Chapter 172 - Demon suppression (2)

(What the hell have I summoned..)

Completely in awe of the demons destructive ability Melisha couldn't help shudder in fear as it had just completely disintegrated the two instructeres that had given her so much trouble while she was preoccupied with the summoning ritual.

"Let's mov-"

"DON'T COMMAND ME, MORTAL."

Bringing down its full presence upon a single angel, Melisha couldn't help but fall on her knees as her mind shoot down from the released bloodl.u.s.t.

"GOOD."

Seeing how the puny angel reacted to its focused attention the demon seemed to smile before it focused its attention towards the dust cloud that was created by the spell it had released.

"IT SEEMS I HAVE A OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN OF WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED IN THE EONS WHILE I WAS LOCKED AWAY, LEAVE ME FOR THE MOMENT."

Not taking a no for an answer the demon send away Melisha as a wind spell cleared the dust away.

"SO A CHILD OF MAN AND A CHILD OF NATURE, WHO HAS BARELY BREACHED THE SHROUD. COME AT ME LIKE YOU WANT, I SHALL TEACH YOU WHAT TRUE POWER IS."

Having turned its attention towards Lilly and Victor that stood opposing it, the mere mortals couldn't help but shudder, but that didn't change what they needed to do.

"... I'm going all out."

Assessing her opponent Lilly for the first time laid her eyes on the strange creature, deciding to go all out and hold nothing back from the get go. Seeing a nod from Victor as he started constructing a mana gathering so he could more quickly from spells, Lilly did something similar. Taking a deep breath as she closed her eyes, the grand elder opened her golden eyes which shone considerably more than just a second before.

"I can't keep this up for long.. Let's get this gone."

".. Agreed."

Taking a offensive formation while the demon only idly 'looked' by, it seemed to simply allow them to prepare, something Lilly and Victor were quite happy to take advantage of.

"Spell 0204: Sanctuary."

While a holy presence spread out around Lilly and Victor they both prepared offensive spells.

"Blessing of wind, blessing of earth, blessing of fire."

"Spell 0209: Purge."

Lilly used her elemental affinity with nature to form spheres of earth, fire and wind respectively, while Victor formed an ominously dense mana singularity that he collapsed towards the demon.

"FASCINATING."

In response the demon simply waved its 'hand' towards the spells as they had made their way towards it, corrupting the surrounding mana.

"IMMOLATION."

Calling out as its spell took into effect, Lilly's and Victor's spells seemed to disappear as they fell to corruption, being turned into more of the corrupted presence that spread around the demon.

"Shit."

Seeing how they had only empowered the demon with their spells, Lilly couldn't help curse.

"Yeah about that…"

Looking at each other for a moment, Lilly and Victor both popped a smile, they knew it was going to be like this.

"Spell: 0209: Purge!"

"Blessing of wind!"

Combining their spell's effects Lilly manipulated the air around the demon, fueling the mana induced explosion and creating a blast which damaged most of the buildings around the demon. As the dust settled a void spread out where the demon was then it reappeared, emerging more out of the event horizon than it ever had been before. Countless eyes gleaming to the brim with intelligence and steadfast confidence examine every millimeter of Victor and Lilly as if looking towards something it completely understands but not fully comprehend. Its skin (If that could even be considered the appropriate therm.) looked like a mix of tar, crude oil and magnetized ferrofluid that was constantly shifting in and out of fase with reality. The 'skin' was coloured in all colours of the rainbow, as it reflected and refracted the ambient moonlight it almost looked devine, if not for the malignant and sickening presence the mere sight of it brought anyone that looked at it. While the demons body were not entirely out from behind the event horizon, its 'head' and 'upper body' spread enough corruption to make both mortals facing it sick to their stomach. Reaching out a 'hand' from the event horizon the demon leaked some sort of liquid out, creating a shifting magic circle.

"That can't be good…"

As the demon had not until that point expressed any visual effort to squish them, the fact they it now created a magic formation had Lilly extremely worried.

"COME FORTH."

Holding its 'hand' over the magic formation, the demon summoned more of its kind, which slowly crawled into the reality. While both Lilly and Victor could feel that the summoned creatures were somehow lesser, they were not to be taken lightly.

"SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO, MORTALS. DO NOT FAIL TO ENTERTAIN ME."

"... Why do I feel its playing with us?"

Seeing the formless creatures slowly form into amalgamations of tentacles, eyes and razor sharp teeth, Victor couldn't help but feel that they had entered some sort of colosseum, all for the entertainment of the demon.

"That's because it is… But that also works out for us, so let's put on a grand display."

