Chapter 149: Ice king (3)

As if the enemy had been waiting for Luke, it prepared its sword to face him, but he didn't expect that the enemy, a puny human, would charge at him so fast. Luke used Stinger while aiming at his neck and then the enemy used its sword to block the attack, despite that, Luke pushed him backward for several meters.

Luke charged again, but this time he didn't use Stinger, even though he repeated the same motion. The monster had an easier time blocking the strike, but he still felt like something was off… the goblin tried to kick Luke, but he jumped backward and dodged it. Still, that didn't faze him and Luke struck again before the enemy could take the chance to dictate the pace of the fight. However, the same thing didn't happen again, even when Luke aimed his sword at his head while charging, the monster moved his sword backward in the tail guard and then swung it. His attack would land half a second later, but it would split Luke in half… without any other choice, Luke was forced to stop. Making the monster cut the air.

"What a mad beast…" Luke thought.

Fighting on par with the monster wouldn't be hard if Luke asks for Rina support, but he wanted to fight without it for the time being.  The monster charged while preparing a horizontal slash… for a dead brain monster, it sure know the best attacks to use while preventing counter-attacks… While Luke jumped backwards and dodged the strike, he used Stinger Level one and attacked the face of the creature. In the last moment, the beat twitched his neck and the sword only cut a bit of the cheek, but the monster still felt uneasy despite his annoyance. Luke was doing something and the monster didn't know what it was.

Despite that, the monster suddenly used Charge and tried to split Luke in two, but the moment he saw the monster blurring, he assumed a fully defensive stance and blocked the attack. Luke felt his arms being crushed at the moment of the impact and his frozen claymore also cracked before he was sent flying to the distance. Somehow, Luke landed on his feet, but he could tell that his sword wouldn't last another strike if he tried to block it. 

"Here goes nothing…" Luke said and then activated Weapon Augmentation level five with his sword. "Goodbye, partner."

Much to his surprise, Luke's sword cracked right there in his hands. He was left speechless, but the monster didn't react. He knew that something odd was going to happen, and his instincts were right. A massive copy of the frozen claymore appeared above the monster and then fell.

The goblin champion didn't have time to dodge, but he had time to raise his own sword and shield to block the attack. Luke couldn't even begin to imagine the power behind that attack, but he could guess that it was like a concentrated version of his grenade attacks. Despite that, the monster wasn't crushed by it… sure the ground below its feet began to crack, but only that.

"Hey, come one… the level four defeated a monster much stronger than him," Luke said.

"You forgot that you had my buff, and that increased your strength by five times," Rina said.

Rina probably didn't say that before not to crush Luke's pride… Still, he knew that the other battle had been a fluke, but… in any case, the sword soon disappeared and the monster only lost half of its health. That being said, his arms were bleeding like hell. Before picking the fire claymore, Luke looked to the side and saw the weapons of the other goblins, they suffered some damage, but he picked one of them and prepared to fight.

The beast got enraged when it saw the weapon of one of its allies being used by the enemy, and then it tried to charge, but its speed had decreased considerably due to the damage it suffered. It might have survived, but their bones probably were cracked in many places.

"I guess it worked…" Luke said.

Luke had used Heavy Strike several times during the start of the battle, that was why the monster felt that something was weird… its endurance was decreasing without him noticing. Even the attacks that were blocked decreased his endurance, as long as any physical attack causes damage, they will apply those effects for ten seconds.

"Now, how does it feel to have a taste of your own poison?" Luke asked while recalling the time he had to fight while his arms were almost broken. "Defeating you using magic would be easy, but that wouldn't be satisfying. Using grenades would be boring as well. If you see your friends again, tell them that some nasty individuals are waiting for them here on Earth, with open arms and very unpleasant surprises."

Luke dashed toward the enemy and then attacked while using a Heavy strike, the monster tried to counter-attack, but it failed since the power of Luke's attack blasted him away. He had used Stinger Level five, after all. The monster prepared to receive another one, but Luke only used an ordinary strike. By alternating the skills with ordinary attacks and with the bonus of Heavy Strike, Luke made the target completely confused. When the creature was ready for both of them, Luke used Sonic Blade. The skill hit the enemies neck and opened a wound that made blood gush… the skin of the monster had weakened so much thanks to Heavy Strike that even a ranged physical skill could cause that much damage. At that point in time, the monster knew that it was already doomed… Little by little the monster was cornered and the wounds began to pile up. The creature couldn't recover anymore... no, Luke wouldn't let it recover. Wounded and without understanding what Luke was doing, the monster didn't have any chance of finding a way to victory.
