Chapter 25 Unparalleled Hero
Wang Hao looked at Kong Zhao’s flushed face, and his gaze slowly wandered to the cherry lips under her small nose. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his gaze darkened.
The second round of the game soon began. Kong Zhao watched as the dice were transferred to Jiang Yun and felt anxious.
This round, Jiang Yun’s points were more than 6, so she drank it very quickly. Then, she placed the dice in front of Kong Zhao. Under Wang Hao’s urging, Kong Zhao could only pick up the dice and start throwing. She lost again.
Jiang Yun smiled and handed over a glass of wine that was so full that it almost spilled. “Come, come, come. You’ll be punished if you lose.”
Kong Zhao was still sober, but her hand could not help but take the wine. She frowned as she drank another glass.
The game continued.
Kong Zhao knew that she could not drink anymore. Just as she was about to think of another way to escape, the phone screen on the coffee table lit up. The ear-piercing ringtone sounded.
Kong Zhao’s eyes flashed as she calmly picked up the phone.
“It’s me.” Cheng Fang’s familiar voice sounded.
Kong Zhao smiled and said, “Hubby, you’re here to pick me up?”
Cheng Fang paused. “Do you want me to go
up?”
Kong Zhao didn’t think too much about it. Seeing Jiang Yun’s teasing expression, she quickly pressed the phone to her ear. “I’ll say goodbye to my colleague. I’ll be downstairs
soon.”
After hanging up, Kong Zhao smiled sweetly. “I’m sorry, everyone. My husband is downstairs. You guys can continue. I’ll take my leave first.”
When Kong Zhao was about to get up, Jiang Yun immediately held her hand and said jokingly, “Don’t tell me you’re afraid of drinking and are lying to us?”
Kong Zhao said with a serious expression, “My husband is really here! He has a bad temper. He won’t be happy if he waits downstairs for too long.”
With that, Kong Zhao pulled Jiang Yun’s hand away and stood up.
Seeing this, Jiang Yun also stood up with a smile and said curiously, “Then I’ll send you downstairs. I want to see who is so capable that a beautiful girl like you can’t wait to marry the moment you graduate.”
Kong Zhao didn’t ask Cheng Fang to pick her up on the phone. Jiang Yun’s actions put her in a dilemma.
At this moment, the door of the private room was pushed open.
When Kong Zhao saw Cheng Fang in a black cap, her eyes lit up. She raised her head slightly and looked at Jiang Yun. “Sister Yun, you’re overthinking it! My husband is impatient. He probably come up after seeing that I didn’t go down for a long time!”
Kong Zhao jogged forward and held Cheng Fang’s arm intimately. “Everyone, I’ll take my leave first. Have fun!”
Everyone bade farewell when they saw this. Jiang Yun watched as Kong Zhao left before returning to her seat.
Ou Jing recalled what happened tonight and looked at Jiang Yun meaningfully.
On the other side, Kong Zhao felt the alcohol begin to take effect. She still felt delirious as she walked with Cheng Fang.
When they finally walked into the elevator, Kong Zhao started to look at the man beside him in a daze. Cheng Fang felt his burning gaze and smiled as he stared ahead. “You’ve been looking at me for so long. Am I that good-looking?”
Kong Zhao blinked and nodded seriously. “Yes, you’re the most handsome man I’ve ever seen!”
After saying that, Kong Zhao seemed to have thought of something and smiled. “The moment you appeared just now, although you weren’t wearing a golden armor or stepping on colorful clouds, I still thought of those peerless heros in movies.”
When Cheng Fang heard this, he lowered his head to look at Kong Zhao. He saw her mouth slightly agape as she was looking up at him with a silly smile. His heart suddenly softened and he couldn’t help but smile.
Kong Zhao fell asleep in Cheng Fang’s arms in the taxi on the way home. After getting out of the car, Cheng Fang carried her all the way home. Just as he gently placed her on the bed, he saw Kong Zhao looking at him with narrowed eyes.
Seeing this, Cheng Fang asked softly, “Do you want to take a shower before sleeping? It’s more comfortable this way.”
Kong Zhao didn’t reply. She still had her eyes half-open as she extended her arm. “Hug me and pat my back.”
Amidst her sleepiness, her voice was even softer than usual.
The drunk Kong Zhao was like a child. Cheng Fang could only lean over and hug Kong Zhao. As soon as she laid on the bed, Kong Zhao immediately turned around and hugged him tightly. When Cheng Fang suddenly felt the softness of the girl’s chest, he felt tempted.
Kong Zhao, who had her eyes closed, sensed that Cheng Fang didn’t move, so she reached out and grabbed his arm before patting it on her own back.
Cheng Fang came back to his senses and recalled the way his mother coaxed him to sleep when he was young. He looked at Kong Zhao lovingly and began to pat her back gently.
Kong Zhao had a dream. She dreamed of the scene she saw in the Kong family when she was young. The sun shone on the bedroom. Sheng Rou hugged the five-year-old Kong Rong in her arms and patted her back gently.
For the first time, she found out that there were children who could only sleep after being coaxed by an adult.
