Chapter 298 - What Have You Done!?

"Yes, I do." Reuben's answer was filled with confidence which oozed from every word he spoke.

Of course, Felix was not satisfied with the answer he received but he did not argue with his son.

'Anything I say will make me seem as though I am supporting Talia in this matter.' He admitted and then rose from his seat as he headed back to his room.

"Before you do anything… Make sure that you have enough proof." He muttered and then bid his goodbye before disconnecting the call.

'I hope that Talia is not involved in this.' He prayed for her safety that by some ill chance if she had indeed been involved in this scheme against Lina then Reuben would not spare her.

Reuben was having the same thoughts as his father had expected him to have.

Once the call was disconnected, Reuben sighed and sent a few texts out before he tossed his phone aside as he pondered on the conversation he just had with his father.

'I shall wait for Trigger to find more information about this.' He decided after the text had been sent to the head of his security.

He had ordered his men to find more information about these incidents and to check whether there was any correlation between the office and the tea party that had taken place simultaneously.

He was sure to make that Rong woman and Jeanette pay for the rumors they had spread about Lina but the matter regarding the others would need some time to figure things out.

He could not touch the Zhengs without proper proof as he did not want to go against his father so he decided to stay still for the present time.

"However… If Talia was involved in this mess then she can kiss that project collaboration goodbye." He snarled and rose from his seat as he headed towards his bedroom.

"I need to begin my hectic schedule from tomorrow." He groaned as he would certainly miss spending time at home instead of working his ass off in the office.

While Reuben had decided to take a warm bath and wash away all his stress and worries, the air in Yang Manor was chilling, to say the least.

____

Patrick Yang glared at the women who stood still with their eyes staring back at him as though he had wronged them.

"What have you done!?" He snarled at them but did not hear any answer from them which infuriated him further.

About ten minutes ago,

Patrick had returned home and when he had noticed something strange upon entering the house, he had been overjoyed and almost squealed out in excitement.

'So they finally decided to leave me alone! I get my freedom back and can get Wally back to this house!' He rejoiced as his eyes dwelled on the two large suitcases on the floor.

He had come back home a few moments ago and the first thing he noticed was two huge suitcases placed in the Main Hall and these two women sitting on the other side of the couch.

Putting the two together, he had deduced that he was finally getting rid of these flies that had pestered him for long enough now.

Noticing his presence, Mandy and Lucille glanced in his direction and stood up to greet him.

The older woman took a few steps forward and came closer to him at the speed of lightning.

"My Lord!" Lucille's overdramatic and coquettish voice made Patrick cringe as usual as he stepped away from her reach.

The outstretched arm which had been lifted to take his coat off his back remained in the air as the man had avoided her touch as though she was the carrier of a plague.

Though she was hurt by his strong refusal to her touch, she smiled nonetheless as she had met him after a few days.

'I yelled at them the last time I was here and yet she has the heart to smile at me as though there was nothing wrong?' Uncle Pat was impressed with how thick her skin was.

Mandy had decided that she would only talk to her father once he came back to his senses and treated her with the love and care that she deserved.

Hence she stood at a distance and continued staring at him with no intentions of coming forward and greeting him.

'Once Lina's truth is revealed to the world maybe then you will know who deserves the title of heiress and all of your love.' She scoffed at her father who was blinded by the charms of that cousin of hers.

By now, Butler and Mrs. Ping had arrived at the Main Hall after hearing the sounds of their voices which had reached the kitchen where they had been all along.

Mrs. Ping had been listening to what had happened before she pulled her husband along and had made their entrance.

Butler Ping was quick to notice how Lucille Rong had tried to take the coat from his master but was brutally rejected which gave him much satisfaction.

Stepping in his master's direction, he took the coat off his back as Patrick did not move this time and let the old man do his job.

"So what's with the luggage?" Patrick inquired while trying his best to maintain a calm expression when all he wanted to do was leap with joy at this moment.

His eyes which had been fixed on the mother and daughter elicited a confused shrug from them, denoting that they had no clue about it.

Mandy and her mother had been here ever since Lina and her assistant had left but they had no idea why and whose luggage was placed here by the servants.

This nonchalant answer made Patrick frown as he turned his gaze towards the butler who gulped in trepidation.

"These belong to young miss, she had sent them down with some servants." Mrs. Ping spoke up in her husband's stead as she was there when this incident had taken place.

Hearing the new information from the old lady, Patrick's brows furrowed together as he glanced at the luggage which seemed to be filled to capacity, and then towards the women who were on the other side.

'If this belongs to Nana then there is only one explanation for this!' He concluded and then narrowed his eyes as he glared at these two women.

Lucille had been focusing her attention on the magazine while Mandy continued yapping about the influential women she had met at the tea party.

Neither of them had a clue about the owner of the luggage nor did they have any interest to know more about it.

Hence when the servants were fetching the luggage, they had turned a blind eye towards it.

'As long as those suitcases aren't ours then I don't give a damn about who they belong to.' Lucille had commented when Mandy had asked whose bags those could be.

However, now their lack of curiosity had come back to bite them in their ass as those bags turned out to be Lina's and it looked like Patrick had not taken that news all too well.

"What have you done!?" His loud bellow made them flinch as they stared at him with aggrieved eyes as they had no knowledge about this.
