On March 3, 1960, "031" submarine began drawing setting out; on April 1, 1960, the commencement order for the construction of "031" submarine was officially issued, and the fortification number in the plant was "c-601".
In May, in order to improve the professional technical level of construction personnel, the shipyard held professional training courses on machining, welding, heat treatment, installation, commissioning and test of special instruments and equipment, focusing on the processing and welding of ak-25 and ak-27 steel plates shipped from Xiong Guo and the use of stainless steel welding wires, and invited Xiong Guo experts to carry out practical technical training according to the requirements Give lectures and impart experience in types of work and majors.
Originally, the two countries were ready to make a big fight. As a result, the two countries had a bad relationship, Xiong Guo withdrew the experts, and the follow-up materials were not transported.
In this case, Bincheng shipyard carried forward the fighting spirit and finally completed the trial production of the first submarine through exploration. Originally, it planned to build two of the first batch of imitation submarines, and then arranged to build four during the "second five year plan" and "third five year plan" During the planned period, 36 ships were built. However, due to technical constraints and the lack of development of supporting submarine launched ballistic missiles at that time, no follow-up ships were built, only one was built.

In this case, the 031 submarine began to refit.
In the first step, three Soviet made cm-60 underwater missile launchers on the boat were changed to two domestic designed "julang-1" underwater missile launchers.

It crosses the technical level of the first generation compressed air launching device and gas launching device of submarine missile. The launch of ballistic missiles is a complex process. If this is not accurate enough, the error of the missile in the past may be thousands of meters.
On land, the location of the launch site is determined. Even for mobile launch, a certain launch position is found in advance, and the coordinates are known.
But the sea is different.
Submarines sail in the sea and launch missiles as needed at any time. If they can't know their position accurately, the accuracy of launching missiles is not high enough.

Besides submarines, fighters and missiles all need this advanced technology.
Inertial navigation system is a navigation parameter calculation system with gyroscope and accelerometer as sensitive devices. The system establishes the navigation coordinate system according to the output of gyroscope, and calculates the speed and position of carrier in the navigation coordinate system according to the output of accelerometer.
Among them, this gyro is of great importance. The smaller the resistance on the gyro, the better.
The original ball bearing gyroscope has a drift rate of (L-2) ° / h, which is very poor. The original V-2 rocket is such a guidance system, with a range of only a few hundred kilometers, and the error may be more than ten kilometers.
After that, the precision of air, liquid and magnetic levitation gyroscopes developed by overcoming the inertial instrument support technology can reach 0.001 ° / h.
At the current level of the Han Dynasty, liquid floating gyroscopes and Long March rockets are used. Although the accuracy is not low, the accumulated error is still considerable. If the submarine patrols underwater for half a month, it can not meet the needs of launching missiles.
This time, they went out for half a month, then came back to readjust the gyro and were also discussing a solution.
What's the solution? Laser gyro, of course.
In 1960, the laser gyro was successfully developed for the first time. In the western world, this gyro is widely used for inertial navigation. Western fighters, missiles, etc. all use this gyro.
However, the Han country has no technical reserves.
What should I do? Of course, I found it in the weapon data cemetery! This difficulty is not only for submarines, missiles and aircraft.
