Chapter 166: Overlord (8)

Somehow, despite feeling a sword on his back, he managed to turn around and see Luke covered in Ice Arrows. "I can't let the effects of Heavy Strike disappear… to prevent that, I have to attack at least once every ten seconds, no matter what," Luke said. "Well, I will die anyway if I don't defeat him."

Luke realized that he wouldn't have clean opportunities to do so anymore. The goblin lord's eyes were on him… attacking while using any skill and landing any hit will be difficult. While Luke was hesitating, Richter attacked the boss with a furry of slash attacks. Despite that, the goblin lord blocked those strikes even without looking at him.

"You talk about skills, but you can only do this much without them," Luke smirked.

"Hold him back for ten seconds, and I will show you what I can do," Richter said.

"So unreasonable… demanding what you can't accomplish from others," Luke said after a long sigh. "All right, ten seconds you will have."

Rina had a few things to say about that, with his current level, it was suicide to fight alone against the goblin lord. Even Rina and Shalia's support wouldn't be enough. Richter stepped back from the area, and then the boss focused his eyes on Luke, but then he quickly dashed toward him. Somehow, Luke saw his movements, and when he was five meters away from him, Luke used Water Tornado to stop the boss. However, it barely had any effect. The monster passed through the spell almost instantly.

While using his forearm of his left hand, Luke held the Blade of his sword to block the strike that had been aimed at his head. Somehow, he was only pushed several meters backward instead of being sent flying like usual. That gave Lule the chance to fire several Spark Balls. The boss was unable to attack while Luke fired those, so he gained three seconds. Still, the water eventually evaporated, and the creature was able to resist those. Before Luke could use Water Tornado again, the boss used a Body Slam. It was quite the bold move, but it certainly would break Luke's defensive stance, as well as tempt him to attack. In the end, Luke didn't resist… he had to use Heavy Strike again. His blade pierced the throat of the monster quite a bit, to the point where the creature began to choke on its own blood. However, Luke was hit directly by the body Slam in exchange for that. The attack made all the bones Luke could feel to crack while he was rolling on the ground. In the end, he only stopped after hitting his back against one of the frozen pillars of the castle. Making it crack and Luke coughing a lot of blood.

Despite the situation, Rina didn't hesitate to kiss him. She then assumed her real form for a second to completely heal him. While some pain was still there, Luke quickly got up.

"... Thanks," Luke said as he watched the enemy charging at him again.

Luke felt a bit weird at the moment, but he couldn't spare his thoughts on that right now. The creature was chasing him, even though it was bleeding a lot from the neck. It sure had a lot of spirits, or perhaps that thing knew that it would heal before dying.

"I won't pull back my punches… it is risky, but it is necessary," Luke said.

Luke used Weapon Augmentation level four, and he began to spin like a drill while it charged toward the enemy. The level five would deal more damage, but when it is used with a sword, the attack wouldn't be direct… Nevertheless, the monster blocked the charge with his own weapon, but Luke still managed to push the enemy backward. The ground below them was cracking due to the sheer amount of power of that, but there were no signs of the ice sword breaking. As expected, of a weapon of a crystal overlord.

Luke felt shivers, and then a black sword almost hit his face… after passing through the chest of the goblin lord. The drill attack ended, and Luke had to wait for a while to recover, but he eventually saw what had happened. The boss had been attacked from behind by a man covered in shadows. That man was Richter… the boss tried to resist for a while, but the shadows weren't even letting the blood gush from the wound… It was eating everything. Eventually, the goblin lord was unable to resist the existence of a hole inside him and stopped moving.
