After returning to the resting area in the back of the stadium, Yalli and Ava rested on their chairs while Elijah sighed to himself.
"26.000, I'm starting to get the hang of it." Picking a half-eaten apple out of his phone, his finger touched the fruit slowly reverted to before being bitten.
Hearing all the noise crowd as the next match was about to start, he knew it was Yawen's team stepping on the stage. This time the battle has gone without any surprises, with Aina as a support casting healing and buff spells on her team and Cassie's control over the stage with her mastery of the laws of void which made her form force fields across the stage to decrease the power of the enemy attacks.
"It won't be that easy if you want to win." The enemy team captain after being driven to the corner spat a bloody arrow that passed through both Yawen and Cassie and was about to hit Elliot when the latter's eyes turned black and an invisible layer of energy was formed on the surface of his skin that absorbed all the energy on that arrow.
"Slurp..." Satisfied with the meal, Elliot summoned a blood-red hammer and smashed down on the man's head. He didn't use much strength so the man would only sleep for a year, nothing much for a cultivator with a few thousand years of age.
Elijah didn't have any reason to be surprised with the rest of the battle and went with his team to the platforms to watch the celestial battles. From the initial six, three had been eliminated yesterday and today the number of battles would be the same. On the stage Elijah saw two unfamiliar people step forward.
On one side was a short black-haired man, his eyes were the say, grayish-black pupils of every member of the void clan while the aura he gave off was non-existent. But Elijah felt that this similarly small body if compared to an ordinary member of the void clan seemed to be hidden great power. Only at that moment did Yalli noticed the expression Elijah and inclined her body in order to speak,.
"That tenth-step void clansmen is part of the royal family, my cousin Yassil. Ever since I know him, he has been treating everyone coldly. I heard in family reunions that he only shows a smile when next to sis Yawen."
"Huh..." This time he listened to what Yalli had to say and understood. However the what he knew of her past was a bit different, Yawen used to be reclusive, not playing with other children her age and even spent more time cultivating alone in her room than with her own family. It was one of the reasons her father brought back countless comics, novels and all types of entertainment from every corner of the universe to entertain his daughter.
Yassil's opponent had just stepped on the stage when Elijah gasped. A thin blue crystal floated to the opposite side before an extremely strong energy burst from the crystal to form a light-blue mass of energy in a humanoid shape.
"Energy Lifeform!" It was the first time Elijah saw a genuine life form made of pure energy, and at the celestial level no less. Reading the book back in the academy, he recalled hearing something about the strange, but powerful energy life forms. Being seen as a variant to the fairies. Energy life forms had a great talent in formations and the casting of spells. They were harder to kill and didn't have an organic body which put them in the mortal races without a limit of the life span. Their only talent they had other than this was their telepathic powers.
But the great talent came with a price, their species could not be reproduced and only created by nature. The difficulty for them to reach high levels of cultivation was also a thousand times harder. Not that it was a problem for entities that won't age or die.
The energy lifeform on the stage for example, Elijah guessed its cultivation was on the initial stage of the first celestial realm.
"I thank mister from granting this one a fight, I hope this one won't be a disappointment." The energy lifeform rose its two arms in a sign of respect when a deep and old voice sounded in Yassil's mind who accepted the compliment and replied with his cold expression.
"It's nothing at all, I've always wanted an energy life form as a sparring partner." The energy life form was nothing stupid and knew that a member of the void clan was its natural predator. It was simply impossible for an energy lifeform to face an entity that could negate all energy.
Start! Right at the start, Yassil launched a deep gray fist forward to test the waters. Taking a set of deep blue armor out of its spatial pocket, the energy lifeform vanished from view and merged itself into the armor only to rise to the sky and shot its matter splitting disk forward to meet with the fist resulting in an earthshaking explosion.
Rumble! Being launched several steps back by the Shockwave, the energy lifeform took the opportunity and let go of the armor before taking the form of light-blue water that quickly took hold of the stage.
Surrounding the whole stage, the energy lifeform used its advantage to shoot countless attacks from all sides. Yasil hesitated as he tried to keep blocking the many energy threads surrounding him, which cut his empty blades and left a few wounds on his skin.
"Haa" With a deep and piercing cry, a purple-colored energy gathered in every single thread of energy around him. Each of this energy threads had a concentration of energy far bigger than the hell bringer's ancestral fire Elijah used in his battle. Yassil knew it would take more than a few seconds for his void energy to extinguish that energy, a time he didn't have to waste.
Whoosh! If he could not use the easiest method, then it was better to beat it all. Spatial and void energy quickly spread around the stage before it retreated at an even faster pace when a a rift open in space and sucked most of the energy like a bottomless hole.
