Arriving at the beach, Jenell couldn’t help smiling. She liked the beach and liked listening to the waves falling onto the shore. She was happy Kaiden remembered, so when the man closed her car door when she stepped out, she cupped his face and connected their lips. Kaiden pulled her close by her hips and her skin singed happily. If it was up to Jenell, she would kiss until they were naked and touching and-

“Thank you,” she whispered to stop herself from thinking too far in her gutter mind. Kaiden cupped her face.

“Come, princess,” he whispered and took her hand. Taking their shoes off, Kaiden held her shoes and his in one hand while the other was holding her hand. Sand between their toes, the sun high in the air, and the ocean breeze against her skin. Jenell felt today was one of her best moments in her life.

Out in the distance away from others at the beach was a gazebo. It was secluded on the other side of the beach for privacy. There was already a plate of fruits and two empty wine glass. The unopened wine bottle sat in a bucket of ice ready to be uncorked. Jenell glanced at Kaiden to see he was already staring at her.

“Let us enjoy the day together. We can leave whenever you want,” he said once they arrived. She nodded and Kaiden lifted her hand to kiss her knuckles. Jenell pressed a hand to her cheek feeing the heat against her palm. Clearing her throat, she pulled Kaiden into the gazebo and closed the white curtains.

Pulling Kaiden to sit, Jenell quickly straddled him and kissed all the love she was afraid to say aloud. Kaiden kissed back and kept his hands at her waist, not wanting to cause a scene in public. It didn’t help that Jenell was doing things with her tongue that made his mind go in one specific direction. Not to mention how good her body felt pressed against his.

“Princess,” Kaiden pulled back and sighed against her ear, “You are something.”

“Something good I hope,” Jenell teased and gasped when she felt a nip to her exposed shoulder.

“Too good,” Kaiden placed a kiss to his nip and pulled back, “Do you want to drink today? You’ll be busy tomorrow, right?”

“Mm, maybe 1 glass.”

Kaiden smiled and tapped her thigh to have her move. She stared at him and he stared back. Kaiden got the hint and instead of pushing her off, he held her with one arm while he leaned over to grab the wine. Uncorking it, he poured into the wine glasses and put the wine back into the bucket. Handing one glass to Jenell, he held the other one.

“To your success and future, Jenell.”

“To your happiness and future, Kaiden.”

They clinked their glass and sipped the wine.

“You probably should get off my lap, princess. The articles will be calling you names if you sit in this position too long.”

Jenell sighed and agreed. Those damn paparazzi always ruining her life. Pulling away, Jenell still kept close by sitting beside the raven haired man and leaning against his shoulder. They watched the waves through the sheer white curtains and enjoyed the clear view of the sparkling ocean. They spoke about their friends, their families, and their future.

Jenell enjoyed every minute of it. Being with Kaiden was a breath of fresh air. He brought clarity and happiness to her. She hoped she also did the same for him, but a part of her felt she was making his life too stressful. She had baggage. She had problems. She had past toxic relationships that she knew she would end up thinking he would behave the same way as her exes.

Would Kaiden really want to be more than friends with someone like her?

Feeling insecure, she wrapped her arms around one of Kaiden’s arm. He noticed and pulled his arm away only to wrap it around her instead. Holding her close, she felt a peck to her crown. Reaching for a strawberry on the plate, she ate it quietly. When the sun was setting, the warm colors reflected against the surface of the water. It was beautiful in her eyes.

Kaiden suggested they walked down the beach and she agreed. Hand in hand, they walked closer to the waves and shore. It was a bit chilly, but Kaiden was smart enough to bring the throw blanket with him. Wrapping it around her, she felt so pampered by such a sweet man. They stood and watched the sun set holding one another.

“Thank you, Ah Kai,” Jenell spoke softly, “This is wonderful.”

“I am glad you like it. You are worth it, Jenell.”

“Ah~ you and your words,” she flushed happily, “Such a romantic.”

Kaiden laughed and leaned down to kiss her lips. Her fingers clutched the blanket around her. If they didn’t, she would be trying to rip his shirt off! Trying to control herself, she sighed happily when lips kissed her cheek and arms held her closer.

When the stars started to appear, Kaiden pulled her further down the beach. It was getting darker, but she spotted lights in the distance. As they came closer, she saw the rose petals leading to candles shaping into a large heart. In the middle of the space was a small velvety box. Jenell was speechless, truly speechless. She stared at Kaiden with her mouth opened and eyes wide. The raven-haired man had picked up the box and was holding it in front of her.

“Jenell,” Kaiden started in a confident tone, “I really like you. Since you’ve come into my life, I’ve found happiness and joy. You bring a warmth to me that I would never want to go away. You are caring, beautiful inside and out. I hope to spend more days with you.”

Kaiden lifted the lid to reveal a thin silver band.

“Will you be my girlfriend?”

“…”

“…”

“Girl… Girlfriend?” That was the only thing that escaped her mouth.

“… Yes…”

“Oh…”

“…”

“I mean! Yes! I will be your girlfriend!” Jenell quickly shouted and nodded quickly seeing Kaiden was looking defeated, “I thought you were… You were proposing or something.”

“Oh…”
