A few days later…

The spirit summoning shenanigans are over and done with. The students are now officially saved!

Their rampaging magicules calmed down without any troubles as their spirits are keeping them under control until their body can naturally hold them as they grow older.

… Which won't happen for a while, but eh. You can't have everything…

I'm walking through the hallways of the Freedom Academy by myself. I just got done with playing a game of volleyball with the kids. There’s wasn’t any net or anything, they just hit the ball into the air for someone else to hit. If it touches the ground, you lose.

I was the ball, by the way. My slime form is… very bouncy, apparently!

Oh and Illya and Ranga joined in too. It was surprisingly fun!

Rimuru- “But still, although Yuuki was a madman, he sure was a genius in his own rights, huh?”

I mean, this academy is HUGE! And the space is being put to good use too, as this place is very popular with several hundreds of students learning here and many teachers to accompany them.

And for a medieval fantasy era school, that’s a lot.

Yes, this place is considered a sanctuary for “failed summons”, but this place is also a school to teach adventurers the know-how before sending them off to die- I mean, sending them off into the fields as proper adventures…

Proper adventurers die a lot though…

Yuuki, despite his flaws, was talented beyond compare.

Well, I tried getting the Yuuki clone to piggyback off his authority and kick everyone else out of the school since I don’t like social interaction with people I don’t know, but even his authority had limits.

Speaking of which, I heard that the Annual Outdoor Training Event that’s happening soon. I overheard a couple of teachers talk about it.

I remember something like this happening in the series. Specifically, it was a part of the OVA episodes.

I only watched the first episode of the three-part series since the other two weren't out at the time and I didn’t get the chance to catch up before I died.

So yeah, I only know the general outline.

The students of each class will compete with each other. The goal is to reach a certain place to explore a certain cave. The first class to do so wins and the teacher of said class will receive a bonus.

Oh, and teachers aren't allowed to assist.

I also remember there being some sort of plot going on in the background concerning thieves who stole a Full Potion from… someone.

That’s the limit of my memories, I’ll have to ask Illya to dig up that memory.

So I’ll just leave it for later…

An obnoxious voice enters my ears. It sounds like the voice that comes from fat nobles in anime.

Turning around, I find someone who’s not fat, but he is a noble. He has a moustache with a goatee, round glasses, and dirty blonde hair. He’s also pretty tall, but he looks around 40 years old, so I wouldn’t call him handsome.

Rimuru- “Jeff-sensei! A pleasure as always to see you!”

Yes, I swear to god, his name is Jeff. I even had Illya check to make sure and by the gods his name is Jeff.

Did I mention that his name is Jeff?

Jeff- “You seem to have free time as always! I truly envy you!”

I would instantly feel some sort of familiarity with this guy if not for the fact that his words are dripping with sarcasm.

For some reason, this guy always has it out for me. I remember something like this happening in canon too. Did I do something? Or maybe he’s just jealous? Or maybe he sees me as some sort of rival? Since he’s the A Class teacher, and I'm the S Class’ teacher.

Rimuru- “Well, if that’s everything, I’ll get going-“

Jeff- “I am so busy with the upcoming Annual Outdoor Training Event that I haven’t had much time at all!”

Rimuru- “…”

Jeff- “…”

Rimuru- “… Is that so?”

Jeff- “Yes indeed it is! You truly are lucky that the S Class won't participate!”

Rimuru- “Yeah, I am.”

I mean, this whole thing sounds like a pain. I guess I really am lucky.

Jeff- “…”

Rimuru- “…”

Jeff- “…”

Rimuru- “… I'm going now-”

Jeff- “S Class really are unfortunate, HMMMM!?”

Ok, this guy is obviously prodding me into having S Class participate.

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have any bad intentions.

Ok ok, I’ll bite.

I put on a slightly offended look (it’s fake obviously) and speak in a monotone voice.

Rimuru- “Ahh. I can't take this lying down. S Class with participating and prove you wrong.”

Jeff- “THEN I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR ATTEMPTS!”

He shouts at the top of his lungs before turning around and walking away, his fluttery clothes adding emphasis to his movements as he has a smug look on his face.

*Sigh*

I just agreed to it. I COULD just bail, but…

His name is Jeff. I can't do that to him.

Rimuru- “Right, I guess the kids are going on a trip. Ha! Sucks to be them…”

Hmm? You thought I was going to follow? Haha. Good one…

I make my way back to the classroom to tell them the news. Jeff took up a bit of my time, so they should all be back along with Illya and Ranga.

They’re gonna hate me for this lol.

Rimuru- “Right! You guys are gonna participate in the next Outdoor Training Event!”

Students- “Eh!?”

Illya- “Then Onii-chan will also have to participate, right?”

Rimuru- “What?”

Illya- “I mean, who else is going to monitor the students if the teachers aren't there?”

Oh shit, really? Then hurry up guys! Start complaining so I can cancel this!

Chloe- “It seems like too much trouble… it might be interesting though.”

Huh?

Alice- “You’re so nice, Chlo-chan. Well, I also don’t think it’s such a bad idea.”

Nani?

Kenya- “Yeah. It’s a bit of a hassle, but now that Sensei said it, there’s no way he will listen.”

Correction, it’s been mostly Illya that have been teaching you, but that’s not the point right now…
