Benji rolled his eyes at his boss' childish actions and was glad that he would soon get a break from his daily schedule as he would also skip going to work If she wasn't going to be present there.
Looking outside the window, he decided that it was best to ignore her until they reached their first stop which was his apartment building.
Lina noticed his actions and then glanced at Derek who gave her a helpless smile before concentrating on the traffic that he was bypassing to get them to their destination.
___
Back at the entrance of the Main Hall in Yang Manor,
Patrick stood outside until the car had disappeared from their sight, only then did he step back inside the house.
Lucille and Mandy were relieved that they would be spared from looking at Lina's wretched face for the next few days.
Therefore they were in high spirits as they entered the house, following after the sturdy back of Patrick Yang.
Butler Ping and his wife were the last to enter the house and upon walking inside, they noticed their master putting his jacket on once again.
Lucille was just about to ask Patrick what he wished to have for dinner when she observed his actions.
"Are you leaving already, my Lord?" She inquired with an aggrieved tone while biting her lip.
Patrick could never get used to this endearing term that she would use for him as he always got goosebumps all over his body when she called him so.
This time was not any different as he shuddered in disgust which was so minuscule that none of them had observed this reaction of his.
Mandy glanced at her father and did not make any efforts to try and make him stay back like what her mother was doing.
Instead, she stood at the side and treated it as though she was watching a show between two people she had no connection to.
Patrick nodded in reply as he began moving towards the entrance of the Main Hall.
"Call me back when Nana gets home. Keep the house safe in my absence." He instructed his butler before making his prompt exit before either of the women tried to hold him back.
Lucille gritted her teeth as she watched him leave without even getting the chance to gaze at him to her heart's content.
Dissatisfied, she did not remain there any longer and strode away in the direction of the Outer Block where she and her daughter resided.
The orders that the butler and his wife received were clear as day.
To ensure that the house was running smoothly and to keep tabs on these women who were squatters at best in their house.
Since her mother had left and the servants had gone to prepare their dinner, Mandy plopped on the couch and fidgeted with her phone.
The events of today were still fresh in her mind and this brought another thought to her mind.
'Should I call Jeanie and tell her about Lina's travel plans?' She pondered on whether she should make the call or not.
What had happened today was like a wake-up call for her in regards to her friendship with the daughter of the Liang family.
All along, Mandy had been under the impression that she and Jeanette were close friends who could tell each other everything that was happening in their lives.
Sadly, that misunderstanding on her part was cleared in today's tea party.
'I cannot believe that Jeanie did not tell me anything about what had happened with Brother Wayne.' She sneered at the friend who had hidden such massive news from her.
Jeanette had only told her about her quarrel with Lina and the injury she sustained for standing up for her.
Yet, under no circumstances had she mentioned a single word about Wayne being present and taking her to the hospital and back home.
In the same way, she had not informed Talia about Lina and Reuben Ming dining in the same room until she had been provoked by the Queen of the socialites.
This made Mandy apprehensive and annoyed as she felt betrayed by this friend of hers who only spoke when she
felt the need to and at other times she withheld such vital information from them.
Disgruntled at her friend who was not a team player as she concealed such information from them, Mandy tossed her phone aside and gave up on the plan to let Jeanette know about Lina's latest itinerary.
However, the main reason why Mandy was this annoyed with her best friend was the fact that they had a crush on the same guy.
While she could not act upon it since she was related to Wayne, she was pissed that Jeanette could do as she pleased.
This was like a thorn in her heart which did not seem to be removed any time soon.
Nonetheless, when she recalled how brutally Wayne had turned her friend away and even clarified the rumors that they weren't dating, Mandy felt joy fill her heart.
'At least I know that Brother Wayne does not like Jeanette. This is one-sided unrequited love on Jeanette's part.' She believed and was smiling from ear to ear.
She knew that the feelings that she was harboring were wrong and if anyone were to know about it then they would scorn her for it but this was something that she had no control over.
Ever since the first time that she had seen Wayne after he had saved her and carried her over to the hospital from that club, she had fallen head over heels for him.
She had been fantasizing about him when she had no clue about who he was so how was she supposed to give up on these feelings now that she knew who he was and where he lived?
Even if she did not get his love, she was willing to only stay on the sidelines and wish him well. This was all that she desired from these feelings she hid deep within her heart.
Having decided that she would not contact Jeanette about this to teach her a lesson for concealing information from them the last time, she picked her phone up once again.
'I can only call her…' She bit her lip and dialed a number after which she held the phone close to her ear.
She clenched her fists as she waited for the other person to answer the call and gulped when the caller tune finally ended with a beep.
"Hello?" An annoyed voice was heard from the other side which made her sit up straight.
"Miss Zheng? I have some news for you." She whispered as she looked around to make sure that there was no one near her.
Once she was sure that the coast was clear, Mandy hurried to inform the other party what the news she had before they could get irritated and get mad at her.
The person on the other side of the phone was Valerie Zheng who had just completed her dinner and was heading to her bedroom when she received Mandy Rong's call.
Though she was reluctant at first, she answered the call and now was glad that she had done so.
The news that she received was pleasing to hear and she praised Mandy before hanging up and rushing towards her sister's room on the other side of the corridor from hers.
'Jie will love this!' She exclaimed as she hastened her steps.
