“How did you do that, Adams?”
After successfully evading another disaster, Vivian and the others followed Adams down the mountain. They asked in disbelief when they saw the Giant Dragon Lice that was frozen in ice along the way.
Adams scratched his head and said, “This is just a special ability of the Winter Sword. What’s there to be surprised about?”
Vivian shook her head and said, “Nonsense! I know how powerful the Winter Sword can be. It’s definitely impossible for it to produce such terrifying power unless it’s in the hands of a cultivator. An S-rank weapon has an enhancement effect on a cultivator’s abilities. Perhaps it will be able to cause an attack of this extent!”
“So it’s the enhancement effect!” Adams exclaimed as realisation dawned on him.
When he rushed back to the bottom of the mountain, he saw that the giant lice had already reached the top of the mountain. Adams did not have time to think too much. In order to open a path to the top of the mountain, he had used the first move of the Nine Swords of Flying Star. He did not expect that the ice would freeze a path all the way from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain and save everyone by accident.
However, even with the enhancement from the S-rank weapon, the power of the Nine Swords of Flying Star was evident. This made Adams even more determined to practise the Nine Swords of Flying Star to its best.
“What did you say?” Vivian couldn’t help but ask after hearing Adams’ murmur.
Adams resignedly let out a sigh and said, “Alright, I’ll tell you. I’m already a cultivator. However, I hope that you can help me keep this a secret and not tell anyone else!”
“What?!”
Vivian halted in her tracks and stared at Adams in shock.
The others were also stunned. Garen, who was carrying a seriously injured person on his back, even threw the injured person off due to excitement.
The wounded man who fell to the ground also forgot to cry out in pain. Lying on the ground, he stared at Adams in a daze.
Cultivators were an existence that everyone yearned to be!
The nobles hoped to become cultivators to obtain more resources. The commoners also hoped to become cultivators so as to change their fate to reach the pinnacle of their lives.
Adams had completed the transformation from an ordinary person to a cultivator in half a day. Everybody felt that it was unrealistic, as if they were in a dream!
Glancing at the people who looked like wooden sculptures, Adams repeated himself, “You didn’t hear wrongly. I was lucky enough to receive the legacy of a level-nine warrior and become a cultivator!”
Vivian’s pupils abruptly constricted, and her heartbeat became extremely slow. She opened her mouth with difficulty, but no words came out.
It was already extremely difficult for humans to become cultivators in general and it was even more difficult for them to advance in levels.
The reason why the Kevin Family was able to become aristocrats that guarded a city was because they had a level-six mage among their ancestors. Hence, they were conferred the title by the Empire.
Level-nine cultivators were all supreme existences in the empire. They had power and resources equivalent to emperors, and these privileges would be passed down for generations!
Vivian couldn’t help but remind him, “Adams, if you obtained the legacy of a level-nine warrior, as long as you report it to the Empire, you can receive the rights and resources of a level-nine warrior. What’s there to hide?”
Adams was very tempted when he heard this, but in order to ensure that his Nine Swords of Flying Star could get stronger, he could only suppress his urge and say, “The Master who helped me become a Cultivator died when the human race occupied the Zerg planet and I simply received his legacy. Right now, I can’t be sure if the Empire will acknowledge a legacy from so long ago. Furthermore, that Master has many enemies, and the families of his enemies continue to exist. It will be very dangerous if they know of my existence!”
Everyone shuddered when they heard this. The enemy of a level-nine warrior would definitely be a level-nine cultivator. If such a family still existed, they would definitely be a prominent figure in the Empire and their strength could even rival the royal family. What was even more terrifying was that the level-nine warrior had more than one enemy.
At the thought that Adams had accepted the legacy of a rank-nine warrior, and that there was a huge possibility that he would become the enemy of more than half of the Empire, everyone felt both envy and sympathy for him!
Vivian was the first to snap out of it. After casting a glance at Garen and the others, she turned to Adams and said in a solemn voice, “You saved my life, and even saved us more than once. From now on, I will never betray you. I, Vivian, swear on the honor of the Kevin Family!”
Seeing that Vivian had used her own family to make a vow, Garen immediately declared, “Big Brother, I don’t have a family like Miss Vivian’s, but I know how to repay the kindness I received. I’m willing to serve you from now on, and I’ll never betray you!”
The rest of them also said, “We are willing to serve Big Brother Adams. We will never betray you!”
Adams was moved by their promise and said with a nod, “I believe you guys!”
All of a sudden, Vivian had an idea. She walked up to Adams and said, “Adams, you’re already a cultivator now, and you have so many enemies. In the future, you’ll definitely need a force that serves you. Since everyone is so loyal to you, if you can groom them more, they’ll definitely be a great help to you in the future!”
Adams nodded and said to all of them, “I also promise that all of you will become cultivators. As long as we work together, we will definitely be able to build a safe and prosperous homeland in the future!”
“Work as one!” Everyone chorused loudly in excitement.
Standing at the side, Vivian silently gazed at Adams with an elated expression on her face. She respected powerful beings, and she also admired people who had the qualities of a leader. In her heart, Adams was the most perfect leader!
Adams continued to lead everyone towards the base. With a mainstay, everyone chatted and laughed along the way, discussing what name to name this team led by Adams. They no longer had the fear and sense of danger from being in the Zerg territory.
Pushing open the gate of the base, Adams then made an inviting gesture towards all of them as he said, “We’re here! Let’s talk about the name later. Go on in to spruce yourselves up and get your wounds treated!”
“Wow! This is the legendary castle!”
“It’s spectacular. There’s actually such a great place to stay over here!”
Everyone who walked into the base gasped.
Vivian was also looking around in surprise. The military base in front of her was much more magnificent than her family’s. She admired Adams’ luck more and more. It was truly incredulous!
Adams said to the others, “There are a few warehouses here and the collections inside are quite abundant. However, there is no food here. You can go and take a look for yourselves. Who knows, you might find the materials you need. You can stay here for now. I will leave enough food for you guys. Then, I’ll continue exploring!”
Garen and the others knew that they would be a burden to Adams if they followed him, so they agreed.
Only Vivian volunteered, “I’ll go with you! Don’t worry, I won’t hold you back. I just want to gather more supplies with you. After all, I have a huge family behind me. Some things that I want can only be exchanged with supplies!”
Adams nodded in agreement to Vivian’s request, and asked with a curious expression, “Oh? What do you want from your family? I’ll see if I can help you!”
“Freedom!” Vivian said firmly.
