Chapter 188 - All That is Yours, Will Be Mine

A/N: This chapter will be more of a Jonathan-Eula history... HOWEVER! It'll cover a piece of information - a very important detail that is relevant to the entire story, so be sure to read this!

**

In the spring, the two students that were taking advanced classes due to their adept skills and excellent performance, stayed in the library of the academy that one evening. The girl with a curly, red hair that was fiery threads against the moonlight was reading about charms; the latter, a student with an uncanny resemblance to a Heilen, with black hair and deep, red eyes, was studying about the dark arts.

They sat beside each other. The moon from the large, arched window was their source of light, aside from the fireflies and the warm, magic lights around the room.

"Aren't you sleepy, Eulalia?" He asked her after several, occasional glances.

Eulalia, the redhead, smiled. "No, I'm very muuuchhhh awake, Jonathan."

Jonathan smiled as he sees her as bright as ever. They were second-year students now, and they maintained their positions in the first Ianua. Eulalia Fortunatorum was a student that was with mana that was considered rare—mana that could seal. It could lock the mana of others, which made it good for combat. She was also strongly compatible with all the elements, gaining her the upper hand to almost everyone in the academy.

She ranked first at all magic exams.

Jonathan Unsterblich, on the other hand, was her opposite. He had irregular mana that was never seen before. It was a bundle of mess, and he had struggled to take control of his magic. It was only due to perseverance, he was able to make up for his lacking qualities. This had earned him a spot in Ianua I.

For the straight semesters that passed in both their first and second year in the academy, Eulalia always placed first and Jonathan, second. They easily became friends because Eulalia was so bright. She was like the sun.

Jonathan watched her read the book. Strands of red locks fell to her face. He reached to her fiery threads and then tucked them behind her ear. She gave him a confused glance, which then turned into an affectionate stare.

His heartbeat went quite loud, that he had feared Eulalia would hear it.

"What is it, Jonth?" She asked.

Jonathan grinned and then he pinched her cheeks.

"Again, with the colloquialism."

Eulalia pouted.

"It ain't like we're nobles here. I thought we're all the same standing here? Just mages?"

Jonathan drew his hand away, and then flicked her forehead.

"Where did you learn that accent? The Fortunatorums don't have that accent." He said.

"It's fine~" Eulalia grinned. "I really love talking like this. Feels like I'm not bound to any responsibilities."

Jonathan stared at Eulalia, who, for a moment, had sadness in her eyes.

It was rare to see Eulalia sad. Back when they barely knew each other, Jonathan was more withdrawn, and he couldn't really keep conversations going. He was that young man in a party that would prefer to go into the corners. That was due to the never-ending gossips about him being the result of a Heilen affair his mother never had.

He was just born like this because God decided to.

Jonathan also rarely attended parties due to his lack of confidence. His social skills didn't grow as well. Even if he was practically the son of the schoolmistress, people wouldn't give a second thought in gossiping about him.

He will never make friends. He had known that from the start.

Until one day…

In the library,

He helped a girl to get a book she couldn't reach.

Her emerald eyes complemented her red hair which was let loose. It was a bit curled, and when rays of light reflected upon her hair, and her face, she looked so bright and so warm.

She was like the sun.

"Thank you," she said. "I'm so small. I didn't want to cause a ruckus and use magic just to lift myself. Besides, I'm not wearing anything underneath but my undies."

Jonathan blinked.

"I'm Eulalia Fortunatorum," she grinned. "Thank you for getting this book for me."

**

Jonathan chuckled.

Eulalia tilted her head.

"Why are you laughing?"

Jonathan smiled.

"You make it as if it is a sin to laugh," Jonathan remarked, but his gleeful and teasing tone was still notable. And Eulalia was perceptive, so that didn't escape from her ears.

"YOU are thinking about something that I did…" Eulalia narrowed her eyes. "But I can't tell what it is."

Jonathan smiled as he closed the book without taking his eyes off of Eulalia. Right… no matter how hard he studies, this genius will always become the first place in everything. Jonathan knew it was futile to compete with a prodigy.

"Hey. You're still smiling." Eulalia also closed her books. "What is it?"

She scooted closer to him, which had taken him aback.

Eulalia pouted.

