Chapter 339 - Roadblock

Lina glanced up at her boyfriend with her brows raised in question.

'Lunch with me or her?' She smiled at the man who suddenly felt shivers running down his spine.

Mathew was staring at Lina with starry eyes when he saw how she had made the Emperor fear for his life with just a simple glance and a mild smile.

"What is it, Ruby?" Lina rubbed his arm affectionately as she continued to smile at him.

'I would have liked it better if you were not just putting up a show for this woman.' Reuben leered at his Kitten who was taking advantage of the situation.

Right now, Lina was killing two birds with one stone here.

First, she was showing Talia that there was sufficient affection between herself and Reuben and the second was to gauge her boyfriend's reaction.

'Answer her.' She commanded with her eyes which focused on his face.

'Kitten is so demanding... But I like it!' He smirked at her but soon went back to his usual indifferent gaze.

Reuben had no issues with what his Kitten wanted from her as this was also what he wished for.

Therefore, he did not hesitate to turn towards the other woman who should not be inside his company in the first place.

"I'll pass as I have better things to do." He shot her proposal down without giving her any face.

Talia's smile strained but she did not let it disappear.

"Is it because you have another meeting soon?" She inquired as her voice softened.

He was finally speaking to her so the joy in her heart was overwhelming the sadness that she had been rejected.

This was a simple case of obsession that made her imagine everything was fine as long as he looked at her and spoke two words to her.

"I have plans." Reuben answered which was a rare occurrence as he would usually ignore her very existence.

Neither did he accept nor deny her speculation which made her assume that she was right.

Mathew was about to answer on his behalf when he saw that his efforts were not needed.

Talia bit her lip and nodded at the man who was so kind as to give her a proper explanation.

'She is misunderstanding things!' Lina scowled after noticing the lovestruck yet depressed expression on her face.

She was being rejected but she was still smiling and gazing at the man with sparkling eyes.

This was when Lina realized that Talia's interest in Reuben was much more than what she had initially thought it would be.

'This is getting harder than I had imagined.' She sighed and thought of what to do next.

Reuben had had enough of this interaction that he was not interested in, so he nodded at her and decided to move along.

"Come, Kitten. We should get going now." He urged the woman who was still holding his arm.

Lina nodded as well and turned to smile at Talia one last time before they left.

"Great to see you here, Miss Zheng. Looks like we will keep meeting each other." She chirped and winked at the other woman.

Disgusted as she was, Talia could only nod in reply as she watched the group of four pass her by.

"Ruby, can we eat shrimp for lunch? I am craving for seafood." Lina's fading words reached her ears as they continued to walk away from her.

This made the heiress turn around and glare at the back of the woman next to her beloved.

'So his 'plans' were with this disgusting woman?' Talia scowled and gritted her teeth.

She had set aside her selfish desire in order to not interfere with his work but as it turned out, the important thing he had to do was to have a meal with that wretched woman.

'Looks like Lina Yang needs to be taught a proper lesson.' She surmised and gripped the handle of her handbag tight in her hands.

The receptionist who had watched the entire episode lowered her head to avoid the dangerous aura that was surrounding this woman.

'Time to reveal her true colors to Brother Reuben before he falls too deep into her traps.' Talia was determined and she did not look back.

She was still stuck on the idea that Lina had trapped him and this was the only reason why Reuben was close to her.

She chided her heart which wanted to take one last glimpse at her loved one as she began striding towards the entrance of the building to make her exit.

She knew that if she turned now, she would come in contact with Lina's smug face which was occupying the position next to Reuben which was rightfully hers.

'I will only see him again after I expose Lina's true face before the world!' She vowed as her feet stepped outside the building.

Once she was outside, she pulled her phone out and dialed a number as she glanced around to find the same security guard who had her car keys.

The man noticed her and came rushing to inform her that he would bring the car around.

Talia nodded and placed the phone to her ear, listening to the music that was playing.

*Beep*

"Hello, Jie? How was the meeting with Brother Reuben? He fell for you at first sight?" An excited voice was heard after the call was connected.

Talia did not wish to snarl at her sister when she was out on the road with many eyes watching her.

Hence she pressed her temple and shut her eyes for a moment as she waited for Valerie to finish her enthusiastic ramblings.

The little sister realized that she had not received a single answer which made her train of queries come to a halt.

'Finally!' Talia scoffed and opened the eyes which were blazing with fury and indignation.

"Make preparations. We commence our plan tonight." She ordered her right-hand person, the one who did all of her dirty deeds.

Valerie was stunned for a second before she came back to her senses.

"But Jie… You wanted to wait. What's wrong?" She prodded to know why there was a sudden change in plans.

Talia's smirk faded when she saw that the security guard had brought her car over.

She did not answer her sister and got into the car not before she heavily tipped the guard who bowed in gratitude and left.

Once he had disappeared, Talia activated the BlueTooth setting and began driving as she continued her conversation.

"Plans have changed. I want everyone to know that Lina Yang is a woman of low morals and ethics." She announced as an evil grin appeared on her face.

'The entire city should know the kind of woman she is. The only thing she deserves is mockery and hatred.' She exclaimed and was sure to make this a reality pretty soon.

If she was willing to wait for her loved one all this while then she was willing to dirty her hands to keep him safe until she got him to stay by her side.

Any roadblock in her path did not deserve to exist.

She had cleared such hurdles in the past and she was not afraid to do the same this time as well.
