Chapter 245 - Check The Boxes

Reuben watched as Lina tapped around on her phone's screen and then after a few seconds she looked up at his face with a surprised expression.

"They do expire!" She exclaimed and after she spent a few seconds of research on the search engine.

Placing the phone on the table next to the neatly arranged boxes, she extended her hand towards the man.

Getting the signal, he accepted her hand and pulled her up from the floor with ease.

Lina sat with her legs folded on the couch and turned her body sideways to face him.

"They expire after 5 years." She revealed the new information she had gained today.

She then glimpsed at the big stack of boxes which each had multiple condoms inside them.

'We will take years to run out of these condoms.' She imagined and then for the first time since she had opened the package, she blushed.

The thought of doing stuff with Reuben which would require these to be used made her blush and shy away from them.

'Now that is a normal reaction that any girl would have!' Reuben sighed that there was nothing wrong with her.

His justification was that she was just inherently slow in reacting to the situation and he was willing to cope up with this small flaw in her mannerisms.

If Lina had known that her reaction to the ecchi thoughts in her brain had gained the impression of 'slow' in Reuben's mind then she would have smacked him on the head.

"How can we finish this in five years?" Her mumbles made his eyes widen.

He shot her a ridiculous look which made her glance back at him with bewilderment.

"Check the boxes." He mentioned as he did not want to reveal the shameless trick that his grandfather had played.

"Okay?" Lina agreed even though she was confused as to why he had asked her to do so.

Within a few seconds, her face too changed colors when she saw the time of expiry closer than what she had imagined it to be.

"The manufacturing date is from almost five years ago." She remarked as her jaw dropped to the floor.

"Yes…" His disheartened agreement proved that she was not mistaken.

She quickly picked up another box, then another, and then another but the results were all the same.

"Every single one of them is two months away from expiry?" She wondered out loud and received a hum in response.

Lina could not believe that Reuben's grandpa had played such a weird prank on them.

"We will just have to use them up before they expire." Reuben suggested with an evil grin on his face.

'Let us see how she reacts to this!' He smirked as he watched her turn and look him in the eyes.

However, his wishes of seeing her blushed crumbled to dust when he heard her next words.

"I don't think you can finish them in two months…" Her mutters echoed in his ears, causing him to stare at her with eyes wide open.

"Are you doubting my capabilities?" Reuben's low growl brought her back to her senses.

The woman who had been thinking of how to not let these boxes go to waste was now thinking of how to calm the fire breathing dragon.

Reuben's eyes were narrowed as he intently glared at her as though he would swallow her alive at any second.

The worst thing a girl could do was to doubt her man's prowess in this department.

'All the CEOs had great confidence in their abilities and I think I just poked a sleeping dragon.' She gulped and then put on an appeasing smile.

"Ha-ha… Ruby, you know that was not what I meant by that…" She began her defense but nothing seemed to work.

Reuben leaned forward which made Lina lean backward.

"Then what was it that you meant when you said that I cannot finish them all in two months?" He sneered as he moved in her direction.

This little game continued until Lina felt her back touch the couch.

Reuben supported his body weight by placing his hands on the couch on either side of her body and leaned forward until their faces were a few inches apart.

'Why… Why does he look so pissed?' Lina panicked and she was urging her brain to come up with a valid explanation for what she had said.

Her eyes brightened when she got the proper answer that she was looking for.

"How can we use them when we haven't had sex yet!" She blurted out in her panic.

However, the reaction of relief and understanding that she had expected to receive from him was not what she witnessed.

Instead, she saw his eyes darken as an evil and devious smirk appeared on his face.

He then moved closer until his lips touched her ear which made her shudder in response.

"Why don't we change that, huh Kitten?" He whispered in her ear.

'He is dangerous!' She realized when he blew his hot breath into her ears.

Lina could feel the hair on her back standing at attention thanks to this little sneaky move that Reuben had made.

This caused her cheeks to turn pink as she blushed while imagining what he had just suggested.

Instantly, her brain conjured up images of two bodies glistening with sweat as they wrapped around each other leaving no space between them.

The position they were in right now was not helping her in the least bit to wipe those images from her mind.

"R-Ruby… I-" She had begun stammering her response when they heard a weird noise.

The two people who were on the couch, practically stuck to each other's bodies turned in the direction of the disturbance.

The phone on the table was vibrating in its place as its screen illuminated every few seconds.

Finding the chance to escape during his moment of distraction, Lina slithered out of his hold.

Reuben did not pursue her further as he sat up straight and stared at her intently.

'Looks like I cannot control myself when she is around.' He surmised as the only possible explanation for his previous lascivious behavior.

He had done that to tease her but when he saw the shy and coy look in her eyes, he felt that he needed to extract those expressions from her more often.

Lina grabbed the phone and smiled when she saw who the caller was.

"How have you remembered me after so long~" She chuckled as she answered the call.

Reuben was itching to know who could be on the other side who was receiving such a warm and jovial greeting from her.

His curiosity vanished when he heard the loud cry echoing from the phone.

Lina too moved the phone away from her ear to ensure the safety of her delicate and sensitive ears.

"Steph, spare my ears please!" She requested while slowly moving the phone back to her ear.

Stephen Jin, the person who had yelled out 'NOONA' the moment she had answered the call, felt wronged when he heard her request.

"Noona, not only did you not meet me on that day you haven't come to my office in such a long time!" The childish voice echoed in the silent room.

The day that Steph had mentioned was when he had dragged his Noona away from her brother and the Emperor's presence.

That was also the same day when Lina had accepted Reuben as her boyfriend so how could she forget what he was talking about?

"I was busy recently." She sheepishly replied while scratching her cheek.

Reuben recalled the only interaction he had with that brat who stuck close to his Kitten and smirked when an evil thought popped up in his mind.

"Baby, my throat is sore!" He whined and even coughed to make his acting believable.

Both Lina and Steph froze when they heard his hoarse voice.

Lina glanced at him and the first thing she did was nod before she rose from the couch.

'He has been calling me 'baby' for quite some time now!' She recalled that he had started to do so from when she had woken up after the choking incident.

While she moved to the kitchen to fetch him some warm water from the electric kettle that Mrs. Jun had left for him, Steph was enduring a mental trauma.

His Noona was called 'Baby' by someone and he did not know who that bastard was.

"Noona, where are you right now?" He inquired after he regulated his emotions to sound as calm as he could.

Lina's hand which was now holding the glass of warm water trembled when she heard his question.

She glanced at the man who was sitting on the couch and staring at her as she moved in his direction and then at the phone in her other hand.

"I am with my boyfriend." She answered truthfully which made Reuben's face blossom like a thousand sunflowers facing the morning sun.

The exact opposite reaction was from the young man on the other side of the phone call.

"Is it Mr. Ming?" Steph investigated as his face darkened more than an eclipsed sun.

Lina's hum in response was the only answer he received.

"Oh… When can I meet you? I have some things that need your opinion!" His cheerful voice emanated through the phone which made Lina sigh for reasons she too was unaware of.

"I can come to meet you tomorrow for lunch? This time I will keep my appointment without fail!" She promised and waited for his reply.

Steph gave his consent to her plans and soon bid her goodbye.

Once he hung up, he glanced at the long line of employees who worked under him.

The men and women together shuddered under his vicious glare and continued to stare at the floor in fear that they might be subjected to his wrath if they made eye contact.

The Little Devil of Obsidia Designs moved his gaze through all the cowering employees and then focussed his eyes on one person in particular.

"My room… Now!" He dictated and then walked away in the direction of his workspace.

Everyone stared at the person who had been summoned with pity-filled eyes and prayed for their safety.
