Chapter 305 - Quick Shots

Lina had been waiting for the bathroom door to be pushed open so that she might sit up straight however she had not observed that the man she had been waiting for was already in the room.

Reuben stood at the foot of the bed and continued to gaze at the lithe body that was rolling around in his bed.

Her white sneakers were still on and the sheer black top that she had worn had ridden higher, exposing a part of her tattooed back due to her excessive movements.

He gulped and refrained from thinking lewd thoughts that might get him in trouble further.

"Ahem ahem!" He cleared his throat which succeeded in gaining her attention.

As though she had been given a jumpscare, she shot up and sat upright in his bed.

The pillow remained in her arms as she continued to hug it and took in the view of the perfectly clothed man standing before her, gazing down at her with a smirk that gave her an ominous feeling.

"Haha… When did you come back?" She inquired while trying to appear calm but the awkward smile on her face did not help her.

The subconscious movement of her eyes which found their way to a certain part of his body made Reuben raise his eyebrows at her.

'He finished his business fairly quick… Is he alright in that regard?' She wondered and her eyes widened when she thought of something.

She had heard from her college mates that certain men were called 'quick shots' and now, Lina was beginning to associate that name with Reuben due to how quickly he had returned from the bathroom.

Her expressions, her widened eyes, and her line of sight made Reuben grit his teeth as he could make out that she was thinking of something absurd.

'I don't think that I want to know what she is thinking about at this moment!' He declared and his choice was the perfect one for both his mental health and self-esteem.

Lina was now thinking of whether this man had problems with his manhood but soon she snapped out of those thoughts when she noticed his movements.

"Why are you here?" Reuben interrogated as he climbed onto the bed.

The man dressed in dark brown silk pajamas placed his knee onto the foot of the bed and soon crawled over to where she was, at the head of the bed.

This simple action of his made Lina gulp as she watched his face getting closer to her once again.

However, his words caused her to frown as she shot him a disgruntled look.

"Am I not allowed to come over?" She grumbled as he took his seat next to her.

Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her closer until she laid in his arms.

Reuben's back rested against the headboard and Lina was positioned beside him, with her upper half of her body resting on his chest.

He placed his chin on her head and let out a chuckle when he heard her aggrieved words.

Lina blushed when she felt his chest vibrating due to the laughter that he had let out and held his hands which were now around her waist.

She could feel his steady heartbeat and this made her relax in his arms as she was now getting used to being in such close proximity to him.

"You did not come back here after work so I thought that you wouldn't be coming over today." He clarified why he had asked her that question.

Lina felt that his doubt was valid and gave him a nod as she was also at fault for not informing him about her change of plans.

'Ah! I should let him know about my schedule for the next few days!' She recalled why she had come over and turned her head to look at him.

Reuben looked into those beautiful hazel eyes which had tiny flecks of gold and smiled at her.

"I came here to let you know about something important." She revealed the reason for her sudden arrival.

The man tilted his head as he waited for her to speak further about this new thing that she wished for him to know.

"I am leaving for a few days and you won't be able to see me until I get back." She informed him and then chuckled at the wide eyes she witnessed in response.

Reuben was stunned to hear that she was leaving so he sat upright, distancing himself from her.

The sudden loss of warmth that she had been reveling in until now made Lina frown as she stared at him.

"What do you mean by a few days?" He questioned as he needed to know how many days of separation she was talking about.

They weren't at that stage where they needed to see each other every single day but he was worried nonetheless that she would be away for many days which he was unwilling to bear.

Lina pondered over it for a few seconds and then shook her head.

"Can't say for sure. Sometimes it's just one day while at times it can stretch up to two weeks." She recollected and then made known the number of days that she would stay cooped up in a hotel room to finish her work.

Reuben was confused after hearing this as his brows furrowed together, indicating that he was not satisfied with the answer that he had received.

"May I ask why you need to leave and where you are going?" He inquired cautiously as he did not want to pry on matters that she was not comfortable in revealing to him.

Though they had begun dating, he knew that it would take longer for them to be completely comfortable and honest with each other.

Therefore, he would not insist on knowing more if she refused to answer him.

Lina smiled when she observed the kind of gentleman he was.

'Ruby already knows about my identity as LY so there is no harm in letting him know why I plan on leaving.' She rationalized and gave him a positive nod.

The acceptance he got made him smile back as he sat in silence for her to speak up.

"I plan on releasing a collaboration with Steph for the Winter Collection that he has prepared." She divulged the main reason for her sudden change of plans.

Reuben was quick to figure out that this was due to her secret identity but the doubt in his mind still remained.

"Why do you need to leave for that?" He interrogated and gazed into her eyes.

Lina sighed and then decided to reveal the secret closed-door cultivation method that she used whenever she was in a bind.

"Whenever I do not have enough time to finish my work, I go into a period of seclusion to improve my concentration and efficiency." She began narrating her method of work.

Reuben's confusion decreased as he continued to listen to her explanation but the look on his face showed that he was not convinced with what he was hearing.

'What kind of a stupid method is this!?' He scoffed and glared at his Kitten who was elaborating her work process with such great enthusiasm.
