Chapter 300 - Trying To Stop Her

When Benji and Lina had just reached the bottom of the staircase, Lina was pulled to the side by her assistant which took her by surprise.

With his arms wrapped around her shoulder, he shielded her from the incoming person who was about to run up the stairs.

Lina frowned when she was almost knocked off her feet if it weren't for Benji's quick reflexes which had saved her from crashing into this new person.

'Eh!? Isn't she?' Lina realized who that person was once she had found her bearing.

Upon taking a closer look, she noticed that it was the same maid who had reassured her that she would notify Lina once Master Patrick returned to Yang Manor.

"Miss!" She squealed with her eyes wide open that she had almost crashed into the treasured Young Miss of this house.

Lina patted her shoulder to comfort the maid who looked like she was about to wail in atonement for the grave sin that she had committed.

Once she noticed that the maid had calmed herself, she smiled at her to reassure her that she was fine and unharmed.

"Uncle Pat has arrived?" She inquired before the maid could speak.

The ardent and repeated nod gave her the answer she had been looking for.

'I arrived before they could come and call me.' Lina cheered for her punctuality and then sent the maid away.

Benji had released her shoulder once he was sure that Lina wouldn't trip and fall given the clumsy person she was.

"What have you done!?" The loud noise coming from the Main Hall made them turn in its direction.

Lina and Benji shared a look with scrunched up eyebrows before they moved towards the voice which had drawn their attention.

Upon entering the Main Hall, Lina noticed that the loud and scary voice belonged to her sweet and adorable uncle which had given her a surprise she had not expected to receive in the least bit.

'Uncle Pat's voice can be this mean and menacing?' She wondered and the answer was right before her eyes.

Though Lina had only ever seen his patient and indulging side, the people who gained his wrath were privy to the terrifying Patrick Yang that managed the Yang Group without any troubles.

Butler Ping signaled his master when he observed that Lina had arrived at the Main Hall.

The immediate change in his aura, from menacing to adoring, made the two women who stood at the side to grit their teeth with such force that even Lina could hear it.

The silence that spread throughout the room after Patrick had yelled his question out made this noise to be louder than what they had expected it to be.

'What happened here!?' Lina wondered as she turned her eyes towards the Ping couple.

However, before she could receive any answer from Mrs. Ping, Patrick had reached her position.

Checking her all over, Patrick sighed when he saw that there were no visible signs of injury on her body.

"I'm fine, Uncle." She reassured him and held the man's strong arms to stop him from focusing his scrutinizing gaze on her.

'He looks as though he is searching for something…' She wondered as she looked at him.

The previous incident where Lina's brakes had been tampered with was a fright that he did not wish to receive ever again.

Hence when he saw that these women were at home and he was called back by the butler coupled with the luggage he found laying around, he had lost his patience with them as he feared that they had done something to his beloved niece.

Now that he was sure that she was fine, he let go of the fear in his heart and patted her head.

The love that was evident in his eyes for his only niece made the 'daughter' burn in another bout of jealousy.

'Why has he never looked at me with such care?' Mandy scowled in her heart as she clenched her fists to keep her composure.

She had vowed to not associate herself with the man until he realized her worth and that was what she was going to stick to.

'I will make him regret for not showering me with the love and care that is meant for me and only me!' She glowered at her father as he continued to pay attention to Lina while she was left in the corner to sulk.

"Butler Ping told me that this is your luggage, Nana." Patrick questioned his niece which succeeded in yanking Mandy back from her trip down revenge lane.

Lina realized that he had gone on berserk mode thanks to her luggage and this made her chuckle as she nodded to agree with what the Butler had told her uncle.

Patrick was once again confused when he saw her admitting that this was indeed her luggage.

He then waited for her to give him an appropriate explanation so that he might make sense of the situation but he got none from her.

"Going somewhere, Nana?" He tried to get more information out of her when he saw that she remained tight-lipped, unlike her usual blabbermouth self.

This time, Lina nodded and did not keep him in suspense any longer as she revealed why her stuff was packed and placed here in the Main Hall instead of the wardrobe where they should have been.

"I am leaving this house." She declared in a resolute voice.

When Benji heard what she had just said, he almost choked on thin air and then glared at the back of the woman who was bent on making trouble everywhere she went.

The words which left Lina's mouth fell on the people present in the Main Hall as if a huge mountain had landed on their heads.

Eyes popping out of their sockets, words stuck in their throats, and mind boggled at the words they heard.

These were just a few of the reactions that Benji had observed when he scanned the room from the corner of his eyes.

'Trouble maker!' He chided the woman who had frozen the air in the room with just a few simple words of hers.

The first to extract themselves from their daze was none other than Lucille Rong.

Though she was dancing and celebrating in her heart, she made sure to maintain a somber expression on her face as she stepped closer to where Lina stood.

"Child, every house has its problems. That is no reason to leave the house and run away from your problems." She explained with a gentle smile now appearing on her face.

However, the words that were spilling from her mouth were a stark contrast to what was going on inside her mind.

'Leave already! This is the best thing that I have heard today!' She squealed in joy but the sad and disappointed look in her eyes did not reveal her real intentions.

Mandy on the other hand was staring at her mother as though she had lost her mind due to her advancing age.

'She said she is leaving the house so why is mum trying to stop her!?' She growled and continued to glare at Lina and then at her mother.

She was worried that Lina would accept her mother's kindness and stay back as this would be a great mistake if they let this chance go.
