Chapter 327 - Has Ghosted Me

"You are spoiling my assistant, Lina." Anthony Shen chided her as he entered the office where the three people were hanging out.

The scene that he had walked in on made his eyes roll at the children that he was made to deal with on a daily basis.

Lina and Leon were playing online games on their mobiles while the only person who was doing some actual work in the room had headphones on to avoid being disturbed by the ruckus the other two were creating.

Manager Anthony Shen had just come out of a virtual meeting with a correspondent from a different company when he had called for his assistant.

However, even after yelling out Leon's name, no one entered his office.

This made the man venture outside only to find that the assistant's assigned seat was empty.

Upon inquiring with his neighboring employees, the people pointed their fingers towards Lina's office which was the reason why he was here right now.

The two who had been playing games had put their phones away and were shooting him apologetic glances as they tried to win him over.

Benji sat in silence as he had no part in the mischief that these two had taken part in.

Anthony sighed and then pointed at the door wordlessly commanding the assistant to exit this office and enter the one where he had work lined up for him.

Lina mouthed the word 'Sorry' to Anthony when he shot her one last disapproving glimpse before leaving the room.

The pouting woman was left alone in the room with her assistant who was gloating at her for getting into trouble.

This made her lean in his direction only to find that Benji was not working but instead was in a chatroom, conversing with someone online.

The suspicious man did not allow Lina to read anything that was written on the screen and immediately shut the laptop after she had taken a peek at what he was doing.

"This is the work you are doing?" She scowled as she clicked her tongue in disapproval of his actions.

But soon the disapproval turned into skepticism as she narrowed her eyes to gauge why he had shut the laptop in such a hasty manner.

"What are you hiding from me?" She interrogated as she scooted closer to him.

Benji was neither nervous nor did he appear to be apprehensive about her sudden curiosity.

"I was trying to contact Young Master." He replied and scoffed at her for doubting him.

Being reminded of her older brother, Lina's eyes narrowed even further as she waited for him to blurt everything out.

"He… Is away at the moment and cannot be contacted." He muttered and for the first time broke their eye contact.

Unfortunately, Lina had not caught this sneaky and defensive move that he had made since she was too busy sulking.

'I don't want him to come back any more! He has ghosted me long enough!' She glowered and huffed in anger.

After that torturous conversation she had with Tristan, her brother's best friend, no matter how many times she tried to contact either her brother or Tristan, none of them answered her call.

Eventually, the young lady had given up on trying to contact her brother and had decided that even if he were to appear before her, she would not give him a second glance.

"Oh…" She hummed and then shrugged her shoulders indicating that she did not care any longer about the information that he had.

This reaction that Benji had not expected resulted in frown lines appearing on his forehead.

He knew that his Young Master had been elusive for the past few days but he did not know what had taken place between the siblings that elicited such a lukewarm reaction from her.

"It is almost noon. Let's go meet Stephen." Lina announced as she rose from her seat.

The conversation had come to such an abrupt end that Benji did not know whether he should be relieved or anxious about it.

As Lina picked up her purse, he picked up his laptop and Steph's notebook which he had brought along in the morning which they had to return to the rightful owner now.

The pair soon left the office after Benji locked the door and under the watchful eye of the people in their department, they made their way to the elevator.

The tranquility of the closed metallic space was broken when Lina remembered something that was absolutely necessary for her.

"Where is my luggage!?" She yelled out in trepidation when she realized that Benji had not brought it along when they were coming to the office this morning.

Benji took a few seconds to snap out of the shock that he received after hearing her worried shouts, following which he blinked at her as though she had the brains of a child.

"Now you remember that you have luggage to carry?" He scowled at her without restraining his mocking tone.

Just as Lina was about to give him a fitting reply, the doors of the elevator opened up at the floor where Stephen worked.

"Why are you moping around these days?" She whispered her question as she walked next to him.

Supervisor Tim was the first person to notice their presence and he rushed in their direction to greet them.

"Miss Lina, Boss has asked me to take you to his room. He will be arriving at any moment now." He explained while guiding them in the direction of Stephen's workspace.

The supervisor had been tasked with making sure that Lina was let into Stephen's office without any troubles in case she arrived before he did.

Lina had no problems in following the arrangements that her puppy had made for her.

As she walked after the man who was leading them, Benji leaned closer to her ear to whisper his response to the taunt that she had given to him.

"While you were having fun with that guy, I sent your luggage over to the hotel room that I have reserved for you." He sneered right into her ear and was swift to move away.

Lina's glare turned to a blush when she noticed where his eyes were aimed at.

Her hands were quick to cover up the bite mark on her neck which was at the center of his attention.

Benji glimpsed at the bite mark for a couple of seconds before looking away with a creeped out expression that had materialized on his face.

The blush that had just taken over her face reverted to the burning glare when she saw the man next to her shuddering in disgust as he rubbed his arms which had goosebumps all over them.

'Stupid single dog is acting all high and mighty now!' Gritting her teeth, she cursed him out in her heart.

Supervisor Tim turned around and the scene that he had witnessed was the assistant who squirmed around as though a snake had crawled into his pants and the boss who was gnashing her teeth while glaring at him.

'Miss Lina and her assistant are strange…' He remarked and decided that it was best to leave them to their devices.

"Please take your seat, Boss will be arriving soon." He bowed and hurried out of the room, leaving them stunned and confused as they wondered why he had run away from them.
