Chapter 210 - The Second Person

After an absolutely boring day at work, Lina decided to head back home.

However, when Derek had come to pick her up she asked him to take her back to Yang Manor rather than to the Luo Residence.

She knew that she could stay there forever if she wanted to but how could she leave her home for too long?

Not to forget that there were two flies who were waiting for a chance to take over the reins of her ancestral house.

'I love Butler Mo's cooking but I still miss Mrs. Ping's home-cooked meals.' She confessed inwardly on her ride back home.

Another factor for her sudden change in mind was her cold war with Wayne which did not seem to end anytime soon as he refused to see his fault in the entire incident.

Shrugging those depressing thoughts away, Lina smiled when she saw the home that she had grown up in appear before her eyes.

The fountain with the naked cherubims brought a mischievous giggle out of her mouth which made Derek smile as he halted the car.

He nodded when she bid him farewell and then waited until she had safely entered the Manor before he drove to the garage to park the car.

'I'm glad that the annoying man did not accompany her!' He frowned when he thought of how Reuben had been trying to stick to her much like gum stuck on the sole of a shoe.

Emperor Ming who had been signing the final documents of the contracts between Ming Enterprise and Zheng Groups sneezed thrice continuously.

Sadly, he contributed this occurrence to the cold that the doctor had diagnosed rather than the fact that he had just been compared to nasty gum stuck on the roadside.

Reuben was greatly pleased with the projects that the Zheng Groups had proposed this time and hence he wasted no time in getting the contracts approved by his legal team before putting his precious signature on them.

"The Zheng Groups might stop being in the red for this quarter if your company can keep producing such brilliant projects." He praised and accepted the hand offered by the representative sent by the Zheng Groups.

The middle-aged man who had come on behalf of President Henri Zheng was immensely flattered and overjoyed after receiving such high praise from the Emperor himself.

"Thank you, Mr. Ming. We will keep in touch and surely make this project a grand success." He reassured once again while nodding his head multiple times.

Working with the top company in the city was a dream that many companies had but only a few could fulfill that dream.

He was aware that most of their earlier projects were approved thanks to the close relationship that the two families had.

But ever since Young Master Reuben Ming had taken control of the company, he refused to give such handouts and only collaborated with companies that could fetch him a hefty profit.

Thus forcing the Zheng Groups to up their game.

They had gone on a hiring spree and hired many talented minds in hopes of improving their chances of gaining partnerships with Ming Enterprises and it looks like their hard work finally paid off.

After the representative left the building, he smacked his forehead and squinted his eyes as he looked up at the top floor of the Ming Enterprises with a troublesome question in his mind.

'How could I forget to tell them about this crucial information? Should I go back and let Assistant Kim know that the second person heading this project after me is the President's daughter?' He pondered on what his next step should be.

He then remembered the news from a while back about the relationship between the two youngsters and decided to not bother about it any further.

'Wasn't there news about talks regarding their betrothal in the near future? President Zheng wants to use this project as a chance for Young Miss Talia to accompany CEO Ming so I don't think that they would mind it.' He deduced and then went on his merry way.

He had to rush back to his office to give this good news to his President who would be eagerly waiting for his return.

Back inside the CEO's office, Reuben was leaning his head on the backrest of the comfortable chair and had his eyes closed.

The doctor had asked him not to overwork himself and get some much-needed rest and therefore he had decided to leave early today.

He felt heavy in the head and a stuffy feeling in his chest but he did not regret talking to Lina for hours last night.

Sitting out on the balcony in only a bathrobe and wet hair had caused him to catch a cold but he would do it all over again without a moment's hesitation.

'Talking to her and clearing my doubts was the right thing to do.' He admired his courage and was grateful that he had done that as now he felt much more relieved and secure in this relationship.

"Boss, the project was surprisingly good!" Assistant Kim exclaimed as he entered the room.

When he noticed that his Boss was resting his eyes, he panicked for having disturbed him but heaved a sigh of relief when Reuben instantly answered him with a simple nod.

"They need all the help they can get. If Henri Zheng can't get his company afloat after this quarter then I doubt that his debtors will let him live… in peace." He muttered in a low voice as his eyes remained shut.

Not many people knew about how Zheng Groups was stuck in deep waters for months now without any way out of it.

Although they were in dire times, they liked to put up appearances of having mild problems that could be easily solved.

However, the true businessmen were all aware and wary of accepting any projects from them.

Despite the rumors about them, Reuben had only agreed to work with them if they could offer something good in return.

The reason why he had made such a compromise was only because of his father's continual insistence.

'If it wasn't for father's commands then I wouldn't look at them twice.' He sneered yet kept his thoughts to himself.

Fortunately, Zheng Group had managed to pump out a good project which dealt with building a chain of apartment buildings which would be near different universities in the city.

Since Ming Enterprises was a real estate business, to begin with, they had plenty of such properties in the city.

Not only would the people already residing in the present smaller houses closer to the universities get better housing but also many young college-going students could rent the place for a cheaper price.

Reuben's company did not cater only to the rich and wealthy but also in places where they could make a profit all while helping someone out.

This was also one of the main reasons why Ming Enterprises had such a great reputation and supporters even in the middle-class families.
