Chapter 30 The World Collapsed

Seeing that Joey turned his head away, Lois didn't argue with him any more. She never quarreled with him in front of the child. It was the first time that she had quarreled with him in front of their child today.

Maggie saw that the two of them had changed from whispers to hostility. She seemed to understand, but it seemed that she didn't.

Maggie looked at Joey, who turned his head away, and then she looked at Lois, who looked helpless. She lowered her head in silence.

In her memory, her mother never quarreled with her father. She always said that her father was a good father, but he was just very busy and tired.

At this moment, her previous impression was overturned in her heart. Perhaps her father was not a good father, and it was not just because he was busy. Otherwise, why did her mother have such a helpless expression?

Noticing Maggie's gaze, Lois smiled gently and asked, "does Maggie like to live with your father or mother?"

Maggie was in a daze when she heard this question, and then lowered her head to think.

After a while, the little girl raised her head and asked carefully, "I love mom, will you be with me forever?"

Lois nodded excitedly. She couldn't restrain her excitement and said, "of course!"

Maggie nodded, "then I'll live with my father."

For a moment, all the surging joy faded away like the tide, and then came the yellow sand all over the ground in reality.

The ecstasy in Lois's eyes slowly turned into disbelief and unacceptable. She wanted to escape, but she was afraid of losing it.

Finally she asked, "why?"

Why don't you want to live with me? Don't you like me?

Lois felt that the whole world was collapsing and overturning. At the same time, Joey's words came to her mind again, "Maggie is about to forget you.".

Maggie didn't notice that Lois was about to lose control of her emotions. She crawled into her mother's arms and acted like a spoiled child, "Maggie loves Mommy. Mommy and Maggie can just follow Daddy!"

Hearing the loud noise, Lois listened to the coquettish voice in her arms and slowly suppressed her negative emotions. She patted on the back of Maggie and said, "Maggie, good girl..."

Lois closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face. She kept patting Maggie on the back. When she opened her eyes again, her eyes had returned to clear. The grief was no longer there, but a little gloom.

When Lois asked this question, Joey regretted taking the child to see her. When he saw that Maggie bowed her head and was deep in thought, he was so nervous that his palms were sweating.

He tried to think about whether he had done anything to make Maggie moved to give up his mother. The answer was self-evident.

But when the little girl spoke out her will, he suddenly felt moved. He was really moved. No matter whether he had become a good father or not, the kinship could not be easily erased. Although Maggie was only a child, she knew that he was her father, the family member with the same bloodline in her life.

Joey was deeply touched by Maggie's words, but he was also a little angry with Lois. A child at such a young age knew how to protect her family, but why couldn't a person at the age of more than 20 think about that!

Joey didn't know at this time. In the near future, he finally understood that the blood relationship was not less than the love of five years. Without Lois, he was worse than a stranger in Maggie's eyes.

Lois and Maggie had been making out for a long time before Joey proposed to leave.

Lois's hand, which was pinching Maggie's face, trembled slightly. She grinned hard and begged, "stay a

little longer."

Joey frowned and looked at his watch. "It's already over ten o'clock. I have a meeting later."

Lois understood and smiled. He should be anxious as he was busy with the company's affairs.

"Leave Maggie here. When you finish your work in the afternoon..."

Maggie is not only yours!

Joey glanced at Lois with a sneer and saw her faint voice as he wished.

Joey tidied up the small red flowers scattered on the bed and put them into the middle of Maggie's schoolbag. Then he put her clothes into her schoolbag randomly and reached out his hand to catch Maggie.

Maggie tried to hide from him, "I want to take care of my mother here!"

With a smile at the corners of his mouth, Joey patiently coaxed, "Maggie, children will be infected with bacteria in the hospital. Mom is already sick, and dad can't let Maggie get sick too."

"I'm not afraid! I want to be with mom! " The little girl insisted.

Joey had to play his trump card, "Maggie, if you stay here, you will affect your mom rest. Her illness will be more serious!"

Lois listened to Joey said patiently. It was hard for her to imagine that he would have such a side. If he was so gentle to the child, she wouldn't have to worry so much.

She thought of Sally again. She looked up at Joey. It was just a revenge. Why was he so serious? "Is it necessary? She is also your child! "

Joey looked at Lois coldly and said, "she is also your child! You'd better think it over! "

Joey was talking about the divorce, but in Lois's ears, he was threatening her openly.

In the end, Maggie was taken away by Joey. The little girl kicked her shins and cried in his arms endlessly, shouting to be with her mother.

Lois chased after Joey, but she didn't dare to stop him. She could only watch him take her child away and drive away from the hospital.

Lois didn't come to herself until the car disappeared in front of her.

Lois went back to the ward with weak steps. She sat on the bed blankly. It was her fault. It was her wishful thinking to marry Joey. Why did he make things difficult for her child!

Lois was on a drip in the afternoon, but couldn't read the documents in her hand.

When Tania came to visit Lois in the evening, she saw that Lois was depressed and didn't want to talk more.

Looking at the bandage on her left hand, Tania asked, "what's wrong with your hand?"

Lois put down the documents in her hands and said, "I was too excited to see Maggie today."

Tania looked at Lois in surprise, "did you see Maggie today?"

"Yes."

Tania didn't notice that Lois didn't want to say anything more. She sat on the nearby chair and smiled, "this little girl is awesome! I can't believe that he has a way to ask for Joey! "

Lois looked up at Tania. Seeing her confused look, Tania poked her forehead and said angrily, "you're out of your mind! Do you think that Joey would be kind enough to bring the child to see you? "

Lois's eyes lit up. She felt that her heart had come back to life. She knew that Joey wouldn't be so kind. It must be Maggie who insisted on coming!

Tania rolled her eyes and didn't forget to fan her, "I've told you that the child also has the share of Joey. It's impossible for him to see the child suffer. It's the instinct of every parent!"

Lois was so happy that she didn't take Tania's words seriously. But out of gratitude, she nodded fiercely.

After the two finished their meal, Tania stood up and said goodbye. Lois put the unfinished contract on the pillow and planned to make it tomorrow.

She picked up her phone and dialed Joey's number, waiting for the answer nervously.
