Lina stole glances at the man who was sitting opposite to her seat.
Reuben would occasionally look up when he felt the gaze of his Kitten but always met the crown of her head as she would immediately look down.
'Why is she still so shy? Wasn't she pretty bold when she stole that kiss earlier?' He stated in amusement when he saw the blush on her cheeks when he finally caught her peeking at him.
'Shit!' Lina panicked when their eyes met and she hurried to look away.
The other two people at the table felt as though they were invisible after witnessing what had just occurred.
Right now they were sitting at a round table inside a private room of a famous restaurant.
Reuben kept his promise of feeding Lina and had announced that he would be taking her out to eat when the other two decided to come along.
More like they followed after them uninvited but he could not ask them to leave after taking Lina's feelings into account.
However, before they could reach the restaurant, Reuben took a quick detour when he saw a hospital as they were on their way.
Despite her refusals, Lina was dragged inside for a check-up and only after getting an all-clear from the doctor did the three men sigh in relief.
Lina did not know how to feel when she realized that had just earned another overprotective man in her life but the blush on her cheeks revealed that she was enjoying him fussing over her health.
Not wanting to be the only one feeling his care, she dragged him inside and got his lacerated lip checked as well.
Thus, now they sat opposite each other, one with a bandaid over his lip and the other with a bandage over her wrist.
Having had enough of their little Peekaboo game, one of the twins decided to speak up about his dissatisfactions.
"Will you stop that already!" Wade scoffed after noticing the silent looks they had been giving each other for the past few minutes now.
Wayne nodded his head in agreement not forgetting to throw a nasty glare at his so-called best friend and then a scowl meant for his little sister.
"What?" Reuben lashed out when he saw the look of disgust he had just received when he had not spoken a single word since they had arrived.
Wayne crossed his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes at the other man.
"Can you stop being so lovey-dovey in our presence!? We are her brothers and this is intensely grossing us out!" He explained the reason for the glare.
'I'm used to seeing his retch every time a woman comes close to him and not him shooting flirty looks at them.' Wayne shuddered slightly as he thought of it in this way.
Not only was Reuben shooting starry eyes at a woman but also that woman turned out to be his precious little sister.
Reuben was always known to be the one who was repulsed by even the thought of women at a close distance from him but now he was acting so docile and meek in Lina's presence.
'Was Nana a beast tamer in her past life?' He wondered and his admiration for his sister grew by leaps and bounds.
Reuben on the other hand was not so pleased.
In fact, he was sulking because his plans of having a quiet and romantic lunch date with Lina had been thwarted by these two shameless hooligans.
According to the 'Courting list' that Grandpa Ming had given him, he was supposed to take Lina out on dates as often as he could in order to make his presence stronger and irreplaceable in her life.
This was exactly his reason for arriving at Obsidia today.
'My plans for taking Kitten to a fancy restaurant and getting to know her better is now all gone thanks to these two freeloaders!' He lamented as he cursed his best friends for being the third and fourth wheel on what was supposed to be their first date.
'First Date!' He giggled as the thought of this being their 'date' came to his mind.
This would mean that they are an official couple now.
The three siblings looked up when they heard the man known for his indifference and cold demeanor, giggling when nothing funny had taken place.
"Off your rockers so soon? Old age is already getting to you." Wade sneered with a mocking smile on his face.
Lina shot him a disapproving glare which was immediately retorted with a scoff.
'She's already taking his side over us! What will happen if they get closer? Will Nana abandon us!?' He panicked and glanced at his elder brother.
Wayne had been observing their silent glares and finally turned to look at his friend.
"Look at what you did!? You two haven't even been dating for an entire day and you are already breaking our family apart!" He accused Reuben of being a homewrecker in the most bizarre of ways.
Lina almost choked on the water that she had just sipped when she heard her elder brother's words.
"What nonsense are you spouting!? Making it sound like Ruby is some kind of a second party or a mistress in this relationship!" She scowled at her brothers who were nodding their heads in agreement.
