Chapter 132: Team (10)

"Hey… that can't be it… right?" Amanda asked while showing an expression of shock.

Celia was speechless. She only managed to blink several times as if she was trying to wake up from a weird dream. As for Luke, he watched the airplane disappear in the distance while furrowing his eyebrows. Was that planned from the beginning, or did something force the others to depart so soon? Also, the other party that went to rescue the survivors had already arrived? "Let's check the airport…" Luke declared. "We might find some answers there."

As planned, they flew high in the sky to escape the monster's Radar and then headed toward the airport. It didn't take long for them to see that the place had been attacked by a horde of monsters… when they approached a bit more, they found a horde of goblin archers fighting a large group of Crystal Avians.

"It seems that they didn't expect two species of monsters attacking at the same time," Luke said, and then he saw a message left on the place the airplane had been a few minutes ago.

Go north… that was the message. It seemed that the last group of soldiers managed to secure the airport, but not for long. Staying there while fighting two types of enemies wasn't an option. That whole mission was a joke... if Luke weren't been paid to help, he would say screw them.

"We panicked for no reason…" Celia said and then sighed in relief.

"You can't relax yet," Luke said. "What happens once can happen twice… Besides, it is clear that this mission is a mess. Unless the first group had already arrived, which is unlikely, our return would be delayed, and we will have to stay away from home for a while."

"At least let us be hopeful for a while longer," Amanda said.

Luke shrugged. It seemed that those two couldn't understand the implications of the situation… monsters were facing one another and causing problems to the survivors. That will only keep escalating in the future while the Crystal's keep spawning monsters…

"Do you think there is an airport North of here? Exactly in the north?" Celia asked.

"Billy has a map on the airplane, so he should have checked things in advance… the question is: will the situation in the next one be better?" Amanda asked. "There is also the fact that we don't know if the first group has met them and if they take too long to appear, we will have to search for them."

Luke shook his head while frowning. Amanda probably wanted to stay there for a while and wait for the first group for a day or two. That would be a waste of time… Besides, he wanted to confirm if the airplane was attacked by two monsters because they chased the first group. So, without wasting any time, they headed toward the north.

Along the way, Luke and the others found many areas filled with monsters, and while they couldn't waste time dealing with all of them, Luke flew low in the area that had no flying monsters and destroyed the crystals with Lightning. That granted him quite the bonus in coins… but that was just a temporary solution. Rather than that, the girls were more surprised that Luke could also use such a powerful spell… they could tell that it could fry up a human alive, even someone who had high RES like them… only because they had low health.

After flying for another hour, Artiuno was starting to get tired again. Still, fortunately, they found the airport where the airplane had landed. However, it didn't seem like they had time to clear the area before landing, so they were being attacked by a weird type of beast that had hairy and thick legs, a pretty humanoid torso, and the head of a bull… those creatures also could walk on their feet and a long ax in their hands… no wonder they were having a hard time against them.
