Reuben's words were due to the fact that he was still under the impression that Lina was a designer and did not have to deal with the hectic life of a CEO like him.
However, he would soon be face slapped thanks to the other secret identity that his little Kitten had yet to reveal to him.
'Ha ha… About that…' Lina's awkwardness at this moment was so high that she was worried that he would notice her strange expressions.
The look on her face was as though she had eaten something that did not sit well with her nonetheless she had to stay silent so as to not offend the host who had fed her the meal.
Since Reuben was blissfully unaware of this truth regarding her life, he rose up and sat straight on the bed while pulling her up to sit with him.
"The life of a CEO is tough and you need to be on your toes at all times, Kitten" He educated his girlfriend about the heavy burdens that a man at the top of the business ladder faced.
Lina could only nod as she was just a designer in his eyes and wished to remain the same for a little while longer.
'You just need to be good at what you do and find trustworthy people to help you manage your companies. Like I have Brother Wind and Wade.' She advised him in her heart but did not speak up about what was in her mind.
It was not yet time to let him know about everything in her life and she wished to take the time to get to know each other better.
'We can reveal our true selves to each other as we go.' She decided and then looked him in his eyes.
"Let us just say that we are different individuals and have different ways of doing things. How about that?" She inquired with her hand outstretched for a shake.
The look of anticipation in her eyes and the hand that was extended towards him made him sigh because by now he had realized that his Kitten was a stubborn one.
'She won't listen to what I have to say.' He shook his head while accepting the hand that was held out for him.
This made Lina happy as she flashed him her widest and brightest smile.
"So I will be leav-" She began but her words were cut off by the vibrations that she felt in her pants.
*Brr Brr*
Both Lina and Reuben glanced at the bulge in her pocket through which the sounds were being emitted.
The man relaxed his hold on her palm which allowed her to pull her phone out of her pocket.
'Benji has no patience!' Lina scowled as only he could be calling her at this time.
However, the name she read on the screen was a different one than what she had expected it to be.
"Ah, it's Steph!" She exclaimed and then answered the call right in front of Reuben.
'That brat seems to be calling her a lot. What is the need for him to contact her after work hours have ended?' He narrowed his eyes as he watched her converse with Stephen Jin.
The last time he had interrupted them while they were on the couch and now he had done the same when they were on his bed.
'He keeps popping up out of nowhere!' Reuben scowled at this young child who was hindering their alone time.
While Reuben was devising plans on how to keep this pesky puppy away from his Kitten, Lina was blinking blankly at what she was hearing from the same puppy.
"Those are just sample drafts, Noona, and not the actual designs!" The voice that yelled out through the phone made Lina to drop her jaw.
She had just answered the phone call and the first she heard from this young man was that the designs that she had seen in the notebook he had given to her were not the 'actual designs'.
"Then why did you give me that notebook?" She questioned incredulously as now there would be a whole new problem that would arise.
The jewelry designs that Lina had in mind when she had flipped through the notebook would now be unusable as these were not Stephen's choices for the Winter Collection.
"Noona, those are the designs but need to be polished." He added which had succeeded in confusing Lina thoroughly.
Reuben had long noticed her almost teary and flustered appearance which made him snatch the phone away from her.
"Speak properly and try to make sense when you are using your words." He chided the young man who was giving his Kitten troubles with his indecisive behavior.
Stephen was frozen in place as though he was struck by lightning when he heard the gruff voice of a man coming from the speaker of the phone.
The abrupt change from the soft voice that he had been listening to until now to this annoying voice made Stephen grit his teeth.
"I was talking to my Noona, Mr. Ming." He scoffed without worrying about the consequences of his actions of berating the man who had interrupted their conversation.
Reuben raised his brows at the brave words of the fearless young lad and turned the speaker button on so that Lina might also hear his words.
Unknown to the trick that this evil capitalist had played, Stephen took this chance and the courage that had developed within him to give Reuben Ming a piece of his mind.
"I do not know what voodoo you've used to trick her into dating you but let me tell you this…" He sneered and then took a deep breath to utter his next words.
Lina was stunned to hear the loud and confident words coming out of the meek and soft puppy's mouth.
This made her chuckle but under Reuben's stern gaze, she covered her mouth with her palm to muffle the sounds of her cheery giggle.
'My puppy is so cute!' She exclaimed and then waited for his next words which were laced with care and protectiveness that had touched her heart.
"Even if you are the Emperor of this city, I will not let you harm my Noona or treat her wrong in any way possible. You hear that!?" He yelled out as this was his chance to show Reuben that his Noona was not alone.
'Not enough that I have to face those two idiots now I have him on my tail as well?' Reuben pitied himself that he had to go through so many people to get to his Kitten.
But he was willing to do it all if it meant that he could spend time with her like he was doing at this present moment.
However, how could he give that child the satisfaction of succeeding in what he had planned to do?
Hence Reuben smirked as he winked at his Kitten and then brought the phone close to his ear before speaking into it.
"You heard how I am being treated, Kitten? Like a creep who would resort to such means to get to you." He grumbled in an aggrieved voice which turned the two people who were the audience to his impromptu play freeze in their places.