"It's just something," Jonathan smiled as he stares at her up close. "Anyway. Goldenfag's story said that when the man gets closer to the sun, he'll burn."

Eulalia tilted her head.

"Yeah, so?"

Jonathan blushed as he averted his eyes.

"I'm close to the sun." He said. "Don't you think I'll suffer the same fate as that man?"

Eulalia scowled, but then, understanding the situation, she was able to plan in such a short amount of time. She looked around. There was no one at this hour; the librarian couldn't see them considering the bookshelves that were of towering heights. There also weren't any students above them on the mezzanines.

Eulalia grinned as she went even closer to Jonathan.

"Oh, so I'm the sun?"

Jonathan blinked as he catches a whiff of her scent.

Summertime.

Flowers.

And all things beautiful.

Eulalia grinned as she stares at how red Jonathan was becoming. Now he wasn't laughing anymore. In the end, victory was hers. But then again, she still hasn't enacted her revenge. Eulalia stared at him longer. He was such an unusual sight, and also an amusing one as well.

Eulalia leaned her lips to Jonathan's cheek and then pressed to kiss quickly.

"There," Eulalia said with a slight blush in her cheeks. She didn't know she will get this frazzled as well.

Jonathan slowly turned towards her; surprise painted all over his face.

"That's the revenge for laughing at me." Eulalia said. It had taken her all the courage to not stutter—but she wasn't able to enact an accent in return. Jonathan felt his heart would burst at any moment. What just happened?

"Even drenched in moonlight, you still shine brightly," Jonathan said as he smiles at Eulalia. "Like the sun."

Before Eulalia could react, Jonathan leaned to kiss her.

He pressed his lips on her forehead.

"You are like the sun, Eulalia." Jonathan exclaimed. "You bring joy to everyone. To me."

**

The forsaken opened his eyes.

For years he had dreamt of nothing more than darkness and the past. The past—which was the very dawn of this world, and the birth of the first demons. He had dreamt of nothing but the cruel world and the turmoil and chaos people brought upon themselves. When he closes his eyes he could only hear crestfallen screams and pleas of agony.

Red eyes then darted towards the person lying on the soft mattress. She was now breathing, there was also color in her face, and she felt alive.

The body was there, alive.

But there was no soul.

"Eula… oh… Eula." He caressed her cheek. "I will be reunited with you again."

She had no reaction, but she was warm in his hand. This meant the vessel was alive.

"Ah. It was a real effort to stitch murdered souls altogether to make your body function again." He murmured. "It took me years, Eulalia."

Silence.

He smirked as he affectionately held the strand of her hair.

"It took me years to wait for your death. Now, with this, you will be forever with me."

He leaned to her lips, but then he was stopped by something else.

A persisting force.

"Impertinent child." He glowered darkly. "Why are you holding me back? Can't you see I am doing you a favor in his stead?"

The forsaken was forced to draw his body away from Eulalia by something else.

Someone else inside.

"I am doing this for you, the reincarnation of the most powerful being of all time." He murmured. "I am resurrecting your beloved back from the dead so you could be forever with her. Why are you displeased when I have done this all for you?"

'Lies'

"Lies?" The forsaken thundered. "This woman—YOU have let her escape from your grasp. I spent years searching for her and this is how YOU will repay me?"

'Eulalia does not deserve this.'

"Hah. You are very much like that child." The forsaken heaved a deep sigh. "What a striking resemblance."

'Leave that child alone.'

"I have no use of her… as of the moment." The forsaken exclaims. "But she will become a valuable asset to me."

'You promised me you will leave that child alive.'

"I have. But I did not say I will not use her."

'Leave her alone. I will not let you do something to her.'

"But what can you do? The clock hand on the seal will not move." The forsaken laughed. "You will not be able to save anyone—not that child, at least. I will be taking your lover on your behalf… and she would not know that another soul had taken over this body."

'Leave my sun and spring.'

"Why, what will you do? Scream in my mind? Try to gain control of your body again?"

'Leave Eulalia and Faustina alone.'

"Threatening me will not do you good, Child. The seal will not waver. I will be occupying this body until the end of time." The forsaken smiled as he stares at Eulalia.

"All that is yours,"

"Will be mine."
