30 Coffee

At Anderson's house,the family of three were busy chatting,when all of a sudden they heard a soft door knock,Mr Anderson who was near the door sprang up from his seat and went to check out.On opening the door he was dumbstruck,the person who was standing before him was none other than the assistant CEO of J.M company ,he had never been too close to him as he was at that particular moment,most of the time he saw him on television .Anderson was also aware that Henrietta was the servant in their house hold.He took several seconds digesting the sudden unfolding events.When he came back to his senses,he tried to bow down as a sign of respect but precipitously Jeremy was quick enough to stop him.

"Good morning young master, what brings you into our humble house?" Mr Anderson asked.

"Good morning sir, may we please come in?" Jeremy requested politely.

When Henrietta heard Jeremy's voice she bolted upright and went to the door,she came face to face with Jeremy.Jeremy ignored her and continued talking to Mr Anderson.

"Welcome young master." Mr Anderson said while paving way for them.

They went into the house and Mr Sozzy handed over the presents to Jeremy and excused himself,he went back to the car.

Instantly the house was extremely quiet , pin drop could be heard,Rose broke the silence by excusing herself,she went to the kitchen to brew coffee.Henrietta was feeling uneasy she also excused herself and followed her mother to the kitchen.Anderson and Jeremy were still standing,later Anderson offered Jeremy a seat,both of them were unable to start a conversation.

"Young master I hope Henrietta has not messed up." Anderson said out of the blue.

"No ,not at all,actually due to her outstanding performance ,is the main reason I'm here." Jeremy answered.

Obviously Rose and Henrietta heard all that Jeremy said ,the kitchen was just in the same room where Jeremy and Anderson were sitting, what separated the two was a torn piece of bedsheet.

Rose finally relaxed she was tensed when she saw Jeremy in their house,she thought Henrietta had run into trouble and was hiding in their house.Rose and Henrietta could not talk to each other because even whispering could be heard by their visitor.

"Young master my girl is a bright girl,it's only circumstances that have limited her from exploiting her potential fully." Anderson said.

"I know . Did she tell you,she is the new assistant financial manager in J.M company.?" Jeremy asked.

"Young master,I hope you are not pulling my legs,Henrietta ,come here.It's not good dreaming during day time ,hurry up Henrietta !" Anderson shouted .

"Dad all he said is true,I was to tell you, I'm sorry for delaying the information." Henrietta defended herself.

"When did you sign as a financial assistant?" Anderson asked.

"Not long ago." Henrietta answered vaguely.

"It's time to celebrate for the achievement,don't you all think so?" Rose intervened.She brought the brewed coffee, she handed the coffee to Jeremy but Jeremy politely rejected.

"Henrietta,you are supposed to serve me and not your mother." Jeremy said while looking at Henrietta sternly.According to their tradition ,it was a bad omen for the mother in law to serve the son in law,certainly Henrietta was not aware of all this traditions,Rose had not taught her yet.

"Come here Henrietta,you are the youngest here,so you are to serve the young master." Rose said while pushing Henrietta forward.

Henrietta served the coffee and went outside.The house was too small to accommodate four people,the couch was also for three people,out of respect Rose followed Henrietta outside,Jeremy drank the coffee and when he was done.He cleared his throat and told Anderson to call Rose and Henrietta.They all came in ,Rose sat down but Henrietta stood because there was no seat for her.

"I came here today to thank you,for raising Henrietta to be the wonderful person she is now.Also would take this opportunity to inform you we got married and now we are husband and wife." Jeremy said.