"Now that you say that… That's exactly what it feels like! He's stealing you away from us!" Wade expressed his insecurities with a serious face.
Reuben rolled his eyes looking at their overdramatic shenanigans and handed Lina a napkin to wipe her mouth with.
"Shut it, you two! I came here to feed my Kitten and you are spoiling my appetite just by being here!" He scowled at them as his eyes narrowed dangerously.
"If you cannot eat in silence then you might as well leave us alone!" He ordered in a stern voice.
Wade and Wayne pouted when they were so rudely asked to get lost.
As though it was the most natural thing to do, they turned to look at their younger sister in hopes of getting justice from her and they were not disappointed.
Lina's brows were raised and her head was tilted to the side as a sweet smile sat on her face.
"What was that just now, Ruby? Who do you think should leave?" She questioned and slowly blinked her eyes.
'No one bullies my brothers but me!' She glowered in her heart yet the smile on her face never faded.
Reuben gulped when he saw the smile, something that he was often known for being directed at him.
'Is this how you feel when I smile at you?' He inquired of the twins using his eyes and got an earnest nod in reply from them.
"Hehe, Kitten… Have this as well! This place is famous for it." He sheepishly chuckled and placed a delicious looking spring roll on her plate.
Ever the foodie, Lina instantly dropped her glare and happily ate the food that he had served her.
'Traitor!' Both Wade and Wayne yelled in their minds when they saw how quickly she had been placated by this evil CEO.
They then turned around and faced Reuben who smirked at them and shrugged his shoulders lazily.
His eyes then turned to the woman who was enjoying the food on her plate.
Though he had been sulking on the inside because he did not get to spend some alone time with Lina, he was still grateful to have the opportunity of having this lunch with her.
'Next time I will surely take her out alone! With no extra wheels!' He vowed as his fingers tightened their hold on the silverware.
Lina was oblivious to the plans that he had been making and silently enjoyed her scrumptious lunch.
As they ate, Wade would sometimes talk about Obsidia and Lina would give out her opinions and orders on what to do next.
'Isn't she a little too involved with the company's plans and actions?' Reuben wondered when he saw them talking shop.
However, he did not think too deeply into this matter and continued to place food on her plate.
Wayne felt left out when he saw them talking about Obsidia and when he tried to strike a conversation with Reuben, he was given the cold shoulder.
'You can't just punch me and expect me to be fine afterward.' He scoffed and ignored his existence.
While they were at the hospital, Lina had explained how she had managed to injure herself without letting them know about the breathtaking kisses they had shared.
'I punched Reuben for trying to mock me.' She explained which was true in a way.
After the truth behind the matter was revealed, Wayne felt bad for attacking his sworn brother without trying to find out what had really happened.
'But it was because Wade had made it sound as though Reuben would hurt Nana!' He pouted after being thrown away by his best friend.
Lina could notice the awkward atmosphere between the three men but decided to not bother about them and focused on her food.
'Kissing really is exhausting! If I am this tired and weak after a kiss, what exactly would happen if we do 'that'!?' She blushed furiously while imagining certain things that she shouldn't even be thinking of at this moment.
"Here, try this." Reuben extended his hand and handed her a glass filled with iced tea.
Lina's eyes focused on his hand, especially on his fingers and soon her mind wandered to another place.
The perspiration on the glass combined with his long and thick fingers made Lina remember their first meeting.
'I fell in love with his fingers at first sight but I dissed him to conceal my embarrassment.' She recalled and looked up from the man's hand to his face.
The moment she gazed up at him, Reuben felt his heart pound against his chest almost painfully when he saw the breathtaking smile that she had flashed him before accepting the glass.
'What was that just now!?' He grasped the tie around his neck and loosened it.
The tightness in his chest and the throbbing he felt was enough to freak him out.
'Did I just have a mini heart attack?' He stared wide-eyed at his plate and panicked before deciding to get a full-body check-up before the day came to an end.