---

Meanwhile Melisha made her way back towards Dax, while the ritual should not have left him alive the angel didn't want to take chances, even if it was outside the scope of her  orders she had been given by her master. Finding him to still be unconscious in the middle of the now inactive ritual formation, Melisha blomed a smile as she formed a dagger made of golden crystals in her hand. Calmly walking towards the qiton, Melisha suddenly had a really bad promotion fall over her, making the 3 winged angel pay more attention to her surroundings.

"Shit!-"

Noticing the surrounding presences in the last split second, Melisha formed another golden crystal dagger, then dodged to the side while channeling mana into the ground. As a wall of highly compressed stone formed, then was struck with a hail of bullets. Having located her attackers when they fired Melisha bloomed a slight smile as she tapped ground once more, sending spears of rock hurling towards their last known locations. To make sure she had at least incapacitated her opponents the angel then smashed her defensive wall, sending a shotgun blast of rockshards after the rock spears.

"Fu!-"

"Hello!~"

With a large bloodthirsty smile Lux had suddenly appeared right in front of the angel, which was understandably quite fl.u.s.tered by that. Seeing that her opponent was also armed with dual knives as she avoided a hastily constructed crystal shard, Lux willingly stepped into the angel's strike range as her pupils expanded to their limit.

(What!?)

Stepping backwards out of slight panic Melisha started forming a magic formation, but Lux once more betrayed the angel's expectations as she dodged by collapsing her stance. The reason for that revealed itself instantly, as Terra which was perched on a building behind them took aim and the now clear target.

"KU!-"

Forced to abandon her offensive spell, Melisha formed a defensive spell which only just defended against the hail of bullets before Lux charged into her range once more.

(So that's their plan!? Don't f.u.c.k with me!)

Seeing how she couldn't take time to overwhelm the closer enemy with spells due to how they almost perfectly covered for each other. That wouldn't normally be a problem for the angel, but the fact that she still had to uphold and maintain the gigantic shield formation surrounding the academy which still was under effect. Seeing the angel hesitate as her movements slowed down slightly Lux's smile widened as she slashed towards her neck, further pushing the angel back as she started heckling as to break her concentration.

"I heard angels were some sort of mighty warriors!? What's this, can't handle a little CQC!?"

Gashing Melisha with shallow cuts over most of her upper body, Lux continued her ruthless attack and forced the angel to once more open the distance.

"Oh no you don't."

Carefully observing the angel Terra knew exactly what she was going to do, squeezing the trigger right as Lux gave her space to. Scoring only strafing hits Terra was still quite satisfied as she relocated once the opportunity arrived, stopping in place and letting of more shorts once Melisha tried to open up the range once more.

(F.U.C.K!)

Losing more and more blood from gazing hit and slashes Melisha could feel she was starting  to become lightheaded, feeling her grip of the spells she was employ were slowly slipping.

(I need to ascend! Just for a second, I need to open the distance without drawing long range attack!)

Continuing to step backwards Melisha injected small amounts of mana into the ground, forming a compound spell formation as part of a final, desperate trump card. Seeing how her opponent slightly switched her attitude, Lux doubled her awareness on the surroundings but failed to see what was happening as she could not sense mana, and Terra was too far away to see what was happening.

(NOW!)

Making sure it didn't show on her face, Melisha activated the spell she had spent the last 5 minutes carefully constructing. Out of nowhere a thin spike made of rock short up from the ground, aiming perfectly at Lux's head the second she had just put the weight on a single leg and where at her most vulnerable. However the angel had underestimated her opponent, and the galactic marine that appears younger than herself in reality had several times her own lifetime's fighting experience, she only need a fraction of an second to deal with such an attack. Struggling slightly in her position against the attack, Lux wavered for a second before she narrowly avoided the rock spike, but it was just the space she needed.

(DIE!)

Falling back as she kept out of sight from Terra, Melisha formed the special magic formation around her wings which would allow her to channel mana into offensive and defensive spells with a increase in magnitude.

"HA!"

Feeling the extreme power challenging through her body, a large smile crept onto Melisha's face as she failed to keep watch on her surroundings.

"Eh?!-"

Feeling a hand placed on her back Melisha realized her mistake, her face froze in shock the 3 winged angel's entire being was gripped with pain as one of her wings were brutally ripped out its socket.

"I told you, you should have killed me."

Before the angel could react, Dax ripped out a second of her wings as he kicked the back of her knee. Without any expression on his face the qiton shattered her neck, ending the life of the 3 winged angel which had escaped his wrath once.

"Good work, let's clean up the rest."
